They are changing it in VA that we have to ID everyone. Wawa already does it so I’m not thinking we’ll have too too many problems but we know how that goes

You can only rollover your 401k into another account, you cannot take that money out. As far as your ESOP, it’s paid out twice a year. I’m pretty sure you’ve missed the cutoff for the September or October (can’t remember which) payout, so you wouldn’t get it until I believe the spring. I could be wrong about that part, but the information is on Bob.

I suggest a burrito bowl with double shredded chicken and rice and beans. It’s the same as the cup but more chicken

I wish I had time to explain SFTK to every customer. People don’t realize it’s literally for LOCAL kids. It doesn’t go into a giant fund and not actually get used. Each store in a district shops for 16 kids. We have 11 stores in mine so that’s approximately 175 kids. We spend about $130 on each kid. $22k. And that’s JUST on presents. That’s not including the wrapping paper, tape, bags of food and “family bags” that include stuff like cookies and cookie cutters, board games etc. We GENUINELY spend $35k-$40k to provide kids Christmas. In EACH district. Right now we have 85 districts within Sheetz. We spend $2.5 million dollars to give kids Christmas throughout the company.

We put a TON of work into it because this literally might be the only things these kids get for Christmas. They have to qualify for it, so it’s not like we’re just giving it out all Willy nilly. They’re actually NEEDY children.

I’ll get off my soapbox now but this is a cause that is very near and dear to my heart hah

Nope meatballs are hot held for 8 hours

Roses88

The real answer: meatballs are hot held for 8 hours with one ounce of marinara per meatball.

It’s the maintenance department. The department is headed by someone new cause the old guy retired. The maintenance techs are stretched thin. They’re encouraged to “reset and run” to get call numbers down. But no matter how many times we as managers tell the area manager that’s WHY call numbers are high, they don’t get it or don’t care. So let’s use the sink for example: they prob came out and it was working so they closed the call. They called it in again and they replaced batteries so it worked again. Round and round

Depending on where you’re located depends on the “area manager” and I have plenty of thoughts on mine that I won’t share haha.

There is absolutely a company policy, but you’re not entitled to have it printed out and shown to you. Each state also has different laws. In MD you have to ID every single customer every single time, regardless of age. Wawa in VA does that too. VA Sheetz has to ID anyone who appears to be under the age of 30 and scan their IDs. It has to be a valid (not expired), good condition id.

Not to sound smart, but how long did you wait for your food? Cause your break starts when you clock out, not once you get your food and sit down. Ideally you wouldn’t wait for 10 mins for your food, but Sheetz happens 🤣

Roses88

It’s probably a field recruiter or HRC. Which means it’s definitely a real person. You can text them back and they’ll reply

Roses88

They are going to be basically the same thing yes

Roses88

Way back in the day we all wore the same polos. Either black or light blue. I’m still not sure why we ever changed it

Roses88

Most of the time people get away with it because people refuse to write statements. Nothing pisses me off more than 5 people complaining about someone but refusing to document it so we can’t do anything about it. I can take it to HR 10 times but without witnesses they won’t/can’t do anything.

Michigan and Maryland pay sick leave. You will be allowed to take sheetz leave, but if you haven’t been there long enough you will not qualify for FMLA. You also likely won’t be out long enough to qualify for short term disability.

Long story short: unless you have PTO you can take the time off but you won’t get paid

Roses88

No one will be there today. It’s Sunday. You can call the store solutions number tomorrow

My favorite subject!

Some flex are great, and some aren’t. One of the big issues is that they are pretty much under no supervision unless they’re a first shift flex. So unless store managers are willing to go to the HRC and share what problems they’re having with a flex (in a timely manner, not everyone all at once at our DM meetings) then it falls on the store. HRCs can’t do/hire better/hold people accountable if they’re not given feedback

As far as training goes: it’s OUR job at the stores to make sure the flex are trained. If we don’t give them the tools to succeed, they won’t. Not every store does everything the same, but BASIC things like mustard and ketchup going on the bottom of the bun or how to heat meatballs, should be the same everywhere.

Flex not acting like managers: how many times do yall just throw the flex up front cause it’s “easier”? Does anyone actually say “We actually need you in the kitchen today”. Does anyone LET them be a manager? Or do you just immediately write them off?

At the end of the day, if the flexes “suck” it’s usually our fault as stores because we don’t allow them to succeed 🎤

Roses88

Not sure how long you’ve worked for Sheetz, but it is a requirement for anyone in the Sheetz family to work at store level if they want to be in a corporate position. Travis has been with Sheetz since he was in high school. Probably since before you were born 🤣. I’m not taking up for him because I don’t know him, I just know his qualifications and degrees mean more than his last name. I also know is the title of CEO wasn’t just handed down the line. If it was, it would have went to Adam, because he is Bob’s grandson.

I’ve been with Sheetz for 15 years. I have first hand seen the changes for better and worse.

Roses88

Wouldn’t have posted it if he wasn’t “famous” hah

I just wanted to let you know that my sister and my nephew are doing very well! Everything is heading in the right direction. Thank you so much for your support! I did post an updated comment with more information

Roses88

!!!Update!!! He didn’t have a heart attack. He had a pulmonary embolism caused by a blood clot that loosened when he was chasing the dog after he got out that morning.

My sister and nephew are doing well! She’s finally been able to get social security taken care of and getting monthly payments. Social services has set her up with Medicaid for my nephew. Thanks to everyone for their well wishes and support!

Roses88

Today we said goodbye. He was 15 years old. Goodnight sweet Weetch

I guarantee the problem is that the store manager is tired of walking in the door and the supervisor disappearing to do trash for the next hour and a half when they’re actually needed to be in a position. Very often supervisors (not mine) think that once 6am hits and first shift comes in they are no longer part of the shift. But believe it or not store managers have orders to do every morning, and counts that have to be done. Usually we try to get the counts done first thing. We have management overlap because we HAVE to get things done first thing, not jump into a position at 6am

Roses88

I’m a store manager, worked for sheetz for 15 years and I myself made this dumb mistake at like 7am on Wednesday 🤣🤣 the wording was confusing but we got it figured out now!

Roses88

I think the biggest issue is that flexes don’t get trained properly or they’re not given the tools to succeed. We’ve argued this over and over and over in our DM meetings. Everyone wants to blame the HRC for crappy flexes, but they’re using them to replace the managers they lose and can’t find a replacement for. The HRCs are pulling from the same applicant pool we are. If we can’t find a decent supervisor candidate, neither can they. Full stop. If you don’t want to have a flex in your store, then cover it yourself. Every flex has a home store. In our district at least, the home store is responsible for training the flex hands on. If WE don’t train them, WE don’t get to gripe about how “bad” they are.

I’ve had two flexes based out of my store. One is about to be promoted to an HM and one is everyone’s favorite. Know why? Because my team trained them the same way they’d train a supervisor who was going to be working with us as part of our team. I held them to the same standards as my own supervisors (within reason of course, HRC has final say but we have a great working relationship).

So long story short: if the flexes suck, it’s our fault as a team.
