Ban the bot

Planetix

Is this a joke? You vibed a dumb app to fill a niche need and your thought to share it was host it and troll for subscriptions? For a fucking soil sensor?

That and your llm generated posts. Stop trying to take advantage of hobbiest communities with dumb “business” ideas.

Downvote this AI slop crap.

Planetix

More vibed bullshit that some idiot thinks is a business plan. Is there no end to this madness?

Planetix

Lot of you falling for this idiot AI “research” bot, the kind plaguing Reddit in general, and engaging with it which is why we keep getting more of them. The best way to deal with them is downvote and ignore.

Planetix

You are dumb as a rock.

Planetix

If you are where I am in Texas armadillos are another culprit . As others have said, they are digging for grubs. There are simple treatments to get rid of grubs and that will stop the digging, whatever it is that’s doing it.

Planetix

This sounded great in your head, I bet, but know you come across as an insufferable dickhead. Just a friendly heads up.

Planetix

Squirrel, fox, or other critter digging for grubs. You see it a lot when there are sudden cold snaps, where the ground isn't frozen yet and since most animals (especially the kind that dig in lawns for grubs) can detect incoming weather due to pressure changes they are more sensitive to than us what they do is go looking to load up on calories before the cold hits.

In Texas I've seen this a lot this winter due to A) Frequent cold snaps that B) Don't last long enough to freeze the ground and C) The last Cicada season ended this past summer so my lawn likely has tons of their grubs embedded in the soil. Animals can sniff them out - in my case, a small fox that I keep catching on one of my cameras.

Every damn sub gets overrun with this crap. Unfortunately it’s infected a lot of discussion forums - you can’t even pretend to have a real conversation about space policy on Ars Technica, to name one example, because a rabid bunch there hate Elon so deeply they can’t form a thought that doesn’t involve him. Shit is beyond old.

Planetix

They still haven’t figured out how badly they are being trolled on this. The amount of press ink and general hang wringing over this, the stupidest political hot potato in years, is astounding. The best possible thing they could have done was play right along with it and keep focus on actual issues but no.

Planetix

Exactly, goalpost moving.

Planetix

That article is one short step away from Star Trek fanfic.

He's not a Senior govt official, or even a junior one for that matter. He's a private citizen who the duly elected President-elect asked to study spending reductions to get our ridiculous deficit under control.

His "threat" consisted of stating anyone who voted for the bill deserved to be voted out come next election - and if that is a threat, then the entire world is guilty of making it at one point or another.

You need to learn to ignore sensationalist garbage news and focus on what's actually happening. In the case of Musk, I happen to think he's a narcissist douchebag who's taken an over-the-top share of credit and money for his success. He also appears to be able to get things done. Getting things done is the important part - case in point, douchebags come and go but this debt will grown exponentially worse if we don't start doing something about it. So now we have the king of the douchebags telling the weak-ass douchebags in Congress how it's going to be and if it gets us to where we need to be I'm ok with it.

Do I believe the government should subsidize these drugs? No. It distorts a market that is already badly distorted.

That said, let's not allow bad info about how the drugs actually work propagate either. GLP-1 drugs are not easy-mode shortcuts for lazy fat people who don't want to work out. You can be one while on the drug, sure, but that isn't how they work and you won't have a good outcome. They aren't old school appetite suppressors - though a lower appetite is one of the downstream effects - instead they work by stimulating the body's glucose absorption rate, so your body correctly balances the amount of insulin released by the pancreas. One effect of this is to tamp down on blood sugar spikes, which trigger hunger. They also slow digestion. One drug (Tirzapine, found in Zepbound/Monjuro) also has a component that moderates blood sugar further.

The result is you feel less hungry - because you genuinely are less hungry, because your body is essentially processing food correctly. It is fixing something that is broken in many people.

Now, if all you do is take the shot once a week and otherwise sit around and eat the same crap, just less of it, you will lose some weight, and you might feel a little better, but overall you'll just be treading water and when you stop the drugs the weight will come right back. The right way to use these new drugs is as a crutch - you will feel less hungry and you will crave food less, so you will have an easier time building new long term eating habits. You will also start to feel better and if you add exercise to the list you will lose and keep weight off even faster.

I don't think, among people who have never had a bad weight problem, there is much awareness around how hard that is to do when your body is releasing too much insulin, or not enough, because your GLP-1 gut hormone doesn't process it as well, and also your blood sugar constantly spikes throughout the day. Most fat people don't want to be fat and have tried many, many approaches to losing the weight. It is hard to do.

I'm living proof. I have lost nearly 100 pounds on Zepbound in the past year and today ride my bike 10-15k every morning for 30m, and lift weights 3-4 times a week. My diet is much better and I look and feel like a new person. This drug has been a miracle.

Still don't think it should be subsidized by Uncle Sam.

We don't know what the grand jury saw or other relevant details, but it clearly wasn't enough for an open and shut conviction, and if you don't have that, with the circus this kind of trial would have brought to town there's real potential for the JD to get more egg on their face than they already have if he was found innocent. This way they get to leave it hanging out there without a definitive conclusion.

Not that I don't think Gaetz is a weirdo, and very likely is guilty - there's a lot of undisputed smoke around this fire - and the timing of all this in general is suspect. I doubt Trump would waste political capital or attention for a week just to get a supporter out of a jam, but I wouldn't be surprised if his main goal was to stir the pot and signal far and wide that he's done fucking around, and getting Gaetz out of a jam at the same time was just convenient.

Personally, I am glad he is out and think Bondi is a much better choice who might actually be able to pull off restructuring justice. Gaetz can't lead, legislate, or govern.

This is clickbait written to start shit and be reposted. Downvote and move on

Planetix

No crazy ideas, no. Only really stupid ones :)

Planetix

I finally gave the ultimate power up "Not Interested" to Instagram itself.

Nuke it from orbit, it's the only way

Planetix

And where modern tabloid journalism stumbles, social media mobs would fill the gap.

I actually am a little surprised I haven't seen more conspiracy garbage floating around about this. Maybe I'm getting better at filtering it out.

Planetix

Not even remotely.

Planetix

See, you’d think that, but penis recognition is a slippery slope. One day they just want to flag all the cocks and block them, then they’re going to want to know who it was, and if the face is covered….

Of course then folks will just put condoms on to hide their specific penises. Come to think of it, that could in turn spur a major safe sex campaign. You know maybe it’s not such a bad thing after all! :)

Planetix

I'll let you in on my secret: I've been here the entire time....

Planetix

You called?

Planetix

This photo is manipulative propaganda at its best. It's one frame of a sequence where the General saluted Wallace, and Wallace returned said salute (as a National Guard commander, Graham normally reported to the governor - Wallace). After the salute, Graham said:

“It is my sad duty to ask you to step aside,” he said, “on order of the president of the United States.”

The entire interaction was choreographed beforehand. You'd never know it from the picture, which was deliberately selected to appear as though the two were having a tense confrontation.

Further detail can be found in this LA Times article: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1999-apr-26-mn-31259-story.html

Planetix

Now you're just being a condescending asshole. Nice.
