I mean… you aren’t guaranteed that regular swim bottoms (or any other garment) haven’t been bled on.

I like dawn powerwash and a scrub daddy to fade it.

I go by sleeve length separating tops, sweaters/jackets, and dresses.

Salty_Front_2788

I think some folks would love it. Restraint in dye is very difficult.

Salty_Front_2788

I would just leave it out in the sun to lighten the color

Salty_Front_2788

I’m thinking an ombré look. I wouldn’t count on it being cotton- especially not the fine netting.

Salty_Front_2788

What do you meat you don’t have heating and it is 40 degrees out? Are you safe?

Salty_Front_2788

I thought the whole point of muck was that you couldn’t mess it up

Salty_Front_2788

I love where you are going with this! I’d love to see it on a black background.

I don’t see anything wrong with either of these two. It’s just a matter of taste frankly. I think the patterning you got is great. I would work a little bit on color selection. Which is something I’m working on myself. I think adding some richer colors would really make these pop. You have kind of a neon yellow in the green piece that I would swap out and hopefully get like a more forest green involved and on the other one may be some purple to help the transition from blue to pink. That would really make them pop!

I think you have a lot of good answers here and you can totally redo it. My question is- did you apply dye to both sides?

Salty_Front_2788

I don’t mix mine with soda ash but I keep unused dye in the fridge with no issues

Salty_Front_2788

I’ve had it with both. I think the bigger factors are the density of the garment when it’s folded as well as how quickly the ice is melting.

Salty_Front_2788

You totally can! More ice and more dye are always an option.

Salty_Front_2788

More ice! I almost always replenish the ice when I’m ice dying when most of it is melted

Salty_Front_2788

I’ve done some muck dyes that look like this

I have a code if anyone wants $30 off: https://share.nuuly.com/elizabeth8577

Here is the range of outcomes that I got! For some reason there’s a lot of this weird highlighter yellow color. I was using Kaleidoscope eyes from dharma. I think when I try again, I will use more dye and pay attention to which side is up. I I may also try again with a plastic basket as I’m wondering if color from the cardboard impacted them at all. Oh and there was a slight incline in my yard.

Then you do what with the excess? The water always returns to the system. Thanks for giving me motivation to complete my research into this. Soda Ash is commonly used in water treatment to adjust ph. As for the “other shit” I have two layers of cotton and a layer of cardboard as absorbent filters, and in these small quantities the worst I’m likely to to do is kill the awful Bermuda grass in this spot that my county will pay me to take out.

Salty_Front_2788

Nice! I’d love to compare results with you. I went cardboard so that they aren’t sitting in the muck. I want to try it straight in the grass too.
