Find places that are small and aren't focused. Also find a niche and be social in places. Make and post art often. If you aren't able to do make finished art often, it will be difficult to when you get a lot of commissions.

A new place isn't people's main problem. They just need to market themselves better and a website doesn't help that. Artistree and Vgen exist but people won't magically get more comms just by having one. I dunno if it's against their policy but I buy homemade stickers on mercari and artistalley.org is a place for digital and physical stuff, though is mostly fandom themed.

Go with demand. Don't take advice on pricing unless they are paying. If you are getting a steady account of comms and getting tips if you are able, then raise it.
PerformanceAnnual209
What kinds of places do you post on reddit and discord? How often do you make and post finished art?
PerformanceAnnual209
How much do you draw and post finished things between comms? Also it sucks but you need to follow demand. If you aren't getting comms, lower prices or have a sale. Get more eyes on your stuff then, if you get a ton of business, slowly raise them.
PerformanceAnnual209
Where do you socialize, post and advertise? Also make sure your pricelist matches your vgen. It says comms closed and the prices are different.
PerformanceAnnual209
I get that. That's why I mostly use smaller fandom related reddits and discords. Also tiktok, not for comms but just to post. Other stuff sucks XDD
PerformanceAnnual209
I would do $35 until you build up a client base then slowly raise the price depending on the demand. Your stuff is definitely worth more but getting clients is way more important right now. Where do you advertise and how often do you post finished stuff?
PerformanceAnnual209
Thank you, I got a little worried.
PerformanceAnnual209
That is true but this is mainly saying style is subjective. You need to find the people who will like your style.
PerformanceAnnual209
I found all mine on disboard.
PerformanceAnnual209
I only mean to help. I've been able to get consistent comms for years and I see people all this when their work is amazing. It's just never about their style being bad, just that they are liking in the wrong place. This is what works for me.
I'm sorry if it came off as mean. That was never my intent.
PerformanceAnnual209
I understand. I have social anxiety and adhd. General chats are so hard to engage with. Even small things like a compliment here and there is good. No need to fully engage in conversation.
PerformanceAnnual209
Yee yee. Most of my close friends I've made from there I got really close with after doing comms with them. Most of mine are mlp servers. I've been in a few dnd servers but now I just have return customers from there. Disboard is where I found them. If a server doesn't click with you, you can just leave it.
PerformanceAnnual209
Naw. I genuinely like the places I join. I like the people there but it's nowhere near a friends circle. I just chat, compliment people's art and post. Most of them are fandom focused but have a comm area that I use. There is no secret why I'm there. I like doing comms and sharing art and they know that.
PerformanceAnnual209
I got my first comm here but I get all of mine now on small discord servers. Just find lots of places that aren't art focused and small. Be social, be nice, make and post work often.
PerformanceAnnual209
I wouldn't. Just have a sale. I just sold a half body for $85 and have 3 headshots that are $50 each. I don't think it's the economy. It is a little but marketing yourself enough will get past that. You just need to get your name out there.
PerformanceAnnual209
This has nothing to do with your art or ai. Don't use art servers. Find small niches that focus on something else but also have an art section. Small server are better than big ones. And art servers are terrible for selling art. It's just people selling and barely anyone there to buy. Post often, try having a sale. Be social and try in as many places as you can. You will find people.
PerformanceAnnual209
Post literally everywhere and you'll find someone eventually. I have a couple people who REALLY love my art and I found them organically from drawing often and posting around.
PerformanceAnnual209
X,D I've sold 10-12 comms a month consistently for 3 years and have no following anywhere. Just post in small discord servers, be nice and be active. It's not great money, $400-700 a month, but I don't pay bills yet so that mostly goes into savings.
PerformanceAnnual209
It's not too hard. I just compliment people's art in small discord servers and join convos when I can. That works for me.
PerformanceAnnual209
Where, how and how often do you advertise and post art?
PerformanceAnnual209
My favorite that I have is mlp. Kind people and small communities. But it should be what you are passionate about. A not fandom one, animation. Even simple stuff. It's a lot easier to sell.
Other than the "it can't be stylized" part, it just feels like, pay attention to the outfit, the body type and the wisps are twins.
