I already told you. You are clearly unwell and chasing me down across conversations.  If you don't vote and won't say who you support, you aren't exercising your political power.  If you can't do that, you are not serious about addressing this issue and not worth my time to engage

I live in kansas and I will vote a straight democratic ticket. 

I'm not spamming. I'm asking folks, who say they support Palestinian rights but then encourage voters to not exercise the only power they have to make change, to themselves make an affirmative choice.

. . . Asks the guy who only posts during the middle of the work day. /s But, I will answer your question. I am finishing up my third graduate degree at the moment, but I have about 25 years of prior experience in law and social work. I will be re-entering the work force next spring.

While we have so far disagreed about this issue, you have previously come to my defense about having a "Christian job." So, we may have a common language for a more productive conversation. In that vein, let me attempt to answer your question as a fellow believer.

Jesus and his followers were challenged repeatedly for their radical vision of what God's kingdom looks like. Frequently, when asked what authority he and his followers had to assert this alternative world view, he responded, "Wisdom is justified by its deeds."

And so, I will let my defense be the same.

My position is non-partisan. It is a sincere attempt to live by the express command of Jesus to "welcome the foreigner among you" as set forth (with penalties of eternal damnation for non-compliance) in Matt 25: 31-46.

I am compelled to follow that command, without regard to party or country, if I am to be earnest in my desire to follow Jesus.

We can get into the weeds about laws if you want, but it is clear that there is a racist and intentionally hurtful way that immigration policy and enforcement is being conducted under the current administration. For instance, calling our immigrant neighbors "criminals" and "rapists" with "bad genes," is clearly intended for hate. It is the motivation for the current surge in enforcement and it is emphatically inconsistent with the express commands of Christ.

And so, my "wisdom" relies not on my degrees or my work experience. It relies on following Jesus in the face of a country that is rejecting him all over again. I am confident that this will produce the deeds/fruit consistent with true wisdom in the long run.

The righteous fight is on the left side or the right. It is on Jesus' side. And, I invite you to join me. "To those who have ears, let them hear."

Based on your comment history and your avatar name, you present youself as a sad person seemingly without something outside your life to live for.  I am guessing you also compensate for this sadness by attempting to make other people feel bad as well. 

That really sucks.  You deserve better than that and so do those around you. I am willing to try and engage you about our values, if we can meet as equals with respect.  I am guessing there is something i can learn from you, and I'm guessing you can benefit from some positive human interaction. Trolling all the time cannot possibly feel fulfilling. 

 If you live in olathe, I encourage you to make some friends, preferably not on line. Even better, try meeting some immigrant ones.  There are a bunch of good churches and community organizations here. Heck, even the community center is a place to build positive relationships just while working out.  

It is true that I am an attorney and that I will continue to report harassing comments and those impersonating law enforcement.   You do not have to agree with me, but i will not tolerate attempts to threaten or intimidate me or others. 

Even so, I wonder if we can engage again in another way.  If that is not possible on this forum, I will pray for you in sincerity. Your values are not consistent with my faith.  That said, you too are a child of God and worthy of diginity and love.  I hope that you feel that every day. When you do, I am confident that you will think and act differently about these things and about our community 

I'll respond once more because you are clearly trying to intimidate me and others who care about immigrants into thinking we are acting unlawfully.  

The Statute you cite deals primarily with transportation of "non citizens" across the border.  Further. ICE activity is not limited to noncitizens without legal status. It also affects people with legal status (tps algerians in olathe), people with brown skin subject to kavenaugh stops, and even US citizens (renee good and Alex pretti). And all law enforcement is accountable to the public for its actions, such that they are taken in compliance with constitutional and statutory criminal procedure protections.

Further nothing in the statue prevents my constituional rights to free speech, free association, and free religion (my positions are shaped by matt 25 and are sincerely held). Documenting ICE activity in my community is no more a crime than Google maps reporting speed traps on maps. And, in my case,  it ensures public accountability while also protecting all my neighbors, immigrant or not. 

If you are law enforcement as you say, come at me. I assure you I am a licensed attorney with experience clerking for state and federal judges.  I'm not afraid.  

I'm happy to be the lead plaintiff in a section 1983 case against the county and state, should the local "sheriff" try to harass me based on a severely-strained interpretation of  a federal law that it lacks subject matter jurisdiction to enforce. My kids need to go to college. 

Moreover I'm ready to see that case to completion, as it will help build legal precedent and media publicity that establishs exactly what I'm saying herein.

 Specifically, p rotesting ICE policy and enforcement, documenting law enforcement activity and  compliance with constitutional criminal pricedure protections, and supporting all my immigrant neighbors with their health, legal rights, and personal welfare is not, and never will be, illegal. 

I maintain without fear that it is my constitutional right to believe, say, and act on these values; it is my legal obligation as an officer of the court to defend the vulnerable in my community; and it is the clear command of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to welcome the foreigner among us (matt 25).

So, let that be the record.  You can use it at my arraignment. 

Meanwhile, I have messaged the mods about your repeated attempts to intimidate me and others engaged in this conversation while also impersonating law enforcement. Since you have chosen not to stop, I will work with them to escalate as necessary until you stop.

These folks are the reason Kansas still has a hillbilly reputation.  Some rural folks live in an echo chamber in their small ponds, and don't realize how stupid and out of touch they sound to the rest of the world.  They think everyone thinks like them because they only ever interact with the same small group of people.  We Kansans are better than this and deserve better. Further, your "leave the third world in the third world" sure sound racist and inconsistent with Jesus' teaching on love your neighbor (including the Samaritans and endless list of outsiders and outcasts he championed.
