I think the core thing is that, when you don't know a solution to a problem, you need to consider everything. I've always thought they kept Stephen from uploading because they weren't sure EXACTLY what would be needed for integrity and the process at that time could be incomplete and, since it's irreversible, could lose the valuable thing that potentially brings integrity.

It's kind of like cryogenics. We improved the way we cryogenize over time and if we're ever able to bring those people back to life, who is to say that the ones from the 20th century will have as good a success rate as the ones from the 21st. The preservation is better now than it used to

So even if you make 1000 copies, if your original is missing data, youll never have a complete version. It was a bit of luck that integrity was solved through the use of a second UI and not from something lost during the uploading process

I mean, id rather show a pdf in latex than in a python skin, a pdf is better without scale

QuentinCly

Can this dude even, just halfway, scrub his back when showering?

QuentinCly

These people should start editing in latex

Sometimes, life fails turning a scum-inducing pregnancy into a miscarriage

That's okay, sexuality and romance are a spectrum, heck you don't even have to be on the defined part of the spectrum. You do you and whatever makes you happy. You don't have to tell your family either, unless it becomes unbearable for you. Live life exactly the way you want, there's no right or wrong way to live it (well i mean, laws still apply lol). You don't even have to live today the way you wanted it yesterday

French is way harder imo and Im very glad to have english as a second language and not french ahaha

Ohh i misread glitch building for save editor corvette, sorry about that. That is very weird then, didn't know that was possible without meddling with the save file

QuentinCly

Sorry that happened to you! Is there no way to revert that? Could you copy the important data to a fresh save or go iteratively seeing what breaks it? Most save editors provide backups automatically too

Sorry, i juste feel bad for your 1.7k hours, glad you see it that way though

QuentinCly

Oh yeah if you play on pc, definitely back those saves up, on pc:

Steam: C:/Users/<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS/st_<some random numbers>

Xbox game pass (microsoft store)

C:\Users<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Packages\HelloGames.NoMansSky\SystemAppData\wgs<alphanumeric chain>

QuentinCly

Oof, sorry about that, OP. Honestly, if it's gone from the cloud and locally, your best option is contact hello games through their zendesk, they may have some backups or something

I know xbox also has a cloud sync, so maybe your save is somewhere on there

The two other options I see, but require time and/or money is either data recovery from your xbox hard drive or rebuilding your save from a save editor on a pc and shipping it on the Xbox drive. Those two options are really not the best though, really a last resort

Good luck, traveller

Honestly, make your peace with the fact that you ruined this relationship yourself because you didn't let yourself heal from previous trauma.

You HAVE to tell her and the decision to stay or leave remains in her hands. You broke her trust forever and even if you don't tell her, you will build something on a lie that will get ruined 10x times more when it inevitably gets out. In the small off chance she does give you another chance, prepare yourself to have a lot of work to put in CONSTANTLY (we men tend to do effort only in the beginning and then stop, thinking we've done enough)

Either way, work on that trauma. I have been cheated on too, i know it's hard to trust, but you made the decision to do exactly what broke you down.

Started learning on an old version when ps was pretty new, my step dad sailed high seas to get it and have fun with it. We followed some quick tutorials on some website (i think it had some sort of red eyed, orange feet frog as its mascot (rana arboricola?)). Then just kept having fun with it (made myself a cyborg and stuff lol, it was so bad)

Then, over the years, when i wanted to do something specific and i was stuck, id go on youtube. Id also randomly come across some ps/ai videos that seemed interesting, but i didnt have any use case for it, but id still watch it

QuentinCly

Yeah for sure, i may be a bit too optimistic, but seeing Adobe being open sourced gives me hope that we, nerds, will always prevail

QuentinCly

Personally, if I have goals that I can't achieve during my lifetime, but could the exact same way i would've by someone else, that's a plus

QuentinCly

Personally, I'd think I'd work tirelessly to open source this technology, like AGI, this shouldn't be owned by anything else than the entirety of humanity. The closest thing we have are national protected parks, but they are still owned by an authority

QuentinCly

What if I tell you uploading is actually creating an original from the copy that you are? Does that change anything?

Is it because you don't want it to go dark on your end? What would be your "life" goal if there's a continuity between you and your uploaded self? Would these goals being achieved by an identical copy of you, but not by you mean their achievement would not be equal?

Genuine questions. Personally, that I achieve these goals or that they get achieved exactly and precisely the way I want to achieve them by my copy is not a big difference

QuentinCly

What is your drive distribution? I think im leaning towards having a similar setup in terms of OS

QuentinCly

Pantheon, the animated show on Netflix, originally on AMC. I just love their take on the fate of technology and puts some real stuff into perspective. Also, the tech and science part is quite realistic (or at least as much as it can be in that context)

If you don't know, this kept your account safe lol, just reset the password through email

When I was younger, I lived a terrible home climate because of my then reconstituted family. Had bullies (like most people, unfortunately) and went through a really dark phase. I love science and philosophy and I came across, amongst many other things, the butterfly effect, which, was first used to describe the effects and changes of a chaotic system. It really helped me for one single reason.

Our entire universe, our laws of physics, chemistry, whatever, all ultimately are chaotic systems and what the Butterfly Effect describes is how, in that chaos, a single microscopic change can affect the outcome of some other really powerful event with an indirect causality. Take a butterfly flapping its wings, the small air displacement, added to some other factors, could be necessary for a hurricane to happen. This means that, no matter the subjective significance of an event, it can matter for any other event.

You are that butterfly, we all are. No matter how hard life can seem, how insignificant you, desperately trying to flap your wings to regain stability, can seem, it's significant for the rest of the world, eventhough the causality may not always be clear, it is always there.

Your pain, your happiness, your struggles, they change how you view and act on the world constantly and in turn make the world a better place.

That's something else I like to think, if we evaluate the limit of what type of impact (positive/negative) which all actions tend towards, it is always going to be positive in the end, maybe not right away, but in the end it will. Try to think of any atrocious event in history. Well today, we learned from those events and we try not to reproduce them. It applies to pretty much anything in my opinion, however negative an event is, after enough time, positivity emerges from it. Can be as simple as "we know to stop this now"

Edit: This could be read as all actions can be justified, but not all justifications are good. Don't want this to be taken as "do whatever, it's gonna be positive in the end", no. Consequences still exist. A terrible action bringing positivity in the end, be it years, decades or centuries later, does not mean they should be endorsed.

Been playing since beta and i did notice the change in visual of cypher's cages when someone walks in, but actually never noticed it was the silhouette of his profile ahaha

QuentinCly

I freaking love this game and every update made it so much better. The two things that are still kissing for me would be: - now that we have corvettes, we could really have ships with multi user functions (like one shooting, one maneivering, etc.) - lively automation, as in programmable vehicles or robots to animate the bases, kind of in the spirit of satisfactory

That motherboard cable extension looks dope, what is it?
