Maybe this is a dumb idea but do you have local Facebook groups/pages or local small game stores? You could post there and ask if anyone has the cartridge that would meet you somewhere and let you update the game with their cart, though the update took a couple hours for me and I generally have good wifi. (The update before it shows the upgrade) That really depends on your community though I guess. Check your nearby libraries too if you havent, some lend out games just like they do books.

I bought a Switch 2 only because the rumors had started about a price increase and I thought theyd go the same as Xbox/PS and increase it 100+. Bought it about a week or less before Pokopias release date. I grabbed Pokopia knowing almost nothing about it (only watched the trailer) and thought I honestly probably wouldnt like it but had nothing else to play on the S2 besides Pokemon games I had on the S1.

I was immediately hooked and sunk almost 500 hours into it before I started getting a little burnt out and am taking a break (mainly to focus on Witcher 3 moreso than tired of Pokopia) and played from March (I think? Whenever it released) until just a week or two ago, every day. Id never played a cozy or building game prior to Pokopia.

Before the Switch 2, I hadnt picked up my OLED in over a year but probably closer to 2 even though I loved my OLED. I was really only playing Pokemon games as they released. Since getting the S2 Ive branched out into out games I never would have been interested in trying before and series Id never played before. Im playing Splatoon Raiders right now, even though Ive never cared to try Splatoon before (its not nearly as hard as it may look even for someone who doesnt have shooter game experience) and loving it.

In my personal opinion, both Pokopia and Switch 2 are worth it. Ive played and finished more games in the last handful of months than I have in the last almost decade. Even just the upgraded graphics and faster load times makes the upgrade from S1 to S2 worth it. But "worth it" will honestly be a different opinion for everyone and what theyre looking to get out of it.

Its crazy how fast and high the price jumped.. like immediately after the Remaster announcement. Im so glad I grabbed my copy after I accepted defeat after the June Nintendo Direct (when no announcement for DLC coming to S2 then) and figured Id just play it with the handheld boost on.

I paid $29 for the Complete Edition Box Set that had the game, case, map, stickers, booklet and outside cardboard box. (Im not shitting on OPs price at all by saying that, I understand prices have gone up since then).

ScalesNailsnTales

If you cant get them to clear the balance for you, you can go in the eshop and should be able to sort by price I believe. I know there was some cat game or something that cost 0.01 and Im sure theres something that cost under a dollar. Sure youd have to spend some change, but it would use your balance.

Might be less of a headache than arguing with customer service about it.

Copy ans pasting my answer to someone else to answer your last question:

Get an account on DekuDeals, download the app and make a wishlist. It will send you notifications when a game on your wishlist goes on sale. Join Nintendo/Switch deal subreddits that post when games go on sale.

If youre getting digital games, search reddit and join subs that post about discounted (Nintendo) gift cards. Costco usually has them discounted if you have a membership there. Ive been getting $10 ones that are discounted on Amazon. That will give you a deeper discount if youre waiting and buying games on sale.

If youre getting physical games, check your local sites like Facebook marketplace, Offerup, etc. Also check ebay and other places you can buy used. Woot is another site that you can buy games discounted (ran by Amazon), though I usually wait until they have the promo codes for an additional 15-20% off listed price. DekuDeals also tracks physical editions from Walmart, Target, Gamestop etc.

If you just want to play and dont care about owning the games, see if your local library carries games to borrow. A lot of them do or can have them shipped in if its part of the system that participates. Gamefly is also still around and has Switch 1 and 2 games you can rent, I believe the standard membership is $20 a month.

Ive only paid full price for two games I believe? Pokopia because I got it on release day. And Pragmata because I was having a hard time finding a used copy that was less than new for some reason. I got Breath of the Wild S2 edition new for $40 and Tears of the Kingdom S2 edition new for $55 from Walmart. I got Little Nightmares 3 from Woot for $7. The Barbie horse game my daughter wanted for her birthday new from Bestbuy for $6. Mario RPG and Mario & Luigi Brotherhood new from Gamestop for $15 each. Ive bought a lot more too, those are just the ones I can think of immediately that are physical. The eshop is constantly rotating games that are on sale and Ive gotten a ton of games for just a few dollars digitally. For their Summer Sale, I bought $200 worth of Gift Cards for $170 then bought almost 20 games that were on sale (mix of S1 and S2 games) that would have cost about $470 if I paid full price for them all. And all those are just what I have found since about late April, maybe start of June?

Theres deals out there, even for first party games. You just have to look around and have some patience to get a good deal on it.

ScalesNailsnTales

You'd need multiple cartridges if youre wanting to play together but on your own Switch.

I believe the multiplayer in sidescrolling you just have to stay near each other. If one of you runs ahead and leaves the other(s) behind, they will turn into ghosts and reappear on the screen where the person ahead is. I tried playing couch co-op with my 6 and 4yr old and my 4yr old kept trying to run back instead of forward then getting upset when she was a ghost lol.

ScalesNailsnTales

Does it show up in your order history on your account in the eshop app/site? As long as its there, I wouldnt worry much about it and just leave the money in the account in case they try to pull it between now and release.

If Im remembering right, theres a "pre authorization" hold that comes out first (which is when you get the first email) that will/can release then the actual charge comes out of your account (when you get the 2nd email).

I paid with Paypal for the game (dont have the monry for the console unfortunately) and it said "Completed" on my Paypal but it hadnt pulled the money from my account so I was kinda worried too. Then I think it was the day after it pulled the money out of my account. When I was googling and searching around the first day, the authorization and such is the answer I got.

ScalesNailsnTales

Hes not. Sounds like ex gifted a game by using her card, then when they broke up or whatever she reported it as fraud thru her bank. Now OP cant use any card, including his own, because of the fraud report.

Oh Im glad to hear that! I played on S1 and have been wanting to do a rerun on S2. There was so many glitches on S1 but I had fun with it taking screen recordings of like.. Mimikyu slowly sliding down the hill out of battle lmao.

Or swimming pokemon taking the steps and just taking a stroll down the sidewalk instead of staying in the water lol. Lots of goofy things that were obvious bugs/glitches but made me laugh.

ScalesNailsnTales

Thats definitely how I would do it. No point in spending more money next year when the new one comes out. Any Mario games will be S2 also.

Plus the S1 games look a lot better on the S2 anyway!

ScalesNailsnTales

Your button that keeps it locked in place is broken, and likely something else in the joycon that makes it recognize its actually on the console. You should need to press the tiny button on the back of the joycon to take it off.

My kids Switch did the same yours is. One would recognize it was attached, the other wouldn't. He had to play with both joycons detached to play a game. Getting him new joycons fixed the problem. I just got him a 3rd party Mario set from Walmart for $30 and theyve worked fine since, but they were cheaper because they dont have the reader that reads Amiibos if you use those.

I know youre young, but you need to be more gentle with your system. Theres tiny things in there (like the lock button for the joycon) that are easily broken with rough use. And electronics are expensive, even older ones like the original Switch (theyre actually more expensive now than they were when they were new).

See if your parents will buy you a 3rd party pair of joycons to use (especially until you are handling the system more gently) and save the joycons you have now to play 2 player games with the joycons detached.

ScalesNailsnTales

The one side of my OLED decided to start letting the joycon slide out without pushing the button in, despite me being the only user and super careful using it (also hardly ever removing the joycons).

My 6yr olds one joycon stopped clicking into place but thankfully new joycons fixed that.

But I do agree the OP here is being super rough with it and thats likely what caused it in their instance.

ScalesNailsnTales

NOR, at all. Telling him to get off and leaving was not overreacting either. Ive gone thru this same thing, talking about the ex too much, called her name once during sex, he was still best friends with her brother. But I was too young, dŭmb and trying to be understanding (Well.. they were together on and off for years. Im sure it takes time to get over it in your head).

We talked about it and I was understanding and forgave. Well, he cheated on me multiple times with her. Including while I was pregnant with our kid (first time he physically cheated).

Dont be me. I wish I would have packed my shit and been gone when the red flags were first waving in my face. It would have saved me TONS of heartbreak, betrayal trauma and trust issues. Dont let this slide, if you show him that you will forgive him and move on from it then he will take that as a sign that you may get upset but ultimately he can walk over you. ESPECIALLY since you JUST had the conversation about it.

ScalesNailsnTales

Darwins Paradox was really fun! Goes on sale in the eshop for $15 or less every so often!

ScalesNailsnTales

Our Walmart has a phone salesperson that hangs out around electronics. Then they also have like 3 people that are walking around trying to get names and numbers for their "home makeover giveaway - you can choose to get a new roof, windows or (I think) bathroom!". Then they also let certain people set up outside both grocery and pharmacy doors to sell their mugs and tshirts for whatever organization their fundraising for. I hate it so much 😭

ScalesNailsnTales

Are you able to ask them? Someone has to be the guardian of a child account. So even if they havent played themselves, they would have had to make an account to make your account. Or attached your account to someones adult account. Your best bet would probably be to ask them about it.

ScalesNailsnTales

Any account for under 18 is labeled as a child account, whether it has parental controls enabled or not. This would also put it in a family account because one of your parents would have needed to make an account to be the guardian of your child account.

Does either of your parents have a Nintendo account? If neither of them actually play, its worth the ask if they set up an account to make your account. They would need to log in on the nintendo website on their account, go to family group, sign in and security settings then they can change your password from there.

Once you are 18 they can change your account to an adult account, but you'll need them to actually change it. I dont believe it switches over automatically.

ScalesNailsnTales

Most people I know into Pokemon are in or close to their 30s (me included). But most of those people also know that life, responsibilities and loved ones come first. Playing Pokemon isnt the problem here lol.

ScalesNailsnTales

Younwere exactly right in everything you said. If he wanted to be there he would have been. No matter what. If he really loved you and cared, he wouldnt have let what your parents may think stop him. Hell, the fact that he didnt hear from you should have alarmed him, what if something happened/went wrong? And he couldnt at least show up and knock on the door?

His excuse is weak and lame. You specifically stated that you wanted him there. And he wants to act like you didnt communicate clearly to turn it back around on you so he doesnt have to take any accountability.

Please know that this will never get any better and if he doesnt care NOW in such a serious situation, especially one that he was partly reaponsible for, he wont care more in other situations where you need him either. Speaking from experience with someone who acted just like this. And nothing you do or no matter how much or how well you communicate will ever change the way they are. They will just find another excuse and why its your fault they werent there.

You deserve better than this. I hope you are feeling better, both physically and mentally.

ScalesNailsnTales

Why are you in a help subreddit if you dislike helping and answering questions so much?

ScalesNailsnTales

Id love to do this just out of curiosity. But unfortunately I have the memory of a goldfish and would 100% forget I started it until days later. 🫠

ScalesNailsnTales

Im not sure if this is what youre looking for but here is how to transfer a supervised account from one family group to another. He will lose his saves/games if you delete the account.

ScalesNailsnTales

Just to speak on the hand thing, since Im sure everyone covered everything else, Im also a women (and also only 4'11) and I never have any issues with hand cramping. Actually I usually see people with bigger hands having more issues with hand cramping. The switch 2 actually feels comfortable to me even without any addons, but there are definitely grips/cases that will make the joycons thicker if you do have issues.
