Chess was very famously seen as a way of showing the soviet superiority against the westerns.
Tetris on the other hand, iirc, was first made in the context of a university? I’m not sure though. I believe that soviets did distribute the game, but its creator didn’t get too much sales revenue
I might be making up the Tetris part out of my ass though ngl. Don’t trust me on that
In any case, game boy and capitalist distribution played a huge part in making Tetris the worldwide success it is now. But like, the game itself is also just awesome

I do think there are some reasonable things that an average player wouldn’t know. Mainly things that are not in the game they interact with or those which are time limited
Spamton sweepstakes, for example.
That kind of player would absolutely know who dess is, but might not know the “lost girl” monologues hidden in the code
I think they might be aware of friend, but not every aspect of it (like, for example, the hidden face in chapter 4)
Etc etc
Poyri35
Oh, I’m blind lol. You seem to be having a great game though ngl
Poyri35
I’m not the most knowledgeable about these mechanics, but here’s my idea:
Italy won the Ethiopian war -> Italy chose to integrate Ethiopian general to reduce resistance/increase compliance (through a focus and event chain)
Then, Italy went through a civil war or a government change (notice how the name is different and they are non-aligned) -> Game did not find any preset rulers -> a general became a ruler
Italy also seems to be the puppet of greater Hungary? So that could be the reason as to why a civil war broke out (Both sides of Italy become puppets, in this case it would be non-aligned Hungary’s puppet)

Fair point, I don’t really drink those types of drinks, so they didn’t come to my mind. Thank you!
You can probably scoop it with your finger, but I can see how that would be a hygiene issues
Poyri35
It does affect a universal file, marking a variable that’s names something like “B_side_completed” 1/true (I don’t remember the exact name)
It does mean that it could change the normal route. But, If I had to guess, it’s to make sure you can select 7B in the future.
Well, I hope so anyway. In undertale, the soulless pacifist ending “worked” since there is just one save file. You overwrote the same world to make amends
It Deltarune, the same concept wouldn’t work between different saves
Poyri35
Genuinely, does it even actually bother anyone? I cannot think of a single time where it hindered my experience or capability to drink from it
It’s good for me, since I can’t lose or drop the cap, so I don’t have to finish the drink at that moment
It’s good for the environment, since plastic caps won’t fly off to god knows where, chocking turtles and shit
It’s a win-win really
Poyri35
Every secret has a way to access it lol. By that logic, jevil isn’t a secret boss since you are given the keys and access to the ??? floor
Your first go back, iirc, is required to be through actually reloading the save file (at least it was on launch, idk if they changed it)
Poyri35
I beg of you people, please play other games
The knight fight is designed to look like a scripted loss. Thats the entire point, thats why the actual fight is called secret by some people
The cutscene afterwards isn’t a “game design because the fight is hard and people might get stuck”, it’s a story design. The plot literally cannot continue if you don’t lose
When you go back, the voice even comments on you returning even though everything seemed hopeless
You are clouded by the fact that you are only looking through your own, “already knows deltarune” lense
Poyri35
If I had to guess, it was to bypass the “reduced by distance” modifier
But like, who needs a Japanese ally this badly that early into the game lol
Poyri35
Both frisk and chara have characterisation. But frisk’s is really small compared to Kris, and chara you just straight up name them, but they are also more developed than frisk I feel like
There would probably be less confusion if the genocide ending wasn’t the fallen child too lol
While those two aren’t literal blank slates, it’s a much more understandable to say we are meant to in some part project ourself to them, when compared to Kris
At least for frisk and chara, there isn’t anything concrete to show their “non-binary”ness. So saying they are ambiguous is probably better, as most things can fit without creating problems
Poyri35
“They couldn’t tell the difference” is not a valid reason to misrepresent or erase languages
You can just, not have the voice acting. But you shouldn’t replace it with something that only sounds similar if you don’t know jack shit
Replacing the word Dutch with Scottish does not change the meaning I am trying to convey at all.
Poyri35
That’s just Eurocentricism and cultural appropriation. Döner as you described it already existed in Turkey before it was brought to Germany
In fact, looking around the region, we can see its influence. Like the Greek gyros (which comes from the Greek word for turning, just like how the word döner comes from the Turkish word for turning)
And the shawarma in arabic regions, which again comes from the Turkish word çevirme, meaning again to turn
People ate döner with bread ever since its invention. Do you really think putting meat in bread couldn’t have been thought before
Not to mention that döner isn’t even the only type of meat that is skewered and cooked on open flame while being constantly rotated
Also, just because Americans decide to make pizza with a lot of oil, doesn’t mean that pizza is invented in America lol. Döner kebab is the name of the meat, not a singular dish
Poyri35
That’s really shitty behaviour ngl
“Oh this game takes place in England? They should just use Dutch voice actors. They won’t know the difference anyway”
Poyri35
I believe that PoP was added afterwards, and Silksong isn’t done yet!
PoP is just a masterpiece in buildup and atmosphere, it’s hard to surpass it. The music slowly rising, the reward at the end… Even the difficulty helps tremendously in setting up the tone.
Poyri35
Even a player who never reads anything in omori would be happy to see mari, since she is intristinctly tied to safety via the game mechanics
Dess lacks this connection with the player, so I agree with you. Its going to be a "Ohh okay" not a "Oh god!"
Poyri35
I think the egyptian order and the greek kosmos are technically seen as proto-templars
Poyri35
LLMs fucking scary man
I find myself sometimes reading the gemini responses when I’m down on my mental health side of things. Mostly at night, where you can’t reach out to anyone and you just start googling stuff just to not feel alone
It’s very fucking tempting. I’ll never forgive google for forcing that shit into every search, nor will I ever forget
I should really switch everything to duckduckgo or something idk. It gets tiring writing “-ai” every time
To OP, seriously go have a talk with them. Don’t go in saying “you don’t know how ai is using data centres as xyz”, though you should mention it too later
Poyri35
“Nooo guys, I’m polluting the water supply to make a point about how others pollute the water supply! It’s totally fine”
I get the point, but that doesn’t mean that I support it. Just because it’s intentional doesn’t mean it can’t be shitty
(I honestly hadn’t even thought of the fact that ai data centres actually does sometime pollute the water lol, coincidence)
Poyri35
Other comments have already explained it in a great way, but I want to add two more things that genuinely affects the score that isn’t talked as often.
\
)
- If the author is already known:
Think about it, there are thousands of books published every month, but you won’t hear most of them. Even if they are great, it takes time to be discovered. But if a known author released a story, it would be talked more. Thus, more people would hear about it and read it. And even potentially share it
And since to be a known author, you need to be good at writing, chances are the people who will read the story will upvote it.
2) The article is longer/has more to talk about:
You can read the perfect short story, but if there is less to talk about, chances are it will be talked about less. And thus, be heard less.
This doesn’t mean that an article has to be long to have more to talk about, far from it. But from a numerical standpoint, a longer story will have more parts that can be talked about. If you want a short story to have a lot of talking points, you risk the main point to be lost. A short story that talks about everything talks about nothing.
So, writing a rich and deep short story requires an exceptional understanding of storytelling, of human nature, of language and many other things, which only comes with experience. At that point, you are probably going to be known in some circles, feeding into the first point
Poyri35
I think what they meant to say is that, unlike the past 2 seasons, it’s way more clever, integrated into the boys’ story line and the overarching joke, and regained some subtlety while still being direct
For the love of god, compare that to the “Haha, he has a small penis for the 50th time”
Poyri35
Even as a non-American, I don’t mind the politicalness at all.
But I think having shorter seasons that have a plot focus, without any odd episodes in between, hurt the pacing and the feel a lot.
I also feel like they got too dependent on repeated jokes? They always did this, don’t get me wrong, but I felt them way more in the new seasons
There is only so many times one can find “The president is naked with Satan and has a small dick” an enjoyable joke
Poyri35
Am I crazy, or is there tons of penises and balls???
Poyri35
The fact a that there are multiple people here blaming the Israel government (or implying that it feels like this is done by them) must be really convenient for antisemites and neonazis
You aren’t criticising jack shit, you are allowing actual racism to pass through
It doesn’t matter how “good” you are at writing. All that matters is that it’s you
Writing is more than just putting information down. And trust me, half the fun of writing is the writing itself.
Just try it. The more you’ll do (and take good criticism), the more you’ll get better naturally
