XKCD has done a great comic on it, but the gist is this:
Cancer isn’t a disease. Diseases come from germs or viruses; cancer is your own body fighting against you. Like an organ transplant without the surgery, and a much worse survival rate.
Cancer is treated by removing the cancer. Removing the metaphorical bad organ. The truth is if you’ve had the time to realize something was wrong then it’s probably already too late.
This is why any ‘success’ is celebrated, even though there’s still a horribly large chance to die.

Eh, Sort of? I’ve decided not to write a story idea before, but not because I was afraid of the audience’s reaction. I don’t like negative responses, sure, but more terrifying to me are no responses. The reason I eventually decided not to my idea was because I couldn’t remember if it was original. I must admit, however, that I’ll post work on a different site if I don’t think it will do well on SV.

I had to reread the question after the comments made me realize I misread it. My library has a small room with old/damaged/usually unread books you can buy for anywhere from 30 cents to ten dollars, and usually whenever I go to the library I buy up a book or two. I like to own things, and actually owning the books make me less worried about accidentally losing or breaking it as well as supporting the library. It’s also such a small, varied room that I can look at every book in it to make a choice, rather than having to search an entire library for something good to read.

I would argue that while Dead man is Amadeus, his sigh is Alaya.

Yo, I don't know if you're still looking, but I tried.

Books one and two are done, but I only barely got started on book three, and there's a couple of references I was leaving until later to fact-check, but still.
Edit: You know what? I've been looking for a timewaster-- maybe I'll start working on this again.

Here's well-wishing from a Lurker! May your recovery be swift; May your sickness be a bog-standard bad day, and not anything more dire.

Eh, Kinda. I did something similar for a couple years. I’m technically happier now? Not much has changed, although I have a smile almost 24/7. The big downside is when I’m getting chewed out for things and people think I’m not taking them seriously. Or when my friends are sad and I can’t convince them I empathize. Really, anytime I need to use any other emotion ever is just the worst for me.

You do have to admit half those people would take a mile (specifically, one directly to their grave) if you gave them an inch.
RandomCommentsInc
How dare you. Where’s my cliche “love triumphs all” happy ending? #disappointed
RandomCommentsInc
Honestly, reading this comment chain has made me both happy and disappointed. Happy, because it was a great reminder of human kindness. Disappointed, because I’ve never seen such an amazing chance to make a low hanging fruit joke before, and neither of you made it.

Thus, this humble author was now free to start the Lovecraftian mystery series set in the Victorian Era. The End.
Oh, hey! I completely forgot about that. Is it still going strong? I might need to go searching for the link again.

...but u/Aduro95 has said that.

I have bad news for you about the comment just below yours.
Edit: the position of the author’s post has apparently changed, but the point is you were thirty or so minutes early.
RandomCommentsInc
You.
You, I will respect. I’m a Mipha fan myself, just because I suck and die all the time and she stops that from happening, but you I will respect the opinion of.

With how hard y'all push for this, sometimes I wish I bit the bullet that one time back in book 5 and did it myself. But nooooo, I didn't want to put in the effort, I just wanted to read the comments.

I think he's acknowledging it's a longshot... but from his perspective, not only is that just what Heros do, but Cordelia's slow and steady march into the mud isn't actually going to help. He's isn't the kind of person to risk 90 whatever percent of the population when there's a chance to save all of it.
Interestingly enough, however, I believe Catherine would do the same; That is to say, she would attempt to double down on an action to save everyone if the alternative is as costly a measure as the Angel Bomb.
RandomCommentsInc
It was the other way around.
Edit: okay, I misread that- are you suggesting she got offered three names? Because that’s not what happened. The bard tried to give Cordelia a name, but her cousin gave Cordelia the chance to turn it down. Thus, Cordelia turned down the good name of Warden of the West, and then below offered the title of First Prince... which she also turned down.

I don't even care what name she gets, I'm not the kind of person to set expectations for what the book should do, but when Cat's name turns out to not be Arbiter I am going to enjoy all y'all cry pathetic tears.
Edit: and if it does turn out to be Arbiter... Well, I probably won't care, but you'll have guessed right so you can enjoy that.

Like, I understand that it’s probably pretty sturdy... but I have a fear of falling, and this image is the visual equivalent of a punch in the face.

I believe it was near some, but don’t quote me on that.

Apologies if I’m misremembering, but isn’t part of the docks considered Merchant territory, even at the start of canon? If so, that is a incredibly pertinent reason for Taylor to know about them, because proximity alone will likely increase their threat level just because of the simple reasoning that other gangs are unlikely to foray that close to Merchant territory. They can’t be a threat to Taylor if they aren’t there, obviously.

Hi, person who’s failed an IQ test here, and I’m pretty sure my IQ is larger than theirs.
I think they meant that would be your character establishing moment, like “look at this poor girl trying to find love and all she’s getting is weirdos”.
