I wish I could explain it, just kinda happened. Maybe from siply doing it a lot.

older is always better

Nobody claimed this. In terms of today's junk cars, that are often defective right out of the factory, and designed to fail and be unrepairable by the owner...yes, many 1990's and early 2000's cars were designed and built better.

We don't even need to get into the rolling spyware/malware platform/privacy nightmare that almost everything built since at least 2020 (some would set the cutoff earlier) is.

Today's new cars are mostly garbage, built as cheaply as possible to extract as much money from the consumer as possible, for higher prices than ever. They are not "more reliable." That is a ridiculous claim.

And banks wouldn't give out 6-year loans at low interest rates if the cars weren't expected to last past that lifespan.

Simply not how lending works.

RedditWhileIWerk

Bummer, but glad you found the problem.

RedditWhileIWerk

Do you guys wear ear plugs?

when playing with others, yes, always.

Practicing at home, I monitor the volume level, keeping it below 70 dB(A). 80 dB(A) is technically "safe" indefinitely, but too loud for my preference.

RedditWhileIWerk

bummer :(

Here's hoping for a jailbreak.

RedditWhileIWerk

May be, but it's used wrong much more often than not. Just like it says in the linked article.

RedditWhileIWerk

Let me guess: you have to "purchase" the equipment, but then put up with this nonsense? Niche industry with few or no alternatives?

RedditWhileIWerk

cars are getting more reliable and banks wouldn't offer loans that long if the asset itself wasn't durable enough to last until payoff.

Is the other way round actually, you're joking right?

banks wouldn't offer loans that long if the asset itself wasn't durable enough to last until payoff.

Citation needed.

Dealer financing departments don't care if you have reliable transportation. They care if you make payments.

Same for any other lender.

Supposably

The artificial shortages will continue until shareholder value improves!

Just kidding, they will continue past then too, way things are going.

RedditWhileIWerk

I can't believe 60-month and longer loans for a freaking car are legal either, but here we are.

drive a brand new car

I was all ready to be envious, then I realized we're probably talking about someone who's on their 2nd or more rollover of negative equity

I've been reliably informed (by some random nitwit in r/pcmasterrace) that Big Lemonaid Stand is buying up all the lemons, and that's why you are now being asked to pay 4x last year's price.

They are DEFINITELY making and selling millions of servings of lemonade too, not letting the lemons rot in warehouses merely so stands like yours can't have them!

All those symptoms sound much like a bad regulator than a stator or rotor tbh.

did you mean that the other way round? Rest of your post checks out, 100% what I've seen owning a 2007 DL1000, and years of reading about charging sys problems suffered by other first-gen DL1000 owners.

DL650, those problems aren't as common, but there have still been cases.

sometimes it IS the regulator/rectifier, sure

plot twist: OP verifies a fried stator. Mystery solved!

RedditWhileIWerk

OP, don't leave us hanging! Did you have a chance to inspect the stator or rotor magnets?

RedditWhileIWerk

I was a mercenary like you once, until I took an ARROW IV to the knee.

RedditWhileIWerk

Perfect example of "less is more" and "simple is hard."

RedditWhileIWerk

to expand, I think you do a great job of not overplaying.

I am also in awe of anyone who can get accurate intonation, consistently, on an unmarked fretless. Mine has lines (Ibanez SR375EF).

snoring

has he been evaluated for sleep apnea?

Even if he only has "mild" apnea, CPAP/BIPAP treatment has a good chance of stopping the snoring cold. As well as improving his sleep in general.

Could it be time for a new mattress? There's no magic, but there may be a type or design that supports you more comfortably.

I will also sometimes put a pillow at my back when on my side. It's not necessary, but it's kind nice.

Here's hoping you find something that works!

OEM with seals and dust seals, never aftermarket.

agreed. Tried All Balls fork seal kit on my Vstrom once, never again. They were leaking again not 3 years and less than 9k miles later, and I hardly ever go on dirt with that bike. I put on OEM everything the second time around.
