Execution haha I see what you did there

Secretmapper

Their feudal army will roll over you if you go 2TC + Castle with a few spears against a Zhu Xi/French who knows what they're doing.

Unless you're english and go WT I guess.

Secretmapper

Did you just watch the first 20 seconds lol.

It's not a youtube short, its like 15 minutes long.

Secretmapper

Drop replays and I'll try analyze your games.

Constantly being rushed in dark and feudal feels almost impossible to stop.

This is why replays are handy - as it can be an execution thing. You might be doing something wrong in how you trade, improperly scouting etc.

Plus, the lack of eco bonuses makes it nigh impossible to catch up if they deny your gold.

If you have military schools, you should get 'free' resources from the units it makes.

You also have the sheep vizier point so that again gives you a huge food bonus.

So unless your trading super badly you should have a fighting chance.

Secretmapper

AC7 is a perfectly fine game to start with.

Secretmapper

Sure lol whatever makes you feel better.

Secretmapper

Yes I know, that's why I mentioned rudimentary scenario because I know the math isn't exact.

Secretmapper

Range generally is your DPS.

In a rudimentary scenario, +1 range attack means something like say +1 x 30 archers so +30 DPS directly.

+1 melee attack isn't, because you'd have to take into account them walking, them not being able to surround fully, etc.

This is why something like Sipahi are OP - their extra range means they can attack more frequently and consistently.

Secretmapper

It reminds me of that Mike Tyson quote.

"Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" which is accurate XD It becomes chill until it doesn't. But that learning process is the best part.

Secretmapper

Yeah, I think all RTS fans go through this. I remember the first time I played Multiplayer - I thought I was ready cause I've been playing starcraft, age of empires, command and conquer single player for a while, and promptly got my ass handed to me.

Going from SP -> MP is always a shock because you realize how unchill an actual strategy game is, because in SP you can always just chill lol. But if you're playing against a human you have to be decisive, sharp and actually think.

Secretmapper

I don't think that's true at all and perverts Chuck and Howard's relationship quite a lot. Howard not resisting is not because of Chuck threatening to leave IMO, it's because he respects Chuck too much. We see this in many ways, i.e. when Chuck comes back to 'steal' Mesa Verde back.

But it is an interesting view point.

Secretmapper

What's your profile in aoe4world? Would love to see the match history and replays.

Secretmapper

Even then that's way easier to come back in than getting all-inned w/ 2v2

Secretmapper

2v2 is just too hard if you're playing with a random. Even if your teammate plays properly as a 'teammate' during that kind of push I doubt that it'd make much of a difference if your opponent knows what they're doing. Like OP said certain builds don't really work in 2v2, 2tc could have already been the death sentence in the matchup.

Secretmapper

It's just really not there yet unfortunately. They don't even play in the same universe, GIMP is that far behind.

I say this as someone who drives linux daily.

Secretmapper

I'd love to think that goes without saying, but maybe obvious things need to be said still.

Secretmapper

I mean isn't that OP/parent's point though? Yeah it exists but it probably won't have the workflows/complex options that Photoshop has.

Secretmapper

For real tho you do sound like rage bait from the way you typed that post lol.

Anyway if it’s not for you it’s not for you. I would say if it doesn’t get you hooked from the 8 episodes you watch you probably wont get it, and yeah the people kinda joking about you cause of the narrator has some sweet irony to it lol. Hint: it’s a bit like saying you love how much chuck loves his brother before the reveal.

From your post it just feels like it didn’t really vibe with you. The cinematography, plot, themes, etc of the work I found really gripping, so if you have problems connecting with it I dont think it will really improve since the show will have those in spades. I suppose you can finish the first season at least (like I said theres a chuck level kinda twist there which reframes the story)

Secretmapper

I mean I get your sentiment (and it is honestly a very good and valid one) but the analogy doesn't really make sense because if you're playing scrabble (which is a free for all) and you're targeting someone specifically, that's just intentionally being a dick.

Equating that to DBD's problems is unfair, because as much as we like it or not, tunneling is just a very effective strategy*, which is why a lot of people gravitate toward it. I know there's multiple caveats to that, people don't need to tunnel, etc. etc. But we also can't deny there's a gameplay reason for it, which is why it's such a pervasive problem.

If we keep it in the context of board games - there's a reason why 'tunneling' doesn't really exist in the DBD board game, because you can't really tunnel someone out! In another 1vX game like Descent, "Kills" aren't the score, and that's now how you win, etc.

The problem in DBD is the degenerate strategy and the win condition are the same action.

Ofc "we don't always need to win and we can just have fun" is a reason why, and honestly it'sa good one! But again, I think its just unfair to equate "being a dick"/"being a bad host" when in reality the problem is "playing dirty" is a dominant strategy.

Secretmapper

Definitely not, Obra Dinn had a long dev log in one of the most popular game dev forums.

In fact that was one of the examples he used as to why he hates the AI thing - he can't share a dev log like he did for Obra Dinn.

Secretmapper

Damn you almost made me want to play Horizon (the racing one)

Secretmapper

Which says a lot about Light.

His ideal world is... one where he's infallible and no one ever criticizes or challenges him in public (and lets face it private), or else.

Secretmapper

In the books he also wanted to kill lazy people and people who don’t conform to his standards of a contributing member of society.

So I guess it depends on your morality if one considers homeless people as guilty worthy of death.

Secretmapper

You’re missing the point. Light killed him because of the taunt, and so his feelings being hurt is the main reason, which is exactly as L predicted - Light is a petulant child who thinks he’s a god.

The safe and smart move would have been to ignore it.

Secretmapper

Thats against the death note rules btw.

I feel like people who defend Light or think it’s a gray zone are forgetting huge parts of the show/manga or mechanics of the death note so it puts light in a more sympathetic light.
