Notepad++ has a "Run" menu. Is Notepad++ also an IDE now?
Redire
Eh, if compilation times are an issue and you absolutely need to roll your own move and forward, you can at least define them as functions. Not sure about Linux, but Visual Studio lets you create *.natjmc files to skip over library code during debugging, so you don't have to step into it.
People dislike macros for a reason. It's all fun and games until you try to include code from another guy who had a similar idea and defined his own 3-letter macros with the same name and a different meaning.

The whole "multiversal spider-men team up" thing has been done in the comics, in a video game and in the old animated series. So yeah, Spiderverse is retreading stuff.
Redire
I know, right?! All those mean people are just a bunch of basement dwelling neckbeards! Proponents of polite and meaningul discussion (like ourselves) gain another victory today.

Don't forget videogames

Some compilers let you bind string literals to non-const char pointers like this:
char* test = "test";
This is only legal in C, but for compatibility reasons major compilers let you get away with it in C++. Modifying through the variable is undefined behavior.
Redire
You can actually unravel these kinds of pyramids using bool returning functions and lazy evaluation:
bool getNameObjectOrLog( const O& obj, const P& prop, const String& errorMsg, O& result )
{
const auto hr = obj.GetNamedObject( prop, &result );
if( SUCCEDED( hr ) ) {
return true;
} else {
LogError( errorMsg, hr );
return false;
}
}
// ....
if( getNameObjectOrLog( obj1, prop1, err1, obj2 ) &&
getNameObjectOrLog( obj2, prop2, err2, obj3 ) &&... )
{
// success
}

When double cookies appeared for me yesterday, one of the cookies didn't have a timer on it. Also, some sort of special notification for double cookies would be really nice.
Otherwise works great for me, thank you so much!

I think that public interest is like God =).
That is, it's a term with a vague meaning. Nobody knows if it's real, because nobody knows what it is. And this term is often used as a facade to promote concrete interests of concrete people.
Redire
I guess, it's a matter of worldview. You believe that public interest is something editors adhere to. I believe that public interest is something they manufacture. From my perspective you suggest to untie their hands and give them more power to abuse.
Redire
Who's going to define what "public interest" means?
Redire
Well, let's hope that most successful software companies in this world consist of moral people who follow the law even if it's completely unenforcable.
Redire
Using free software in products that are sold without even giving back your own changes when you are not paying for it is exactly the kind of parasitic behavior that I don't want to support.
Have you ever considered that people can just copy-paste your code with no attribution whatsoever and then make extra sure their code will never be open source?
Putting GPL on the code that is not identifyable is counter-productive to the stated goal of free software.
Redire
See, if you store a function pointer and call it, the code cannot be inlined. So instead they create a templated wrapper that has all the function information at compile time. Then they store a pointer to the wrapper and call it instead.
What the fuck?

I don't follow this. What are the justifiable reasons to be miffed?
Having a harder time associating yourself with your avatar, who's become even more different from you.
A sweeping statement: oh the irony.
Sweeping statements are only bad when they are wrong for a significant potion of the "sweeped" =). Do you believe this to be true about my statement?
I wasn't passing any judgment on the gaming community as a whole
You weren't. chaobreaker was. I reckon this is why he's downvoted.
The rest is absolutely true. Gender wars are hot right now, every minor controversy is blown out of proportion.
Redire
Both of these things are wrong, of course. I assume, the race disparity is easier to tolerate, bacause the difference between races is smaller than between genders.
I mean, I'm sure some of the people who complain are sexist. It's just that there are perfectly justifiable reasons to be miffed as well. Anyone who makes sweeping statements about the complainers or the gaming community or the world we live in, is showing their own prejudices.
Redire
Is there something wrong with wanting your avatar to be the same race and gender as you are?

Authority is a subjective term. Logic is objective.
Argument by authority may be convincing, ethical and efficient - doesn't mean it's based on logic.
Redire
Every logical fallacy sounds reasonable. Logic is supposed to be bulletproof.
Surely, if Linus argument is so convincing it can hold on its own without namedropping its creator.
Redire
Yeah, right. As if Kumar would ever write a thank you letter.

His Octograb is hard countered by Cleanse, we won't see him in competitive unless someone makes March of the Murlocks work =(.
Well, even if you consider Notepad++ to be an IDE, I'm sure that you'd find it a bit silly to directly compare it to Intellij. You can't really "switch" from one to another in the general case, they both are appropriate tools for certain tasks.
This just shows that even if two things can technically be called an IDE, it still might not be valid to compare them.
