I can answer, having worked at 2 places with HQ in US - one receving and RSUs and one receiving options, as an Australian we don't have the option to "sell to cover"

OneCryptographer

Don't worry, I'm not as binary as reddit. Life has many shades of grey

OneCryptographer

I'm not about "going back to normal" TBH. I'm more or less content with the reality that post COVID is just not the same. I think its just the levels of things.

OneCryptographer

Thank you for your thoughts. Appreciate it.

Yeah I think you are right about the intervention side of things. It almost feels like it would be more for me than for her. That's one big reason why I never pushed for it (not at all claiming that was the correct decision)

OneCryptographer

Thanks for your thoughts and reply. Appreciate it.

OneCryptographer

Thanks for you kind words. Much appreciated.

OneCryptographer

Didn't say it explicitly, but yeah everything is already gloved and mask. Also different gloves for outside vs inside.

OneCryptographer

Actually lost perspective of how long 5 years is. Thanks

Delivery is always late at night. Bringing them in a couple stages.

  • patio to garage
  • garage to living room (acts sort of like an airlock)
  • living room straight to fridge

have air filters running

OneCryptographer

Thanks for your comments (and a few others you've posted). You make me laugh a bit.

I appreciate the bluntness and the sprinkling of empathy you've shown. Its definitely what I need right now.

OneCryptographer

TBH, the discussion around having kids and how we would raise them is what started a whole avalanche of things leading to me posting this.

OneCryptographer

Thanks a lot for your comment, I've read and re-read it multiple times.

OneCryptographer

Yeah, that's correct.

OneCryptographer

I wish it was.

OneCryptographer

I'll try to bring up therapy and getting help again.

OneCryptographer

A random anecdote that this reminded me of...

Before we were married (i.e. years before COVID), she would grab N95 masks from hospital for us to mask up when we were flying.

OneCryptographer

Yeah, the thought process was for the rest of our life.

I didn't really comprehend it until it was completely spelt out. She had a plan for almost everything.

OneCryptographer

She (a doctor) worked at the start of it and quit very quickly.

She insists she doesn't need a psychologist. Claims she'll convince them that she is perfectly fine.

OneCryptographer

She's scared of getting sick and dying. Thinks its an unnecessary risk

OneCryptographer

Yeah that's right.

OneCryptographer

I heard (from extended family) that my in-laws were planning an intervention (for both of us), and apparently my mum has talked to my in-laws about it too.

Not sure where things are at with that. TBH I'm too scared to ask.

OneCryptographer

Yeah, I think I have to confront the reality that this level of isolation is probably doing more harm than good.

OneCryptographer

Thanks all, Yeah this is a bit of a wake up call for me, as ridiculous as it might sound.

OneCryptographer

But this is ridiculous, and you will be lucky if your family has not just written you off for good at this point.

Yeah you're right about that. I actually spent the weekend thinking about the prodigal son parable.

OneCryptographer

Since we haven't gone out we never got the shots (as theres no need). If/when I go out, I probably will.
