I had 13 years with Target in total, from TM to TL/Senior to ETL.

You can leave, but what you can jump to will depend on your titles. ETL-HR has the easiest time going to an HR at a regular office. ETL-Logistics at the time was good for moving to a supply chain style office role. All the others are sort of stuck using retail as their experience.

I always think of bending as an extension of how the bender moves. Their martial arts dictates the bending. For some yours, they make sense. For example, if an Water Bender fought like an Earth Bender, you'd see a potentially more Ice Armor/Brawler style to Water Bending. I think in terms of lore, I'd start there.

Fate is good because it forces the player to go through the writing exercise of making a core aspect, trouble, and 3 additional aspects. I'd argue DnD just makes characters come up with a Core Concept, and so the characters are more boring out of the gate, especially for players that don't feel creative at first.

For example, in DnD if you make a Vengeance Paladin that is an Orc from a burnt down village, in Fate you'd have that as "Orc with a Zealous Fire for Revenge". In DnD, that is all you really do to get started. Fate requires you to come up with those extra details (that are equally important in their system) that adds that extra detail to make the character feel real.

Start with your character personality before deciding a class and race. I’ll figure out the personality and voice first, then go through the books and figure out what style fits them best. I’ll often come up with 2-3 choices before finalizing on one for the personality I made. I also will select a race and class, then go make the character in Fate. Coming up with 5 interesting aspects makes the character far more dimensional than just using DnD.

I don’t think it makes the zealot more selfish. I also am mostly melee and don’t use much ammo, so either kit is for the team mostly. It actually makes me sacrificial for the team. If you have any missing health at a medicae, I’ll let you have it because I can not only be low health, but I have 7 wounds and passively heal my corruption. I can stretch out needing a medicae before the final boss rooms usually.

I will say as a zealot the only annoying thing is avoiding med kits the team puts down or healing grenades in motis trials. I’m never on low health in those scenarios when I’d like to be.

Positron49

I’m aware of the workarounds being pervasive. Many of those are no longer available, for example, if you are behind on student loans you no longer qualify for FHA extensions. Many other workarounds are liens on the back of the loan. It doesn’t solve the problem.

I’m saying overall transaction volume is low. If you are selling the least amount of homes per year in decades, the dollar value they are transacting at isn’t likely accurate. If supply picks up, are you confident there are enough buyers to absorb it?

Positron49

Because you might be “taking out” the thing you are attacking, so instead of “overkilling” it you can take a boost for the next thing you are going to do.

Positron49

Oh I don’t wish wish for it. I’m in the equity cohort. However I recognize that at this volume, you can’t speak with confidence as to the strength at these price levels. If it was healthy volume supporting prices, that would be one thing.

Additionally, it doesn’t take much movement to cause a crisis. 2008 started in weak borrowers and took years to impact the stronger cohorts. FHA delinquency is an obvious sign of problems.

Positron49

If you had a mortgage originated that is too high of a DTI, whether you havr equity or not doesn’t mean you can make the payments

Positron49

I honestly struggled getting the build to work not because low health was tough, you can stay there a while, but purposefully doing it can be hard. Often the team puts down the med kit near a boss fight or in wave someone gets healing grenades. So I’m losing my damage output at the hardest parts.

Positron49

It’s a pedantic way of saying that equity in a home is only one factor. Owners can have a lot of equity, but a consistent amount of sellers outpacing buyers will cause a crash. That’s the primary determining factor.

Positron49

The new builds without buyers will have 0% equity and will pull the average down.

Positron49

What was the original new median home price reported in October of 2022?

Positron49

Because those numbers are being revised to make the peak to trough look smaller. Home prices have dropped more than that. Shadow revise 2022 lower so 2026 doesn’t look bad in comparison.

Positron49

I want a new mission type called escort. The challenge of a normal mission but you also need to get a new player all the way through without dying.

Mutations are expressions of certain genes. Some mutants actually do have multiple distinct mutations, such as Nightcrawler being blue and acrobatic as his first and later getting teleportation.

Mutants like Wolverine are expressing a single genetic mutation, and it seems like multiple powers. For him, it should be pictured like a “feral animal” gene that is present, which is causing him to have the super smell, healing, claws. His strength is just from his healing repairing muscles as fast as he can damage them and his heavy bones building them up.

There are a handful of mutants that have a mutation like this. Toad or Angel come to mind as multiple powers, such as toads leaping, spit, wall climbing, and tongue or Angel’s hollow bones, enhanced vision, wings, perfect metabolism.

Positron49

There are a few things with these example characters that are different just to keep it canonically accurate…

Mystique, Emma, and Nightcrawler are all examples of two mutations (probably). That’s to say, Kurt was born blue with his acrobatic physique due to his parents. Then he developed teleportation later the same way other mutants do in puberty under stress.

Wolverine is an example of a mutant who has multiple powers, but the OP isn’t picturing it quite right. Wolverine’s mutation is more like “feral animal” mutations, so the smelling, healing factor, claws are all expressions of that same genetic manifestation. Another example is Angel, who is had enhanced vision, hollow bones, perfect metabolism, wings, improved healing. His power is really aviary genetics. Mutations are genetic expressions, so sometimes the powers are packaged in this way.

Positron49

There are two pieces I’d bring up.

First, if the ability to teleport or use psychic powers in general is rare in your setting, and you want to limit it, then that is one thing. I’d still make it a stunt, but it shouldn’t just be “I can teleport” as its result. I’d still make it something like “Because I can Teleport, once per scene I get a +2 to X when I’m using the teleport to Y”

Second, you have to remember that in Fate it’s not as powerful of an ability as you might think. It’s not about balancing encounters, but the fictional weight of things the character does. For example, we can make Nightcrawler in Fate, who teleports all the time. As the GM, if you set a difficult on breaking into a villain lair, it’s not easier for Nightcrawler to do it than Colossus to bust the door down. You still would set a +4 difficulty. Nightcrawler may say he teleports to the other side of the door and unlocks it from the inside. They spend a FP to get a +2 for the aspect “I can BAMF” and either succeed or fail. If they fail, you come up with something bad that happens, such as teleporting into a trap.

Point being, you set the difficult and the player puts together a way to solve it, teleporting is still worth +2 as an aspect or a stunt.

Positron49

Teleporting itself isn’t a stunt imo. The way you described it, it’s something the character can just do, and would likely be captured within an Aspect.

The Stunt should be focused on Actions or Skills/Approaches OR something you can’t normally do. For example, “Because Teleporting is second nature, I get a +2 to Overcome when getting into places I shouldn’t or that are normally inaccessible”

Positron49

"affordable" because the government pays for it....

Positron49

In a company like eBay, its worth asking. Especially when its "marketing" positions.

Positron49

I think the point is that its that high and could be much higher, and those profits could be used to grow marketshare.

Positron49

I would bet that almost no jobs will be replaced at most levels. The only applications I can see would be for HR and AP. They already largely use algos for pricing determinations that don't get enough improved profits by converting to AI. POGs are also messed up, I don't see AI helping that.

Positron49

I'd push to consolidate some of the aspects if possible and diversify the character a bit. Your concept is coherent, but I love using the aspects to add more details to make characters less one dimensional. So the more you can pack the ones you have the better imo.

Your high concept could replace "bitter-but-unbroken" with something in 3, 4, or 5, and it convey the same basic meaning. For example, "Lizard Whaler with a God-Sized Grudge" can open up 3. We can assume a character with a "God-Sized Grudge" is someone likely bitter but unbroken.

4 and 5 could also potentially combine too. One is about picking up culture and the other appears to be projecting his old group onto people. Something like "Longing to Find my Crew and Keep It" could satisfy both of those, as he tries to fit in with people (because they could be his next family) and keep it would be defending them.

Your Trouble I think is fine. I'd just make sure you are clear how it should work out with compels. For example, does he suspect everyone of being a secret member of this cult that is hunting him? You could compel him to be suspicious of people or assume they are undercover at any time.

With your extra aspects, I'd think through what other types of scenes you'd want to see him in.

Positron49

All of mine start with one or two characters....

I did a character based on Gon from Hunter, made him a Lycan Blood Hunter, and the backstory based on Bug's Life (Grasshoppers were bad werewolves).

I did Varrick from Legend of Korra, but he loses his company and becomes a Warlock to get it back from the board that ousted him.

Usually I start with a voice I like to do, look at disney movie plots, and try and reskin it all to fit into some interesting race/class combination.
