Correct. Basically, the problem is that the AI scammers & their enablers (looking at you, Nvidia & Micron) have shifted most of the leading-edge chip-making facilities over to making higher-priced specialist AI silicon instead of lower-priced consumer & industry silicon.

TL;DR: The most important silicon foundries like TSMC can churn out $10 consumer (you & me) chips, or $50 AI chips, so they're making the $50 chips, leaving no capacity to make $10 chips.

Time for Scam Altman to exit this universe.

Huh. The people who built this box do their testing on Windows, so it's plausible that they'd config the BIOS to be Microsoft-friendly. I'll go check the BIOS settings & see if they're US gov't compatible & fix them if they are.

Edit: The installer I'm using, I downloaded directly from Ubuntu's own website today.

The ZFS array was behaving weirdly, & I ended up rebooting. The array didn't show up on boot, & I ran `sudo zpool import pool` to wake it up, which hanged, & gave me the syslog entries in my OP.

My best guess is some kind of hardware problem, but I'm open to suggestions!
