Turkey is Muslim, yet dogs are everywhere.

PotentialBat34

She's having a blast

idgaf about how he might've hurt your feelings. Obama might be a saint for you, but for me and many in the Global South he is the reason why Syria and Libya is in such a state nowadays, he is responsible for the excessive drone warfare that hit civilians even today, where his appointed officials exclaimed "oopsie, we accidentally bombed an entire village of people" after denying it for days.

Then again, idgaf about how American incompetency resulted with domestic deaths too. Even though it is tragic, it is at your own fault. You however don't get the pass to start a civil war that displaced 12 million people while killing almost a million and cry wolf too. And what the fuck is wrong with you to say 30000 people got killed as if this was a random number you can throw around? I wish you can live through loss of your loved ones for 30000 times too. what the actual fuck is wrong with you?

PotentialBat34

you mfs come here and assimilate in a generation. i only wish we could've gotten more of you. like we used to get good immigrants. nowadays we get not so good immigrants.

PotentialBat34

I am still surprised none showed up to claim ebic Turkish dude from 16th century is actually super duper Iranian

PotentialBat34

Isn't it actually Azerbaijani Turks ruling over Iran :D

PotentialBat34

I can picture poor Greek conscripts at the hands of Bağcılar youth. How they are being paraded around the skyscrapers of Esenyurt, all tied up, don't know what the fuck is going on. Gaziosmanpaşa gypsies might even start using them as drug mules. I might even pity them.

PotentialBat34

why are you posing as a w*stoid, where you are arab?

PotentialBat34

Greeks look nothing alike to Yugoslavs.

PotentialBat34

Given your (in)ability to reason throughout this thread, I would encourage you to express your points more thoughtfully in the future then. As it stands, your wording comes across as either intentionally rage baiting or indicative of an inability to articulate your perspective clearly. Neither reflects particularly well, and for that I feel sorry for you.

PotentialBat34

I remember you. Aren't you literally a FETÖ member, trying to prove Turkey shouldn't exist in Turkish subs? And you also have your posts hidden. I quite possibly wouldn't even care to throw a snot at your direction IRL.

PotentialBat34

My kind of topic.

hiçamahiç - Vazgeçme (obscure İstanbul band, black gaze)

pembe - Sen kaybolmadan (black gaze)

pembe - Nedenler bulunur (black gaze)

The Away Days - Best Rebellious (shoegaze)

She Past Away - Durdu Dünya (shoegaze)

Turkey has a booming indie rock scene, my favorites being:

  1. Fırtınayt - Büyük Ev Ablukada (very progressive, 2010s electronica album) Büyük Ev Ablukada as a band defined what we call Kadıköy sound in Turkey; and established themselves as frontrunners of a new, avant-garde Turkish rock scene called Üçüncü Yeniler. Quite an innovative band, although seen very hipsterish, and white collar.
  2. Nekropsi. Pitchfork-core legends of Turkish underground scene.
  3. Palmiyeler. Kind of reminiscient to Mac Demarco and DIIV.
  4. Jakuzi. Synthpop.
  5. Lalalar. Part of neo-psychodelic revival in Turkey. At least give a listen to Hiç Mutlu Olmam Daha İyi

Turkey has its own genre of rock music, called Anatolian Rock. Nowadays the most popular outlet is Turkish-Dutch band Altin Gun. I can dig up more stuff if you want, although nothing else comes to my mind that gained traction recently.

Honorable Mentions:

  1. Sapan. They broke up some years ago. Eskişehir band. Very mellow, strokes like indie rock.
  2. Sakin. Again, 2000s indie rock sound.
  3. Mor ve Ötesi. THE TURKISH ROCK OUTLET. Everyone in their cradle know about them here.
  4. 123. Very jazzy, very pre-pandemic sound.
  5. Balina. Industrial, math-rock duo.
  6. Reptilians from Andromeda. Another obscure outlet from Turkish Punk legend Tolga Özbey. Last time they released was 2022 so I don't think they are around as a band anymore.
  7. Hedonutopia. Dream popish, shoegaze sound. You should check them as well.
  8. In Hoodies. Another indie outlet you should check. A Lunar Maneouver is hell of an album.
  9. Cemiyette Pişiyorum. Probably the greatest punk rock outlet ever to come out of Turkey.

I don't listen to much Black Metal, but I am hearing more and more about Zifir nowadays.

edit: How can I forget about TurkoDiRoma?

PotentialBat34

So you think you know my country better than me, a Turk who lives and breathes here? Do you know how outrageously naive and misguided (in lack of a better word, because reddit's ToS do not allow such lexicon) you sound?

PotentialBat34

I wish we could import millions of Central Asian immigrants over here😔

PotentialBat34

I mean we can strive for a more economically prominent Turkish minority in Iran, secure cultural rights for them, and have a budget lobbying group a-la-AIPAC over there, which have been the official Turkish line for decades now. Why have a very small portion of it where you can have it all?

PotentialBat34

This. The US is goner for sure, like most empires it got defeated demographically and will slowly but surely fade away into internal conflicts. What White Americans achieved was quite something though, they at one point controlled 60% of Earth's entire GDP, advanced the humanity hitherto unknown and gave us the modern world as we know it. Seeing their fading out of history makes me, someone who grew up with teen drama of early 2000s, Avril Lavigne and Linkin Park, somehow melancholic but alas it is what it is.

Although pretty sure a certain group in the region is propping up India to replace the US as its patron. But India is 1/3 Muslim, and is predisposed to serious 5th column activity. I guess we'll see how the events unfold.

PotentialBat34

I've read this entire thread, and my oh my.. Why do you lot keep comparing yourselves to Turkey and somehow see yourselves more unique, or rather, more successful? Please do not mention us in any way or form, we have nothing in common with Persian-speaking community. Just keep on attending to we-want-a-shah-but-what-we-really-want-is-democracy rallies and keep inventing pdeudo-statistics and historical fallacies.

PotentialBat34

Islam made them gr8 but their countries are either slave built petrodollar hell holes or literally failed states. Only countries that somehow function are countries that belong to tent people.

PotentialBat34

We do claim to be part of a cultural sphere that is also coincidentally Muslim, you just either straight up not know that or just trying to cherry pick facts. Turks are extremely proud of their conquering heritage, and most do in fact claim ancestry from Asia, although it seems that which part of Asia they do claim to be part of and who these conquerors are do not fit into your agenda.

FWIW, I would advise reading more onto topics you have no notion of before being confidently wrong online.

PotentialBat34

I don't think Republic of Azerbaijan will be too keen for a reunification

PotentialBat34

Sounds a lot like us when you put it this way
