OP could probably use a calendar and an accountant for some advice, too. /s

However, the lack of clear info might be why you said “almost certain,” and I said, “not always.” A difference without a distinction.

OP has a lot of issues that Reddit can't solve.

No, you are mistaken as is the article.

All parents must now have to apply and supply documents, as it is income-based.

All children who have graduated from Japanese elementary and junior high school still qualify for the same subsidy (now capped at family incomes of below 9.1M).

Further, a NEW system EXPANDS support for Japanese and non-Japanese high school students alike who do not qualify for the above assistance.

Again, all families must apply.

Did everyone commenting carefully read the chart and understand Japanese law enough to make meaningful comments? Taxes, social insurance, and basic immigration compliance were already codified obligations.

The table on X is not something new from a wet-behind-the-ears minister inventing sadistic rules for fun who gets to take the fall. It is the bureaucracy consolidating existing tax, social-insurance, immigration, and document-compliance obligations into one format, with PR-status consequence attached only to serious, willful misconduct.

Willful and repeated tax and other malicious misconduct has been treated seriously in Japan for decades. This is Marusa no Onna (1987) territory, not a new 2026 invention.

The new part is that serious, willful actions can now be treated more clearly as an immigration issue, but not “immediate revocation” or “you cannot pay, so you will be deported.”

If someone honestly cannot pay or has problems and goes to the relevant office, Japan has established practical systems to reduce, exempt, or defer payments or obligations for those in need. That has not changed.

Further, “harboring” means “to knowingly hide someone or help someone evade enforcement.”
It does not mean being friends with someone who owes taxes.

The target is not inability. The target is willful misconduct: false documents, false filings, concealed assets, and deliberate assistance in evading tax, social-insurance, or immigration enforcement.

Such conduct was already illegal.

The chart puts these issues in one place. The problem here is not kink. It is conflation.

No it does NOT say enacted, but instead, a few politicians noted 「異論があがってきた。」. The title is clickbait, downvote it.

I can’t help you anymore with your inability; best of luck living in a country you have a difficult time understanding, much less the music business.

Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism publishes recall information for all manufacturers. Every brand has recalls; that comes with producing complex precision machinery.

Before buying, however, it is worth checking how often a particular model has been recalled, what the defects involved, and how quickly the manufacturer responded. If a vehicle is produced on extremely thin margins, or sold at a loss to gain market share, it is a good reason to look at the safety record first. Prior cars by the same maker are also a good proxy.

Scrutiny matters because OP is talking about a kei car. Kei cars leave less space for energy absorption in a collision. The passenger cage and crumple zones are all reduced to cut costs and weight.

It is also battery-powered, meaning substantial weight combined with the immediate torque. Even if its maximum speed is limited, rapid acceleration can still allow any driver to reach dangerous speeds quickly.

No car is perfect, and trusted manufacturers
issue recalls every year. The difference is that established models have years of accident and recall data. Weaknesses in completely new vehicles only become apparent after enough cars have been recalled or crashed.

The “gaijin problem” is largely a red herring.

Most Japanese people do not care much about tourists; they simply get on with their lives.

Judging public sentiment by posts on X or tabloid coverage tells you very little about the broader population.

Prof_PTokyo

Which tourists are applying for PR on a two week stay at the APA hotel?

Read and summarize the whole article and refrain from cherry picking your own point or view.

Undocumented and unverified requests are suspect; they could just be rage-baiting. It may be better not to post than just help feed the rumor mill.

Old news rumor already discussed at length. Go ahead delete this.
