I changed my sub from needing to be approved to post, to anyone can post using the app yesterday.

I’d love an update around May. Around the time most of the snow is gone and I might get to doing mine!

RelativeFox1

It’s not illegal in Alberta and OP said he’s in Alberta.

Alberta clearly lists coyotes under other species, and only says non expanding bullets may not be used for big game.

RelativeFox1

Agreed. They don’t have ballistic tables

RelativeFox1

Good to know, thanks

RelativeFox1

Nice, what caliber?

I’ve joked about making a coyote fur pillow case. My wife does not support this idea.

RelativeFox1

How is that for availability? Is it hard to find?

RelativeFox1

Pressure is the same switching projectiles at higher velocities?

I have never chased accuracy past “reliable hunting accuracy” so I’ve found barns sufficient for me. But I totally understand they aren’t small enough groups for some people.

RelativeFox1

With Ballistic tips $50/50 and accubond $91/50 I have always shyed away from them. My thoughts were just about every Hornady bullet is cheaper, including solid copper. Even barns ttsx are cheaper at $67/50. so nosler feels like over priced, maybe paying fo the name.

But, I admit I have never shot both out of the same rife to actually test the accuracy of both. I really should before I bash them too much.

RelativeFox1

I like to call them road poachers, not road hunters. In Alberta you can’t discharge a rifle from the road. That makes shooting deer from the road illegal. So, it’s poaching, not hunting.

I find once you get a kilometer or even less off the road, there is a ton more game.

RelativeFox1

What made you pick ballistic tips?

RelativeFox1

And a 5shot group! Nice!

RelativeFox1

I love the unique ones. I personally can’t ever buy a 6.5 because everyone has one!

RelativeFox1

I grew up pushing bush for Manitoba whitetail 25 years ago!

Don’t see many 300 H&H around

RelativeFox1

Damn, you’ve been busy!

How’s that 130gn in 30-06 group?

RelativeFox1

You don’t reload…. Yet….. lol

I was doing some math for a friend today that shoots 6.5cm. He was asking if it’s worth loading.

Without brass
139gn sst $1.77 each $35.40 for 20
120gn ttsx $2.47 each $49.40 for 20

With brass
139gn SST $2.12 each $42.40 for 20
120gn TTSX $2.82 each $56.40 for 20

RelativeFox1

They didn’t “just fall out” if you were doing a wheel change. If they fell out while the disk was in place, that would be “just falling out”

RelativeFox1

I like the ttsx for hunting, but need to make an off season target load this winter.

RelativeFox1

Yeah, 130 270 cup and core for that distance elk might have been a touch lite.

A 130gn TTSX on the other hand 😜🤐

RelativeFox1

That’s kinda what I’m hearing. They are maybe a touch better accuracy wise than interbond soft points, but cost a touch more. Years ago people used to say they blew up. I’m not sure if that was fixed, or it never really was a problem, just internet talk.

Thanks. I’m thinking I’ll make a target load for my 7-08 this winter with them.

RelativeFox1

Yes a Google search will say that, and I figured that when I found it. I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a plug like this while working on replacing something.

RelativeFox1

Any experience with the sst vs a regular cup and core? Both in terms of accuracy and working on game?
