I think you’re misconstruing things. Or at least reading bad advice.

You shouldn’t plan an outcome to any specific encounter or at least be open for things to change because it’s probable that your players will choose something else.

At the same time the DM needs to understand the tactics the players want to employ so they can challenge them on it.

Otherwise you’re going to have a game where the players can do whatever they want at all times and never have any issue with combat or any npcs.

What’s funny with Andrew is that he doubles down on this and also mentions he never thought of what the word “French” meant in French fry.

As for sweet potato, it’s a valid pick where we also have couch and tech.

Ripper1337

Yeah it seems overly performative with how in shock they are.

Ripper1337

We do see that. Lighteyes refusing to get on board with the reforms that are going on.

Ripper1337

As I said in my previous comment I think the best way to handle the scene is to modify how many corpses are on the ground.

Have multiple noble corpses. The one with the pierced heart and no resistance died for the spike, same with the skaa. While other nobles died fighting. You can have NeBaal hide with the spike and body in the chaos and Delina realizing that Enge disappeared somehow takes the Framework and leaves via the elevator

Ripper1337

Well this is awesome.

Ripper1337

Honestly I didn’t like the Mistborn world guide as much as I did the Roshar one. I think because more of the world has been explained in Mistborn than it has in Stormlight.

Ripper1337

Technically the dead noble was also an allomancer who died for the spike. The piercing through her heart is very specific ns usual of hemalurgy

Other than that I agree with everything you’ve said.

Ripper1337

Mate don’t give spellcasters more power because you don’t understand the rules

Ripper1337

Cyn could be referring to the general horror of a bunch of people being murdered rather than the fight specifically.

I feel like the events make more sense if either there are dead bodies of nobles showing struggle

The way it’s written makes it sound like those that opposed Delina fled but the timing of it doesn’t work out that well with the elevator.

Ripper1337

I mean, yes it should be opt out.

I’d never put the player in this position in the first place because it just doesn’t seem fun

Ripper1337

I bought a steamdeck and absolutely don’t regret it. You’re not going to be running cutting edge games but it can still handle a hell of a lot of

Ripper1337

I’ve had Dragonsteel prime sitting on my phone for months now and have gotten a bit ways through it. It’s not bad per se, but just… not great. It’s neat to see some of his earlier ideas but its just hard to get through

Ripper1337

That’s a very cool mix of abilities and off the top of my head, only the Willshaper and stoneward share a surge. Was this deliberate on anyone’s part or did they just naturally fall into different radiant orders?

Ripper1337

I always lean on the side of “what makes the player feel the most badass” which would be option two, negating projectiles for as long as the infusion lasts

Ripper1337

It would stack by itself. So +0 to the first hit. +1 to the second, +2 to the third and so on.

Ripper1337

I do rather enjoy the sprinkling of lore connecting the adventure to the books. It helps ground it.

Ripper1337

Yikes. I had this on my radar for a little while. Steam deck is the only way I play. Maybe I’ll revisit when it actually releases its 1.0

Ripper1337

It’s a trap if all their tech usually breaks down then they think they got a lucky break with this one and can reverse engineer it.

Ripper1337

Did you have any players decide to not become radiant? If so how did they compare with the radiant players?

How did you find the handling of player goals? Did what their goal was usually fall within what you were planning or did you need to figure out some way to include or change it?

Ripper1337

Yes but there’s two kinds for me. Encounters that I plan beforehand I’ll typical figure out any magical or interesting items they have and factor that into the encounter. If my random lot table says the reward is three potions of healing then I’m going to give my enemies each a potion and the players can find three unbroken ones afterwards.

But for more random encounters the only loot they have is the ones the players decide upon. Sometimes they’ve taken the bandits weapons to sell later, sometimes they take parts from a monster and try and figure out how to use it later.

Ripper1337

I recommend looking into “session 0” where you sit down with your players and discuss aspects of the game such as what you described, it’s a good place to go over the themes, the setting, character creation, etc. so everyone is on the same page.

Ripper1337

Everyone needs a low point in their journey this was hers. A ton of people in the books say how smart Jasnah is but she’s really… not everything she claims she is.

She derides Shallan’s type of insults yet uses the exact same against Amaram. She’s incredibly dismissive of traditional female pursuits and finds no value in them. She jumps into the battlefield to play at being soldier even though she could make better use of her talents elsewhere, not even for a clever plan but because she wanted people to see her as a soldier or someone who could take to the field and she was horrible at it.

Ripper1337

Other RPGs but really anything can be inspiring. From Odyssey of the Dragonlords I learned about Epic Backgrounds which were predetermined ways to tie the players into the setting and give them magical items and boons

From the cosmere rpg I learned about the Plot die which is a d6 that gives either a blank, an opportunity, or a complication. The complications give a +2 or +4 and have a negative effect like helping your enemies or having the alarm go off while in a heist. While opportunities are positive outcomes.

Ripper1337

The others had whimsy?
