2nd edition, with the intention of growing the game and making more profit, Imperium lore begins to be written to form it into the current faction we recognize it as. Space Marines are said to be genetically enhanced by the Emperor's genes. The Emperor as a concept is created to explain FTL flight instead but is essentially a psychic man on a life support system that looks like a gold throne. In addition to the standard fantasy races of Orks and Eldar elf pirates, Tyranids are created to imitate the successful Alien franchise to try and lure in more customers.

3rd edition, in order to grow the game further and make more profit, the factions are expanded. The factions are all fleshed out further. To appeal more to D&D fans, the concept of the Eldar are split into light and dark elf factions. Psykers as a concept are more wide spread throughout humanity. The first lines hinting at a previous Horus Heresy are expanded on as Chaos Space Marines as a proper faction is developed to appeal to a larger audience of Metal band enthusiasts. The Emperor as we understand him today is developed.

4th edition, new entire factions are created with brand new lore that doesn't fit the existing Canon ate created in order to, you guessed it, sell more models and appeal to a wider audience. Necrons are said to have existed before everything, completely changing origins hinted at in the universe and removing a lot of mystery as the origins of the 40k history are expanded on. The most egregious cash grab faction is introduced in the form of the Tau, with all designs appealing to the growing anime Fandom to get those fans as customers. Sisters of Battle are created and met with the same backlash femstodes are currently receiving.

I can keep going but my point is, this is how 40k was developed and how and why every factions lore is either written or retconned: to make more money by appealing to specific demographics. A more obvious and recent example is the introduction of the Leagues of Votann which actually drastically and arguably more negatively alter the known history of humanity simply to appeal to any dwarf loving enthusiasts (and from a cynical lens, due to the success if deep rock galactic).

So to hear these arguments against female custodes when the entire setting has been developed and grown due to much "worse" examples of this type of writing shows an ignorance of both the setting, and a revelation of why certain chuds actually dislike the female custodes retcon. I, for one, welcome th golden clad muscle girls

For every player that gets enticed to spend, there's are literally tens of thousands who will play without ever spending a dime. The game devs are saying "we worked on this extra skin and MVP animation, if you want only this thing, please pay what we're asking (the same as basically every business under capitalism btw). Otherwise, enjoy the gameplay for free!"

The people who are adding "emotional value" to these skins, and inadvertently preying on easily influenced and/or younger players which you disagree with, are the streamers who profit off of parasocial dynamics. If this form of social media didn't exist, MTX would look a lot different in these f2p games.

Also good to remember, if MTX were completely removed from the industry in all its forms, then everyone would have to pay to play any game. So if you're enjoying Marvel Rivals for free, don't get upset at how other people choose to spend their income, and just mind your own bysiness enjoying your free leisure experience.

40k has been changing and evolving for +30 years now. If the setting acted the way you seem to think it does, we'd never have moved past the space hulk/rogue trader 1st edition lore where all aeldari were the same dark eldar space pirates, female space marines existed but sister of battle didn't, tau, voltann, and necrons wouldn't exist at all, and the entire game would be more like a confined board game than a tabletop war game. Horus would just be some traitor mortal instead of aligned with chaos, tyranids would only consist of genestealers, and the imperial guard wouldn't exist as space marines were originally meant to be the only military forces in the imperium. Primarchs also wouldn't exist.

Tl;dr, 40k only exists in the form it does today which you enjoy because it became more popular and attracted "tourists" that decoded to stay and shape the setting to be more diverse. Take your 13 year old gatekeeping self to another fandom, the 40k community doesn't need your toxicity.

A better director with better insight into Spider-Man's character and history of his side characters would have known not to waste resources making missions for MJ to, in his own words "make her a more capable hero." Sir, she isn't a hero, she's a civilian love interest. Not saying they need to show her as a damsel in distress, but if it was so important that they make MJ playable, I'd argue its equally important to make Black Cat payable, and i can imagine missions as BC would be a lot more entertaining as well.
