People aren't lining out the door to get into because its requires reams of qualifications to even get near the door. You need to be a professional level diver and a top of the line welder. That's not even including all the physical conditions that will immediately prevent you from pursuing that path.

Its literally a rogue nuclear state with illegal nuclear arms.

Oggie243

I get that this sub loves to whinge about petty criminality but neither party in this exchange comes off well.

Oggie243

Yeah the toy gun and citing those horrible tattle forums that don't reflect the synopsis the poster gives. They said it was one thing and then you read the thread and it was just reams and reams of people being horrible to and disliking the girlfriend rather than anything about him.

Oggie243

There's been someone clutching at straws regarding Akotsk cast in the past few threads but its bit forced. They've actively been looking for tea and this is all they could muster up so there doesn't seem to be much there.

Oggie243

Tbf even in the places associated with it, the swinging 60s weren't until the latter quarter of the decade. The majority of the actual 60s were more like whats associated with the 50's in pop culture.

Oggie243

Yeah but there still were times were people were trying such craic. My ma goes on about the first time encountering "dope" being at Butlins among her fellow red coats or whatever they were. This would have been late 60s early 70s.

Theres a funny story someone tells about green in Derry around the time. It wasn't common and the only person who seemed to know how to source some was Eamonn McCann and he was such a "skinflint" that he wouldn't share.

Oggie243

What were the issues raised?

Oggie243

Drive to survive came out a few years back so theres loads of novel fans of F1. Dunnes ascent through racing coincided nicely with that.

Sometimes when a piece of entertainment media comes out and captures peoples attention theres a consequent renaissance in the subject.

Happened with Chess after Queens Gambit too to an extent.

Oggie243

Would rather the formatting rule than what you have on other subs where the mods post mods post ragebait from shite sources to the point where it raises suspicion on if they're getting referral money.

Oggie243

The whole thing with shite merchants that spam subs scattergun style is that its often not the regular users voting on them.

Oggie243

Yeah this is the truth of it.

Any time i go on Facebook and see some outright braindead shite being peddled by some reactionary gimp half the engagement ate 'laugh reacts'.

Its still engagement. Engaging with it laugh or ridicule it does nothing but sig al boost it. Its the same with people quote tweeting arseholes. Some many pricks on twitter were hated into relevance.

Oggie243

Could be very dependant on the department too.

Oggie243

Why dogpile it? Just ignore it for being shit. Let it fade into obscurity instead of letting it be hated into relevance.

Oggie243

This sub is a haven for miserable complaining sorts. You're not going to get much sympathy on this forum.

Oggie243

They're pretty much never going to be replacing drivers 1:1 so this isn't the case. Theres 40k+ uber drivers in London. The start up burden if having a waymo 'on the run' is multitude more expensive than getting an individual whose on the hook for the vehicle, maintenance and insurance 'on the run'

Oggie243

Is it AI? It thought it was just dogshite more fitting for a decades old tattered 'true life stories' magazine youd find in the GP waiting room.

Oggie243

and no pics allowed of vulnerable kids as well.

Any Irish charities worth their salt who are operating in the developing world already do this. Many sign up to and abide by the Dóchas code of conduct and operate abroad under European GDPR standards.

There are still some cowboy charities and voluntourism operations that don't, but any worthwhile groups and orgs will strive to protect the dignity of those they're working with.

Oggie243

Donaldsons brother was involved in some shite in Cameroon. I can't remember the details of it but he had some sort of prominent role there at a point. It seems like a glaring omission from McBride's coverage.

Oggie243

There were two alterations at the weekend. This cunt isn't a case of a young lad with a bit of fire in him. He's an outward cunt.

Oggie243

I was under the impression you can't be disregarded for these things on account of age?

The literature and brochures for schemes cam give the impression they're for younger folk but I don't think they're necessarily strictly for those people.

Oggie243

Doesn't really have a message though, its not trying to sniff farts or anything its just a story being told.

Oggie243

Tim Severin crossed the Atlatic in a Currach boat in the 1970s to test the feasibility of the theory that the land St Brendan the Navigator found in his 6th century voyage was the Americas.

Oggie243

Yes, for the proprietors of the enterprise, not for the consumers, the state or the wider economy. Ergo, it doesn't '[lead] to greater producitivy for society as a whole' which was the claim above.

It doesn't improve anything bar the margins of the business. This isn't the fax machine or the cotton gin.

Oggie243

The quote above is from the horse's mouth referring to that very line. It was to distance herself and the band from any misattricuted association.

Seems strange to dismiss the song whose inception began with two kids deaths as not being powerful.

Because though the ostensible claims of being about the two victims of Warrington, or the other bomb she offhandedly refers to (would feel less vapid if she remembered these victims names if invoking them) when citing inspiration, its still something cynically written to distance the band from something no right minded person would associate them with in the first place.

It wasn't countless acts of terror in NI that moved her to write the song, it wasnt the orphaned children and grieving families of Ulster that had this song dedicated to them.

No, they just got the pleasure of having someone totally insulated from the ongoing violence from the state and terrorists alike telling them that all the daily checkpoints, bombscares and inherent paranoia that comes from having several belligerent groups carrying out atrocities was 'in their head' because she was worried about sales and mild judgement from xenophobes. The fighting wasn't in anyone's head. It was in the streets, it was in people's homes, workplaces and social haunts. You could have absolutely nothing to do with any of tbe belligerents in the troubles, you couldbe a painter and decorator working in someone's house, enjoying a pint with your cross community friend group or down in tbe bookies having a flutter and find yourself the victim of an indiscriminate killing.

Its a vapid song. Its aged like milk too because as the years have passed and the extent of collusion has become evident the "in your head" becomes even more tone deaf. Its no more powerful than something like the Decemberists song about he Shankill Butchers. It was inspired by atrocity, but never said anything bold, brave or challenging.
