The bottom pic is the side of the fairinga. The rider when croutched down puta hia fore arma over those ovals which seals them. This allows the air that enters the bike (top pic) to be diverted to the outside of the fairinga stalling it's airflow

All the Fruct did was stall the rear wing to reduce drag. You are getting the same effect with the active wings this year.
