ShakeUpWeeple1800

I don't know if it's true, but I once read an explanation:

Before we had buttons, it was hooks and eyes. When buttons became a thing, they were expensive, therefore the people buying clothes with buttons were wealthy. Most people are right-handed. Wealthy gentlemen dressed themselves, but wealthy ladies had handmaidens to assist them. Tailors started putting the buttons on the opposite side to facilitate this, and it eventually became the standard.

Like I said, dunno if it's true, but it feels plausible.

My brain. It's not that I'm especially smart or witty, but rather that the rest of me is absolutely fucking revolting.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

How does Vlad's cock taste?

ShakeUpWeeple1800

Thank you. I did, although as an RGN it was my responsibility to lead the care givers; if they were doing a poor job then it was usually my fault. I reserve my true ire for other nurses or- more usually- management.

Grenfall Tower fire in England; people were advised to remain in their flats which contributed to a higher rate of fatalities. I suspect that the 'remain in place' advice is still used.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

"I'm not sure, but your face is familiar. . . are you the guy that was convicted for possessing indecent images of kids?'

ShakeUpWeeple1800

Fuck. I've said so many of these things.

TBF, I know I'm a pain in the arse. In my defence, I've spent twenty-five years in health care; if I'm being a pain in your arse then it's because the people you're meant to be helping are suffering from your failures.

'There's nothing left to loot from the shops, but there's dozens of cows in the fields.'

'Nah. I'm eating Geraldine from number ten. Never liked the bitch anyway.'

ShakeUpWeeple1800

Yeah. I mean, I try not to judge but frankly that's greedy. A well-butchered geriatric can last a family of four for a month. Obviously, they'll need plenty of salt/spices for preservation.

I'm joking, but frankly the fact that I'm now fascinated with the concept is a little worrying.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

What's the story in Polyamory, wouldn't you like to know?

ShakeUpWeeple1800

Anything with boiled potatoes. Mainly because it was everything with boiled potatoes. Now I just don't eat them.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

May I ask: is it a dying trade because of a decrease in meat consumption, or because retailers are more interested in quality over quantity: why pay a skilled professional more money to spend more time butchering 100% of a carcass when you can get a minimum wage slave to do 75% of the same in a third of the time? The work won't be of the same quality but the general public won't appreciate it.

My guess it's a combination of both.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

I'll be honest: I've never looked at Jeremy Kyle and thought, There's a man who drinks decaf.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

In Britain, your elderly relative in the care home isn't getting the quality of care they should, not because the people doing the work are incompetent or lazy, but because the people who own the business care more about earnings than they do about client welfare.

Hopefully, there's exceptions, but I'm sad to say that I've never seen them. Also, I imagine it's pretty much the same throughout the rest of the world.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

I think there might be a couple that are still okay. One somewhere in the Cotswolds and the other in the very far north of Scotland.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

The pishy-pants advert where they're doing yoga.

'I'm letting it all go. . .'

'Fuck's sake Denise, it's for stress-related leakage, not so that you can just piss yourself in public, you filthy cow.'

Also, the person that came up with the portmanteau 'Poonami' deserves to drown in a river of shit.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

Some people do this because they genuinely believe that their hard work will be appreciated. Others because because they have a degree of obsessive-compulsive behaviour making it very hard to leave anything 'incomplete'. Some are worried about being found 'short'- there's always a scumbag manager prepared to say 'Are you still not finished?' despite the expectations being completely absurd- somebody who doesn't have a great deal of confidence might do their best to avoid such unfair criticism.

And some people just absolutely suck.

I would want to know exactly what kind of person it is before I wrote them off.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

My wife. Mainly because she clutches the door handle in fear every time somebody does something that she, the passenger, didn't anticipate.

I've got used to it.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

It's not very complimentary. I'm sure there's a lot of very decent people, and I imagine my algorithm is only showing me the absolute worst of things, but it looks absolutely dreadful. I hope that things get better, but I don't see how.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

Incredibly evocative. Yet another scene Jackson could have included in Lord of the Rings but chose not to.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

I'm sorry, you're right. I did not consider the consequences AT ALL.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

I understand that Sydney Sweeney is right- leaning.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

Personally, I'd love it, but it doesn't alter the fact that this kind of behaviour is a societal issue rather than a criminal one; if you're rude and inconsiderate enough that you think that watching obnoxiously loud videos in public is okay, there's absolutely no way that prosecution will change your mind.

I'm not a huge fan of the police- I've seen to many videos of them being absolute cunts for no good reason- but that doesn't alter the fact that- in Britain at least- they're massively underfunded. I'd rather they focused on more serious things.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

I've haven't spent years of my life almost finishing writing shitty novels so that a fucking machine can actually finish a slightly less shitty one.

AI has its uses, but I consider using it to replace human creativity as a sin. Let it spot cancer.

ShakeUpWeeple1800

Unlike Vance, sadly.
