Did the Dalai Lama teach you that at the base of a 1000ft crevice?

I wouldn’t put too much stock in leetcode style interviews anyways. They’re really not a good measuring stick for well-rounded programmers as it tends to focus on optimization of data structures and algorithms more than general functional programming and good code hygiene practices.

As a Principle Engineer, I look more for knowledge of broad technical concepts pertaining to the role, troubleshooting and debugging skills, and most importantly the desire for self improvement and growth.

That being said, one thing that helped me whenever I had to do those interviews was to pipe my thought process directly to my mouth. I didn’t give the interviewer any “dead air” because I was thinking through the problem verbally and in real time, whether or not I was on the right track. They would interject something if I’m veering off course, but as you gain experience that happens less and less.

And always remember, the interview is as much you seeing if the company and role is a good fit for you as you are for it/them. Sometimes a “bombed interview” Is really saving you from months or years of torture in a role/team/company you would have despised.

Totally agree with Andy Wier. I had to speed read Project Hail Mary in-between The Gate of the Feral Gods and The Butcher’s Masquerade because my wife wanted to watch the Project Hail Mary movie and had already read the book. It was a genuinely good read and made the movie a bit better since I had context that you just can’t shoehorn into a movie.

I agree, along with handling a None provided as an explicit argument versus not providing an argument at all. I’d prefer using Value/None/Sentinel over Value/False/None to accomplish the same thing, but the use cases are more along the lines of contract and code readability.

I am SO excited about that one. I’ve wanted it since 3.9

SeniorScienceOfficer

Headcannon accepted.

SeniorScienceOfficer

I just started The Butcher’s Masquerade! It’s great!

I feel personally attacked… now excuse me while I stay up until midnight or later watching my shows because “I want to see where the next episode goes…”

Glurp glurp

SeniorScienceOfficer

Let them lol. Too high to care…

SeniorScienceOfficer

More the latter than the former lol

SeniorScienceOfficer

Yo.

I only do it at night after the kids are in bed though.

SeniorScienceOfficer

Goddamnit, Maestro.

Frankly I prefer the winter here over the hot-and-humid-as-balls summer. Autumn is the best though. Chilly, colorful, and nights pocked with sweaters and bonfires.

SeniorScienceOfficer

Ope. Sorry. You’ll be fine though. Have some hot dish.

SeniorScienceOfficer

SEC to investigate if water is wet.

SeniorScienceOfficer

Head canon accepted lol

He’s literally suspicious of Morty in the first scene.

SeniorScienceOfficer

You won’t be disappointed!

It was because of the boys I started reading book one. As soon as I was finished, I bought the next three books. I’m 25% of the way through the third.

I’m so glad I started this series. I haven’t read a book in so long and Matt Diniman makes it such a great ride.

Reduce heat to low and simmer until tender.
