Maxim 43. If it's stupid and it works, it's still stupid and you're lucky.
PyroDesu
In other words: get your entire genome sequenced and inspected for any nasty recessive genes first.
PyroDesu
Also requires someone in power who will A: permit a vote that can potentially go against them, and B: accepts if it does.

I hope Lula has excellent personal security.
PyroDesu
Shame the whole idea of "space data centers" is absurd from a technical standpoint, and never going to actually happen.
Be easier (read: cheaper) to put data centers in bunkers.
PyroDesu
You mean wingsuiting?

Half of my yard was covered with a crust of layered leaves formed over couple of years
Congratulations, you have a healthy forest floor environment.
PyroDesu
It was the best of updates, it was the worst of updates.

As I recall, there's been some success before in Africa by way of armed anti-poaching rangers.

Photons do not have mass. They do have momentum.
But it's not very relevant, because you'd have to use a 300 megawatt laser to produce just one Newton of impulse.
PyroDesu
And there is no such thing as a "warning shot".

(coworkers are disturbed by how heavy my mechanical Keychron is)
If you can't use it as a bludgeoning weapon, it's not a proper keyboard.

Edit: safe for now, it only applies if you use their AI services to manage your stuff "the updated policy specifically affects users who connect their personal information to Google’s AI-powered services, including Search and Gemini."
This is more problematic than you might think, since they tied inbox categories and such to it.
PyroDesu
Oh, they can. As I recall, the paper ballot gets put through an electronic tabulator, which could be programmed to record your vote differently from what the paper ballot says.
It would only come out if there were a manual recount of paper ballots.
Which would only be done if the results are contested.
PyroDesu
This is beyond ridiculous; it’s pure cruelty at this point!
The cruelty is the point.
PyroDesu
Man, that one doing the splits...

If it didn't cut off your finger, it would still have a substantial chance of requiring your finger to be amputated. High pressure injection injuries are no joke.
PyroDesu
Now now, this is radioactive decay we're talking about. It will be 1/4 as bright as when fresh at 24 years, not completely dark.

What kind of account is this money in? If it's in a Uniform Gift or Transfer to Minors Act account, you don't have a choice as to whether it is legally to be transferred to their control once they reach the required age (either 18 or 21, usually), and won't be able to stop it if they file the paperwork to assume control over it.
Of course, you don't have to tell them - personally, out of ignorance (and, honestly, lack of concern about it) I didn't have my UGMA/UTMA account transferred to my control until 9 or 12 (don't recall which) years after it should have been transferred. Net benefit, honestly, my grandparents (the custodians) were still contributing to it even well after I finished university.
PyroDesu
You generally can.
It's not always the most optimal, though.
If you get a sufficiently low-interest (or especially a no-interest) loan, don't pay it off faster than you have to if you can beat the rate.
For instance, I have a car loan at 0.9% APR. I have a HYSA returning 3.2% APY. Why would I pay down the loan faster when I can have that money make money faster than the interest accumulates?
PyroDesu
Imagine if we spent that on, say, space telescopes.
JWST cost 1/8th of that to build with insane cost overruns.
PyroDesu
I'd love to see them combine the physics engines so we have one where both the environment and structures are fully destructible.
(And let's just ignore Armageddon, yes?)
PyroDesu
You do a lot of prima facie judgement for someone who says they're willing to actually read and study the data...
Yes, I know what recessive genes are.
Two things, however, are possible: you can be homozygous for a dominant gene, and a recessive gene can be non-detrimental.
