The Guardian - Catie McLeod
Coles misled shoppers with its “Down Down” promotional tickets, the federal court has ruled in a landmark decision for the supermarket industry.Justice Michael O’Bryan has just handed down his judgment in the federal court in Melbourne, delivering a significant blow to Australia’s second largest supermarket chain, which had argued the discounts represented genuine savings.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) accused Coles of misleading shoppers regarding 245 products that it sold at one regular price for at least six months which it temporarily inflated the prices of and then dropped slightly as part of a “Down Down” promotion.
The strategy is known as “was/is” comparative pricing.
The Coles trial in February, which examined 12 products in detail, heard their first price was on offer for a median period of a year, before being increased to its second price, for a median of 28 days, before being reduced to a third “Down Down” price which was actually more expensive or equal to the first price.
Delivering his judgment this morning, O’Bryan said if the average shopper had known the “Was” prices on the items’ promotional tickets had been in place for such a short amount of time, they would not have thought the discounts were genuine.
He found the supermarket in giant engaged in misleading conduct, in contravention of the Australian Consumer Law.

Lefties [...] believe in criminalising [...] ideologies such as Nazism.
Nobody on any side of politics believes free speech is absolute. And lefties don't believe organised racial violence or acts of genocide are a form of free speech.
If righties can't agree on that they are in a very dark place indeed.

I think he's just keeping us updated on inbound fuel. It was April that had 6 cancellations that were more than replaced. Many were expecting April would be the last stable month -- it isn't shaping up that way, at least for now.

What's up with people calling Opinion/Analysis/Commentary articles "partisan and biased"? That is literally the point.

Australia is a special guest and SBS has repeatedly stated they would not withdraw on the basis of any country's participation. They do accept and respond to viewer feedback -- it's a generic message though.

What's wild is we all will eventually. Everyone gets older and develops age-related disabilities. But even when we are young and spry we benefit from accessibility -- don't need to hop up stairs on a broken foot, or trip up them when you're carrying something heavy like a child.

This drug is awesome for the developing world, but it's somewhat pointless in the Western world.
This is such a strange statement and comment in general.
All of the following people exist in the western world too:
- People who experience intolerable side-effects from pills, such as impacts to bone/kidney/gut
- People who need a discreet treatment (can't have a pill bottle at home)
- Anyone who would rather have a doctors appointment every 6 months over keeping tracking of daily (or episodic) pill taking
- Cisgender women and trans men, who need near perfect adherence to pills to be protected
- People who travel or do shift work or lead otherwise unpredictable lives
Difficulty with adherence is the single biggest factor that reduces the real world effectiveness of PrEP tablets.

The wardrobe malfunction was a small comfort, but a comfort nonetheless.

Judging by comments they are replying to on socials, they won't tell you that you haven't been offered a role because it's likely they will need to bring people on board all throughout as people drop out or become unavailable.
