While I agree with your overall point #1 is incorrect. The 4% rule includes inflation. An average portfolio of stocks and bonds historically returns about 8%, and with average inflation at 4% you subtract that to get the safe draw down rate of 4%.

Also #2 can be solved via dynamic draw down rates but I agree 3 mil isn't the magic number folks think, especially once you factor in healthcare costs.

It's got mile wide plot holes I wouldn't worry. Kinda reads like op is a lonely guy writing fiction where he is the noble keeper of justice and his whole family centers around him.
