You can do the same thing with a VM if you set up SR-IOV, which isn't that hard, as I just got it working last night. I have 7 virtual GPUs, left number 0 for the host, registered number 1 in Datacenter > Resources, then added the mapped device to my Docker VM. Works flawlessly, while I still get a display on my host, which I can see through a JetKVM.
PraetorXyn
I'll pay for it if it gets Linux support. Not much use to me on Windows as at the moment I'm using Corsair stuff and have to use iCUE anyway.

The price point on these are damn tempting. But I’ve had my heart set on an HL15 for a while. At that price though, I’m a few years I might pick one of those up to use as my backup NAS though.
PraetorXyn
Congrats, though I'm curious how you even ordered one as they've been perpetually out of stock as far as I'm aware.
I'm eyeing a HL15 from 45 Homelab for mine (I fell in love with that chassis as soon as I saw it), but I'll admit the UNAS is very tempting from a value standpoint. It is head scratchy to me that it apparently doesn't support NFS or iSCSI though, SMB is very slow in comparison.
I don't even have any Ubiquiti gear yet, though i'm hoping to put in a rack this year. I just have to get a big chunk of the basement finished, as I don't currently have room for one.
When I move my office down there, I will put a server rack down there for the HL15, and the Unifi gear will either go in that rack, or I'd have to put a network rack where my office is now and uplink to a switch in the server rack over a fiber line.

Thank you! That’s what I assumed, but I couldn’t find anything confirming it online, hence the post.
PraetorXyn
Apparently so. Maybe Thermaltake fans are weird or something. Noctua is the industry standard in a case with a closed side panel so you don’t have to care about how ugly they are lol
PraetorXyn
I found it:
On this video, there's a comment from mcvbruno:
I built my NAS with this case a few months ago and I faced the same issues I want people to know if they buy this case. I thought I was going to get away with 50-60% speed on the stock disk fans and I was so happy the NAS was so quiet at first, but the SAS drives quickly raised to the 60s degrees. After playing with the fans speeds I was still unsatisfied with 50+ degrees on full speed. plus the noise. Looking at the specs I'm certain they lie on these fan specs. I bought two Noctua NF-A9 PWM because thicker = more static pressure (yes they fit with no issues) and even at full speed it's so much quieter and cooler (45 degree max temp on hottest disk under load). I also isolated (with tape) the whole disk cage to force the fans to get air from the front and not recycle air from the case.
Other than that I'm happy with this case.
TLDR for everyone that is considering this case:
- Get 2x Noctua NF-A9 PWM if you want quieter
- Isolate the disk cage to force airflow through the disks with fresh air from the front
- If your PSU has the turn off fan feature (my case I used seasonic focus), set the fan as always on to help circulate air on that zone!
PraetorXyn
NF-A9 IS a static pressure fan. It has nearly as much static pressure as a NF-A12.
But I'm just second-hand reporting someone's experience with this case with NF-A9's. Said it was fine. I will see if can dig up the exact comments, as I want to think it mentioned temperatures.
PraetorXyn
I dunno, I saw a comment on another build video from someone saying they replaced the fans with NF-A9 PWM and it was fine, so that's what I was going to do if I went with it.
The HL15 would still be better though if I can make the room for it.
PraetorXyn
I’m in the exact same boat. I’m not particularly worried about the fans in the SilverStone, as in either case I’d be replacing the stock fans with Noctua for lower noise and better cooling.
The SilverStone seems to just have much better design and features etc., so to me it basically comes down to if you can get by with mATX and 5 expansion slots and fewer drive bays or not, as the N5 can hold E-ATX and thus basically however many PCIe cards you need in whatever configuration.
The ideal solution would be to find space for a Half-depth rack and spring for a HL15. The HL15 is very pricey for just the case, but fully configured it’s fairly reasonable IMO. Toolless, caddy less, hotswap bays, built like a tank, rivet less stainless steel construction, and it’ll be a centerpiece that everyone asks about.

While I think the quest requirements are fine, Tomes of the Warlock requiring 86 Archaeology definitely isn’t. That’s an absurd requirement for a quest that low in the chain.
I just started playing again on July 24 after a 13 year hiatus, and Archaeology has not been a priority for me so it was around 50 or so when I found out about that requirement for this event a few days ago. I put all weekend into it and got it to 70, but I very much doubt I‘ll be able to get it up to 86 AND do 4 or 5 quests AND beat this boss before the event is over.
Hopefully I can get enough Moonstone Shards for all the rewards without fighting the boss, and hopefully the boss will stick around so I can fight it when I meet the requirements.

I don't know what USB activation is. I don't see any such thing in the MeshCentral documentation I'm seeing.
I don't know that I've had both connected at once, but fairly sure I have.
PraetorXyn
Sorry, I thought I responded to this earlier. About 4 days ago, I tried the npm version. It worked better, to where I could connect through AMT remote KVM, but only while the machine was running. When I reset the machine to BIOS, the remote connection was lost, while I still had it in MeshCommander, so it still wasn't working 100%. I haven't felt like messing with it since then, so that's pretty much where it sits as of now.
I'm planning to switch to Traefik anyway, so I'm hoping that once I do that I will have better luck.
PraetorXyn
Made some progress. After redoing things somewhat according to the documentation (though I'm using the ssl / resolve config swag does for you instead of doing it by hand), setting up the port forward in nginx, I still get nothing at meshcentral.domain.com:4433, but after running apf cira, it did start the cira tunnel and after that, the Connect button became enabled under the Intel AMT tab. I was seeing all the hardware info and stuff, had all the power options etc., but Remote Desktop didn't work, as when I tried to connect it would just immediately disconnect.
I shut the machine down to see if MeshCentral would still be able to issue power on commands like MeshCommander can, and no dice. So it's obviously not fully working, but after beating my head against this for a couple days some progress feels pretty good.
PraetorXyn
I'm planning to switch to Traefik when I get the MS-01 setup, so if nginx doesn't support it it's not the biggest deal, though the MeshCentral documentation makes it seem like it should.
https://ylianst.github.io/MeshCentral/meshcentral/
This page has examples for nginx, Traefik, and HAProxy, and it specifically mentions setting up CIRA with nginx, so I assume it's supported.
I just don't know what port the 4433 is supposed to be forwarded to on the AMT interface or whatever. I haven't wrapped my head around that. I can use that page and try messing with both the nginx config and meshcentral config.json to see if I can get something working.
PraetorXyn
I get nothing at meshcentral.domain.com:4433, so this is probably the issue.
For me, the reverse proxy and Mesh Central host is 192.168.1.28, and the AMT host is 192.168.1.21. So should I be forwarding 192.168.1.28:4433 to 192.168.1.21:16993 (or some other port) or the other way around?
I've never done anything like this in nginx before, so this is new territory for me. I tried this, but it made no differenec: ``` stream { upstream amt { server 192.168.1.21:16993 }
server { listen 4433; proxy_pass amt; } } stream { upstream amt { server 192.168.1.21:16993 }
server {
listen 4433;
proxy_pass amt;
}
}
``
All I get when I runapf cirais:
Started APF tunnel`
PraetorXyn
I'm not forwarding it in the router, because at the moment I'm not trying to do any of this externally. This is all inside my LAN (I have domain.com also configured as my local domain in dnsmasq and set it and the subdomains to point at the swag host in local DNS in Pi Hole):
```
address=/.domain/192.168.1.28
local=/domain.com/
```
I'm not doing anything with it in the Docker Compose / swag configs I posted above. Should I be?
I can access the AMT server at https://192.168.1.21:16993 as I configured it with the static IP of 192.168.1.21. I didn't see anything mentioning that port in any of the instructions I've seen, but I'll admit I didn't do a deep dive.

What if any missables are there? I don't have time to play games more than once these days, and I refuse to miss anything, so if there are any missables like the final Clive event in Suikoden 2 that required you to play through the game very quickly, I'll have to wait for a guide.
PraetorXyn
No. In the extremely unlikely event I'd be away from home somewhere without internet access, I'd probably be doing other things (like hanging out with friends) or reading.
PraetorXyn
Two years late so I doubt you still care, but I stumbled upon your comment at random asking myself why I was still running Plex when I'm also running Jellyfin and Emby and Plex has been bogging down my CPU all day to detect intros and end credits because I renamed folders / files to put TVDB / TMDB IDs in them today.
The best bet is to get a better client device with better codec support like an AppleT or Nvidia Shield Pro (make sure to set the player to libvlc in settings if you're using AndroidTV like the Shield Pro), etc., and use Swiftfin on any Apple-based thing or Jellyfin on AndroidTV or Findroid on Android phones (the reason you want to use alternative apps for Android and iOS is that the "Jellyfin" app is a wrapper around a web app).
The apps for smart TVs are convenient, but they're always the least maintained with the worst codec support etc. If you try to watch 4K Blu-Ray rips with a smart TV app it might force a transcode anyway, which defeats the whole point of having a 4K rip.
If you don't want to do that though, you might be able to cast from the app on your phone to your TV, but I've never needed to attempt this so I don't know if it would work.
You could also consider using Emby instead of Jellyfin. Emby has a premium tier with a lifetime membership and a bunch of convenience features like intro skipping and credit skipping just like Plex does, but it requires no remote authentication at all. They have a service called Emby Connect that can help normal people locate your server if you don't have your own domain name and putting in an IP address is too complicated for them, etc., but if your internet was out, remote users wouldn't be able to reach the server anyway so it's no big loss if Emby Connect doesn't work without internet.
PraetorXyn
You can if you explore the device. Maybe not to the Steam Deck, but I use KDE Connect to copy music folders to my phone all the time.
PraetorXyn
If they'd make one with a PS d-pad and analog layout it'd be an instant buy for me. I just don't like the Xbox layout, so I rarely use my Xbox Elite Series 2 these days.
