Taos, Danskos, Born and Merrels are all I wear at work. And get some good mats
Remarkable-Wave507
For what it’s worth, our local farm products are more expensive than wholesale. So if it’s price you’re after, depending on yours, it may not help with cost but it can certainly help with quality.
Remarkable-Wave507
How do you know it was shipped if you didn’t get any tracking information?
Remarkable-Wave507
My communication with my client is from day one. And the trust they have with me given any substitutions necessary is chosen then and there. I don’t need to bother her two days before her wedding day to ensure that a lavender that’s more pink than purple is what we will choose.
No, you have the wear with all to create something just as beautiful with using other items to pull a color if necessary. I own my shop and have been in this industry for multiple decades. No one has had an issue thus far. And most say, “I didn’t even notice” OR what we choose actually ends up being ten times better to compensate for it.
Remarkable-Wave507
Work in a shop that carries a nice variety. You’ll learn the flowers and if you actually like all the work this industry requires.
Remarkable-Wave507
We order a month prior and 99/100, our wholesalers or farmers can accommodate the request. Are you waiting until week of to order the product?
I wouldn’t contact a bride week of her wedding, when emotions are already extremely high, to discuss this. Three weeks out at minimum, if at all. But I’ve also already explained substitutions and not every stem is promised during our consultations, it’s on their quote, and in our contract. If they trust you, whatever you choose should be sufficient.

Not sure how it is where you are but the bud vase tend is on its way out where we are. I’d make sure you know how to do more than just those.

This! If a mild confrontation leads to the throat, the statistics will scream at you this will only get worse. After surviving multiple abusive relationships, the cycles don’t lie. First a shove, then the throat, then the black eye, then the fractured scull, then who knows what else. Ask me how I know. I watched my mother do it and then myself.
It takes a beautifully strong person to recognize you deserve better and you do. I hope you can find peace with that decision and do what’s best for you, your future and any potential generation that may follow you.
You. Are. Worth. More!

Seriously, how often can we see BN plugs on every post?
Remarkable-Wave507
Sadly it gives me a little bit 1990s old lady perfume counter. I want to love it. And small parts of me does but it doesn’t linger and make me wander like the other Autumn releases have.
Remarkable-Wave507
We don’t and it works just fine for us that we don’t. People know our work very well and are willing to wait. Those that aren’t want grocery store prices anyway and can go ten minutes up the road and get them there.
Remarkable-Wave507
There are some basic principals and foundations that you could learn that I’m not seeing implemented here. Maybe working in a flower shop could help you to learn those.
Remarkable-Wave507
And why in the world do the shades need to match? It’s flowers!
Remarkable-Wave507
Ours is the same way. They’ll spend upwards of $150-200 so that their daughters is the best. The daughters don’t give two flips. And they hold them for all of ten minutes to take fancy photos. It’s awful. The ONLY complaints we ever get, which are still minimal, are from moms at either hoco or prom. Because the blue wasn’t blue enough or the pink was too pink but not the right pink.
We’re very close to not taking them at all anymore because it’s gotten so out of hand.
Remarkable-Wave507
Is it intended to be held the way you have it in photo 6?
If so, the placement of that lily ends up being the only thing I look at. It’s like a hole in the middle of the that’s not really a hole but my eye won’t go anywhere else.

I currently buy from nine local farms. All of them brought product into my shop that I loved and now we have a wonderful working relationship with them. I need to see it, to know your bodice can stand up for event work and last.
We’re very flexible when it comes to what we need as I know seasonal availability can change depending upon weather, crops damage, poor performance etc. but in order to try to work it into our events, i at least have to know what I stand to potentially buy from that farm.
I have farms that grow a handful of things in small quantities and that isn’t usually helpful for me so I don’t buy from them much.
Remarkable-Wave507
Do you have time for them to redo them? This is a really poor execution of what your inspiration is requesting.
Remarkable-Wave507
Within 72 hours.
Remarkable-Wave507
No one was losing their minds about that. Sorry you didn’t get what you were after.
Remarkable-Wave507
It’s all relative to what you’re asking though. Because your reply to what was going to set you apart was price. That’s a red flag right there.
Let’s start simple because I feel like you can answer this without revealing anything.
What do they charge for a dozen roses in a vase? A mixed arrangement/designers choice?
What would you be charging for those same items?
If they’re affiliated with Teleflora, are their prices not aligned with Teleflora prices?
Remarkable-Wave507
It sounds like people are upset because using the industry standard is responsible for all of us. And by your own comments, you think that markup is gouging. The industry standard markup is what allows this industry to get remotely close to an understanding in the community that flowers cost money because there are a slew of behind the scenes expense as that aren’t considered, not to mention education and talent.
Someone, like yourself, coming in and undercharging keeps that narrative alive and well that someone can do it cheaper so the rest of us are just ripping people off. Which isn’t true.
I don’t think people are mean, I think they’re offended that someone thinks that a legitimate business is being accused of ripping people off by someone who wants to do it as a side gig out of their house. Two very different things.
Good luck with what you decide to do! I hope it works well for you.
Remarkable-Wave507
That’s not an industry standard markup and isn’t sustainable. You aren’t accounting for, at bare minimum, sourcing and labor time.
Industry standard is 3.5 x and it’s not uncommon to charge up to 6x depending on your location.
Remarkable-Wave507
OP What is industry standard markup for you?
Remarkable-Wave507
In fairness, it does show that a moderator deleted one of your comments. Not sure why.
We haven’t noticed it for us but several of those around us are feeling it. Is your market more saturated now? We’ve had an influx of local farms, farmers markets and pop up type vendors that can sometimes take business away from shops.
