Did you ever end up finding a solution to this?

Pixel-bit

This is great, thanks for going into such detail with the post, really appreciate it! Can't wait to dive into all of this. It's crazy what modders have been able to achieve with this game.

Why do you think standalone repair costs are higher than the premium care package they like to upsell to you?

I hope you're able to see through this. You're not wrong that something like AppleCare can seem like a bargain (especially if you have the cash to spare), but that's by design. Clever business shenanigans have convinced you that you need to pay extra and insure your phone, just so that your 'discounted' repair costs (that are otherwise highly inflated) seem lesser in comparison.

This is fascinating stuff, thanks for sharing. Do you have links to resources that go into this material pipeline in detail?

I can understand why the battery information has been segregated this way, but it's not entirely intuitive. You can check your Pixel's battery's cycle count in Settings > About phone > Battery information

I used to like Xiaomi's HyperOS, but it felt needlessly locked down. Does the OS still revert to navigation buttons when using a third-party home launcher like Niagara? Haven't been keeping track of the newer versions.

Pixel-bit

These ones seem to have a price hike on them already

This one's a nice and simple habit tracker I've been using for a while now. It's free, ad-free and open-source. Might not exactly be what you're looking for, but it's probably worth checking out.

You don't really notice the bezels once you start using the phone. Even more so if you're using a screen protector and a case.

Pixel-bit

What do you think of the phone so far? How has your day-to-day usage experience been?

My opinion: If you're not too fussed about the processor (which is fine for non-intensive daily use), I think the Pixel 9a/10a is great value around ₹35k, especially with the current inflated hardware pricing in the industry.

As a compact phone, it has IP68, e-SIM, USB 3.2 and international network bands. It's difficult to find these in most compact phones around ₹50k even. I suppose these specific hardware components are pretty niche for the average indian consumer (but OP really dropped the ball with the lack of eSIM and a proper IP rating on the 13S, they were so close!).

Rest of the hardware is fairly middling (display is great for a 1080p, and battery is great for a Pixel, but not as good as the competition), but that's why it's easier to make a case for it at ~₹30-35k, and definitely not at its original asking price of ₹50k.

Pixel-bit

Just FYI, the ₹30k Indian variant of the Moto Edge 70 doesn't come with an eSIM, that seems to be reserved for the costlier, international models.

But I agree, it's a well-priced phone considering its USP, especially when hardware prices are all going up.

Pixel-bit

Yeah this looks like a very real trend in phones this year. Oppo's not the only one with such odd pricing, Realme also released a few similarly high priced ones.

I think I'm going to have to start looking at last year's phones for some sensible value for money.

Pixel-bit

Exactly. With how much tech is being added to cars these days, things will keep improving and moving really fast every few months to a year, just like smartphones for example

Because of this, you can't really develop FOMO around such large purchases. Was your car the best thing you could buy at the time, according to your research? Then by all accounts, it's a perfect purchase.

Pixel-bit

I think sometime last year. All their cars now come with six air bags, at least for the top variants

Damn, I was just thinking about how limited the library experience in Hyderabad is.

Thanks for sharing, OP. I'm going to visit as soon as I can.

YouTube's never really followed Google's Material design guidelines closely, they seem to do their own thing.

I also remember they used to favour iOS when it comes to app features so this might just be another one of those situations.

Don't think material design is going to go anywhere, at least not for now

Pixel-bit

Out of curiosity, what do you think has changed with the 9 series for the better? Was looking into getting myself a Pixel 9a in the near future. I guess it's too early to say whether they'll turn out to have the same issues?

Pixel-bit

This is absolutely amazing.

I'm very curious, how do they get an environment like this to work with the Quest? What kind of optimization wizardry is this and how can I learn to optimize an environment with such quality and performance?

Are they able to do this/utilize hardware more efficiently because it's not a 'full' game?

Pixel-bit

You should join the game's official discord server: https://discord.gg/cXHcanXzzq

Lots of people there (including the devs) actively playing and discussing the game, I'm sure they'll be able to help you out and answer your queries :D

Pixel-bit

No virtus 😔😔

None of the mid-size sedans ever make it on these lists with their sub-2000 sales every month anyway lol

That version of WagonR EV was shelved a while ago, AFAIK. Their first EV will be the eVX, launching ~ early 2025.

No word on a Punch EV (or any other EV) competitor from Suzuki yet.

Carnival's going to relaunch this year, if you want to wait for it.

Pixel-bit

Yep, it's for enabling/ disabling the idle start/stop function, which turns the engine off temporarily when the car comes to a halt. Helps with the mileage in traffic. If it's turned off, you'll see the same A icon in the driver display. If it's turned on, there'll be no icon. Check the manual for more details.

Autocar India (generally quite reliable in my exp.) says they'll be announced sometime this month.

Companies are always going to try and find new ways of gaining and retaining subscribers so you'll keep seeing experiments like this. The shareholders are terrified of stagnation and require constant growth % every quarter/fiscal year.
