I think the MacBook you bought is a good buy.

Only other thing for that price is ROG Flow Z13 128gb - I got one here in the UK for £2500 on sale a couple weeks ago.

Any macbooks I looked at at the time are multiples more expensive sadly.

Having the same ideas..what I learned so far Razer core x 2 (thunderbolt 5 dock but backwards compatible) about £300. Research says if mainly playing at 4k the egpu penalty will be minimised. Not tested it yet.
