My advice would be to play along with something and try to nail it exactly, timing and notes. I will usually just play along to the solo or song I'm trying to learn, but you can also practice along with a metronome, but that's a bit more boring.

Playing along with the song forces you to keep going after making a mistake, the music won't stop and wait for you, so you have to just keep playing. This will build the habit of just keeping in the groove you're at.

To my ears the biggest difference is that you lack a bit of the groove. It sounds a bit too much like you are stuttering during the sentences and don't speak fluently.

This is a combination of 2 issues, one is technical. You don't always fluently switch notes, there's audible gaps in places where there shouldn't be that interrupt the flow.

The other is rhythmical, you keep "resetting" your rhythm when you make a mistake or aren't happy with how you played something. Just keep the groove going and ignore mistakes, just keep on playing in the same groove.

Those 2 issues make your playing feel a bit choppy and hard to follow. There's a lot of notes in places where the listener is not expecting them. Your biggest improvement will be in learning to chain the different licks smoother after eachother.

Other than those 2, your playing is already pretty awesome. Your sound is pretty good, although pretty sure Jimi used more overdrive/fuzz than you.

Wait that's actually an insanely good idea. No longer looking at your abilities or above your head in order to know what card you're currently hovering.

You can't run multiple mics into the same input, so if your unit only has one input, you need a unit for each mic.

SLStonedPanda

Using a metronome does not mean you can't have tempo changes. It just requires a bit more work.

Some songs need to breathe a little bit and others need to be as tight as possible. Both are completely valid expressions of emotion and energy in their own right.

Hier kun je pas echt een goede conclusie uit trekken als je ook data van andere jaren meeneemt, anders kan je niet spreken van trends

That sounds interesting! I've always been bothered that I need to turn on and off VSX systemwide when switching between headphones and my speakers.

Sounds like this could also be a solution to having different outputs output different things, so only my headphone output has the VSX processing applied.

Impedance is a difficult topic, because it's hard to really grasp what are the consequences of it, especially since it's the relation of input and output impedance that matters.

But basically impedance is just a frequency dependent resistance. It's especially complicated since it's not just a linear or even log or exponential curve. Especially speaker impedance curves (where the curve is the amount of resistance across frequencies) are not easily described in a simple formula.

If it resists a certain frequency more, you need more power on that frequency to make it as loud.

And that's just what I personally know about it and I never really understood the concept fully. Perhaps someone more educated on this topic add to this.

All this discussion about ATs while the real problem is that bronze and silver medals are completely useless.

All medals should probably be harder and getting gold should feel like an achievement for 90% of the player base. I don't even think silver should be oneshottable for most players.

Of course the problem is you can't do this now, because everyone would riot, while it would actually be better for the game in the long run. Make silver and bronze actually mean something.

Then ATs can be harder, but in turn also not an expectation. Gold should probably be where ATs are now.

And I say this as a person that's not that good at the game. My record is 22 ATs on a campaign.

In order for foviated streaming to work, you need compute in the headset. I agree with your statement that a VR headset doesn't need to be standalone and the product you're describing is definitely what a big chunk of the market wants, but it's probably not very easy. Valve also knows this, so there's a reason why they didn't do this.

As someone that has struggled with similar thoughts in the past, I completely understand where you're coming from, but there's a bunch of perspectives you can see.

You could also argue, why have nothing, when you can have something?

For me, finding something I was truly passionate about and finding something I can make my personal life goal really made my perspective in life different. I still sometimes think it would be easier, but it would also be more boring. I'm not here to always take the easiest path, I'm here because I want to have something to say, I want to make a difference, but I also want to prove what I can do, not to the world, but to myself.

Ultimately maybe it's all meaningless, maybe not, but it's the only thing we have. Why not make the best of it, instead of giving it all up.

I do have some closing thoughts, I'm located in the Netherlands where social security is a lot higher compared to the US (which is where most of this subreddit is from I believe), I may be speaking from a place of privilege where simply surviving is a lot easier. I never had to work even 2 jobs to make ends meet and always have had time to pour into my passion, from what I've heard, you need to have a lot more tenacity in the US, which will break people over time.

I like to think about the speed of light as infinite speed. A lot of things within physics make more intuitive sense that way. (To go a bit more in-depth beyond ELI5, you can "modulate" the speed of light to be infinite in non-euclidian space and I personally think it makes more sense to think of the universe in that way).

As for why the speed of light is finite, I'd say it's simply the "rate" of the universe.

We do not really have a good answer why that's the "rate", but if you think about the speed of light as infinite speed, that question becomes not as important.

Even though the advice is genuinely good, the problem is that there's a lot of teachers that just aren't really that good.

But aside from that, as a guitar teacher myself, from the other perspective I notice my style works really well for some people and doesn't work work great for others.

I'm at my best when teaching advanced players break though technique ceilings and how to play with phrasing, while I'm not that good at explaining the basics.

So my advice would be to test multiple teachers to see which teacher is the best fit for you.

I'm pretty sure all sound-based AI is trained on MP3, since training on WAV is just too computationally intensive. I think that's the biggest reason why AI generated music sounds weird. The top end has artifacts and transients sound weird, just like MP3s.

Basically curl your fingers 180 degrees, so the tip is pointing towards yourself.

Lay your pick on top of the top segment (the segment that has the nail) of your index finger, with the tip of the pick facing sideways (perpendicular to your nail). It should balance on its own.

Simply rest your thumb on top (not the tip, but with the fingerprint, so your thumb is roughly straight) and don't squeeze. The surface area of your fingers will provide enough grip.

The only real way to do this AFAIK is to select the part you want to remove with time selection, right click the timeline and select the option 'remove contents of selection (moving later items)'. You can assign a hotkey to this action in the actions menu.

I do want to add, the general information he gives is very good and accurate, however you should only follow his gear recommendations if you play similar shows he does. For larger shows you really shouldn't invest in NUX or Phenyx gear.

The Audio-technica wireless IEMs he recommendeds are very solid though, even for bigger shows.

Funnily enough there're companies that no longer use planks and there're even companies trying to eliminate the strings, however this last one is not really that successful.

Eiwit komt ook uit ei en melk.

En als je helemaal geen dierlijke producten wil, kun je ook noten eten. Dingen zoals pindakaas zijn ook rijk aan eiwit.

I just finished mixing my modern metal band and I honestly agree with your take on Spiritbox and poppy. So I can think I have some interesting insight.

Modern metal is often mixed (it's actually moreso the master than the mix) in a way where there's a lot of information in the 2-4k region. This has 2 reasons.

1: Loudness, this very scooped curve lends itself really well for maximum loudness and cleans up a lot of the extra added distortion added with a lot of clipping and limiting. This squashed sound is apparently something most people like, or at least the fans of the genre.

2: Aggressiveness. Abrasive sound is often the goal, since it sounds more aggressive and has a bit more impact.

This often results in mixes that lack some information in 400-800 region. For me personally I get a lot of harmonic information in that area, so most of these mixes make me have a hard time hearing the music.

At the very least it's just the sound that fans of the genre expect, so doing it differently probably affects how much people will listen to your stuff.

Mixing so you like it is the easy part, mixing so others like it is the hard part.

There's owners that keep their bird fully flighted, but it takes a lot more effort, training and precaution to do this safely and responsibly. Clipping is for the birds safety as well.

Also, it's not a permanent thing, the feathers grow back.
