There are levels to it.
Fan service for me is dessert. Its nice when juxtaposed against everything else giving the story a nice contrast.
Like in the old animated street fighter movie. It was just regular street fighter shit, but then shower scene with Chun Li’s bare tits. That was hot because it was scarce and unexpected. Or same with Rose in the titanic. That became THE iconic boobie scene of the 90s because everything else leading to it wasnt particularly horny so it made for an exciting contrast
But when the show or the game has people in their dayclothes showing TnA it kinda takes me out of it. Its one thing if its a femme fatale character like Judith in Tales of Vesperia it was hot because it fit her personality being a somewhat flirtatious dragoon who needed a lot of mobility. But if the rest of the cast did that even though it doesnt match their personality it just feels annoying at best and obnoxious targeted corporate marketing at worst

As a bit of a math nerd and numberphile I generally hate it when anime or games scale shit to “infinity” or “beyond infinity” I feel like they downplay how big the number actually is, especially when its one asspull away from being negated.
Wrapping your head around to how big somehing like 10^80 (atoms in the observable universe) is then the other big numbers that absolutely dwarf that like Grahams number or TREE(3) and realizing how those incomprehensibly big numbers are practically as close to infinity as 0.1 is. All of a sudden some anime twink is gonna say they have the power of “infinity” but then some other anime twink has the power of “infinity + 1” and thus can negate the other guys infinity. Then turns out every other anime dude from then on also has the power of infinity and all of a sudden infinity is treated like how kids do it in playgrounds. It just feels so lame

I have no real problem with 5 star SPs of 4 star or standard 5 star characters. I’ve never actually intentionally pulled for them so it doesnt feel gross. I will pull for Mischa if he’s BIS for my himenova no problem.
I will only pull for a SP of a limited character if they’re a massive boon for a character that I actually care about. Like I care about Obsidian the most based on these leaks. If she can work fine with the old DOT team and if my old dot team with full e2 + e2 obsidian can reasonably 0 cycle AA King then I’ll skip SP Kafka. If the dot team is massively gimped without sp kafka then ill pull.
Otherwise I really dont like the idea of reselling me an old character I already pulled for so as much as possible Ill skip

Seeing dina reminds me why I quit the game.
My favorite ffbe character, I got into the game a bit late so I never got into when OG Dina was in her prime. So when White Lily Dina was announced I saved all my gems for her. Only to then pull her and realize that her chain frames were kinda off by like a frame which made chaining her with other chaos wave / chaos wave awakened characters a fucking nightmare.
All that saving only to end up shit because my ipads screen lag and the game didnt want to play nice with each other.
Anyway, at least now I can enjoy her in her “prime” in this game

This is so wrong. Mizuki with normal swirl is great at low levels. Not to mention her healing and flight and her playstyle is extremely safe since she can attack and move at the same time.

Its crap, but im invested in seeing how the story goes so I’ll stick around for a bit. I login like 5x a month or something whereas before I did all my dailies diligently. I’ve also stopped spending as much whereas back then I’d e6 units without much of a care.
I have so many complaints. But mostly centered around novaflares and general balancing and how fucking slow they are.
My favorite gacha right now is reverse 1999 and that game arguably has worse powercreep than this game. The difference though is that we get 2-3 novaflares per month, and the game doesnt feel like it pushes you to get portraits (eidolons). That plus other general f2p measures (almost everyone added to 50/50 loss pool, no gacha weapon, better gacha rates) make the community not mind the powercreep as much.
It would hurt less seeing my e6 brickpaz unused on my account if I knew that I had at least 24 chances in a year that topaz might get a novaflare.
But instead we get like 9 a year, and 2/3rds of those are reserved for main pushes. So if you’re a fan of like Jade or Yunli or Cipher then you’re just fucked.

Its more of I still see potential in it and im still somewhat intrigued by the story which is why I havent dropped it.
I’ve played a bunch of gacha games, some in where I’ve spent around as much time and money than HSR and still dropped them because I grew bored of them or just stopped liking the game: Wuwa, ZZZ, Path to Nowhere, Octopath, FFBE (RIP), Another Eden, Alchemist Code (RIP), Arknights, Endfield, Ash Echoes (RIP) etc.

It depends on what you didnt like about the game.
The story is still great. The playable characters can actually be morally grey if not outright evil. They can even outright be killed and still become playable which makes the story exciting for me. Not like other games in where if a character is playable you know that nothing will happen to them and that they’ll be good even if they get stabbed or whatever. Or they’ll die and they’ll get revived.
The character designs are still amazing and varied. But I prefer immersion over fanservice and SoC makes their outfits look really nice and believable. Fanservice skins exist, but they’re either a paid optional skin or for characters where those designs are actually believable (Lucamar).
And the endgame battles are still very strategic, in a sense that you cant just get your wallet whale out for the max dupe 5 star characters and set auto on for tower of adversity and win. Which is refreshing in the gacha space
The game though is just very slow and there are a bunch of timegated systems like memory shards, expeditions, talents and stellar pioneer which make your account stronger overall but require dedication to do so (aka logging in and spending energy every day). There also a lot of other systems in the game which can make them overwhelming for a newer player.
The content cadence for the game makes it perfect as a side game. Usually outside of events you just do your farming and your dailies and thats it. But with the memory shard farming (how you earn free dupes of your characters), talent and pioneer system it actually feels like you’re getting stronger day by day.
If you’re a newer player or a returning player it will take a bit of a time investment. But once you’re a veteran its the same as other gachas. Just log in, play for 3 mins and you’re done.
If you have any natlan character c6’d they’d be tremendously broken and trivialize stygian.
Penacony e6s however are kinda meh relative to the endgame. They’ll still clear but it doesnt compare to how broken a genshin c6 is relative to time released
