Human attention is land, kinda. It's a finite resource that can be exploited for profit

£5.6k annuity per year is pretty insane. Easily worth £70k+

Individual stock returns have always been heavily skewed towards a small proportion of companies.
This is kind of normal

It's trans-fats that are bad for you. Not fats for trans. Easy mistake to make

Chili is kinda an umbrella dish for many home cooked dishes that are slowcooked and contain chili peppers.
In the UK chili is a weeknight meal with mince, tomato, stock, kidney beans, obviously chilis, onion and carrot, and green bell pepper. Served over rice or in a wrap.
Just everyday supermarket staples you can feed a group with and reheat the day after if you need. Nothing fancy or specific. People like to add all kinds of things to it

No-one can predict interest rates. I think there's a good chance the Iran crisis causes more inflation and that pushes interest rates up again, which should push flat prices down even more.
If interest rates do go down and prices go up it would suck a bit, but I'm not in a hurry to buy

Trump hasn't been great for the US stock market. The US stock market has been great in-spite of Trump, not because of him

As a YIMBY I'm very pleased to see prices coming down and I want to keep building until they go down more.
They're perfectly sellable flats, it's just dumb that they're trying to charge too much for them. Drop £50k off the price and we'll see how unsellable they are
Scrapheaper
The other thing is the depreciation of the building. Service charges are supposed to be used to fill the sinking fund that is needed to keep the building from crumbling over 50+ year periods.
Some flats might not have high service charges but the building can be crumbling to bits with no way to restore it

I'm in a position to be able to save and rent. Another year means another 4k LISA plus 1k bonus. Plus some more interest, at ~4.5% in moneybox.
In general if your rent is so high that it eats your savings, then I would consider moving if you don't have a good chance of more income coming in in the next couple years. You can put up with negative finances for a period, or if you're a student whatever, but I wouldn't do it for long

Gonna hold off buying another year 🙏

Yeah no-one gives a shit about the deal. We give a shit about the 52% of the ignorant flickers who Russia managed to persuade to vote Leave

What makes you think you know what stocks will do well in the future? Countless full time financial professionals have failed to predict this, how do you know?
Broadly as a beginner it's smart to start with the efficient market hypothesis: assume all stocks are equally good and bad because their price already reflects how 'good' they are. Good companies have expensive stock, which means they are less good as investments. Bad companies have cheap stock, which makes them better investments. Overall it balances out.
It's ok - as long as you understand that stocks are almost entirely random and the majority of individual stocks lose money (with a small minority making large amounts of money)

That's great!
I think if you have a military job you'll be able to accumulate a lot of savings when you're deployed since your living costs will be low. This will give you a good start to invest in global equities from early on in your life, with plenty of time for them to compound.
There will be some decisions to make about whether you want to save to buy a house, my advice is not to rush into it, sticking with global equity is a very solid strategy no matter what else is happening in your life.
Potentially if things go really well you might end up on track to retire early, although it will depend a lot on your lifestyle and how well global markets perform over the next 30-40 years.

Individual stocks are generally not considered a good idea unless you like to gamble. There's little evidence anyone can achieve outperformance by picking stocks, including professional investors.
All world is a good, standard investment, especially at your age.
In general the most important investment at age 18 is yourself I.e. spending on things which improve your chances of having a good income in future, like access to education, work experience, or places with strong job markets and lots of opportunity. Make sure your investments don't come at the expense of career opportunities

Default providers won't have a huge range of options for investing in index funds. My current provider (Scottish Widows) does have one available, but it's not as cheap or as comprehensive as something like VALL.
If you want to have the full range of funds available: get yourself a SIPP account (Self-invested personal pension) and then you will have a much bigger range of options, and slightly cheaper fees as well.
I'm not sure about being a US citizen! Might be worth consulting a professional over, as long as the fees aren't too expensive

I don't find breaking down your own whole chicken is cheaper.
I find legs are pretty cheap, especially drumsticks. So if you want to save money, get good at cooking them. I like to roast them, if you do it slowly they get very tender, with crispy skin

Yeah of course some do. But having to start by filtering out the majority of people who aren't interested doesn't really feel like the best approach
Scrapheaper
I'm not saying no-one wants to be hit on - like obviously it can happen. But the odds are a lot lower when you have to start by filtering out the majority of people
Scrapheaper
The game was pretty close, there's an argument if Caitlyn builds QSS then she risks not having the damage to win the fight and DK just beat them anyway.
Scrapheaper
On a regular night out most people aren't single and don't appreciate being hit on. You're paying to ensure attendees have a degree of commitment to dating and that you aren't going to get a bad reputation if you do laps of the bar talking to everyone

Career is cracked. I used to be a Lehends fan, he's fallen off a little bit over the years, but this play alone is making me a fan. Love a great poppy player as well

Way too many culture war references. People who engage in these kinds of questions are dumb

VALL, obviously
In a dilapidated post industrial town, land value is very low, so LVT is also very low, and the effect of LVT is also very low.
LVT only makes a difference when land value is high
