I think it is the best way to play, It would be better if you could not disable it.

This thread is full of people without children, who have no understanding on how to raise children, suggesting extremely negative emotional and physical means to prevent a child from having fun. The Grandma isn't even upset, she is laughing at the obviously funny behavior. Classic reddit, "you are not doing something I specifically find entertaining, and I have been led to believe if children don't listen they are brats and deserve to be punished" you all are a joke.

There is a scene in the comics where batman is sitting in his bat cave looking at a computer display of the joker and the chemical compound he fell into to. His analysis of the compound is that there is nothing special about it, and he often retests and broods over the compound with no insight. Just adds to jokers mystery I suppose.

Robinhood accidently made a bunch of diamond hands because they can bail from GME to NOK or AMC etc

Hi, this is the wrong sub for this unfortunately. You should try something like tech support or PC builder. 99% of the people here won't have any idea how to help.

Shasteam

Well you need to start practicing. Use leet code and hanker rank to reignite some of your old skill. Work on a personal project, make something that you actually want to make.

A personal project will almost guarantee a technical interview, and leet code and hanker rank will let you do well on the technical interview.

You need to find a position in the industry that you find interesting and focus you energy on building those skills.

Being proficient in anything programming related is really tough to know. It is hard to compare our work to the work of others in general. In this case if you were writing a resume, I do not think you should use the word "advanced" to describe your skills in OpenGL. Experienced might be better. Conveniently there exists states between advanced and beginner, but you are not a beginner.

Looks good for four months of work. There are still tons of features you could add to really make in special. Physically based rendering is always good, most companies want to see that. You could learn DirectX or Vulcan and make your engine compatible with both. Add some sort of game component system: http://gameprogrammingpatterns.com/component.html https://gamedev.ru/code/articles/Component_object_system

and the list goes on.

I think this will for sure get you some interviews, if that is what you are looking for.

Very interesting, have you tried converting the texture coords to polar coords? You could increment the uv.xy by some vec2 of time, it would create a pretty cool spiral effect, might lead to something like a giant vortex if you play with it.

Shasteam

What

Shasteam

Yes but the effect on ram and disk space are about the same, less disk space obviously if not precomputed.

Mipmapping is done when you launch a game, it stores all the down samples on the GPU so it it can index it when you are further away from an object. But the texture file is the same size regardless.

Shasteam

When a model is rendered on the screen it uses some amount of textures, this could be the color of the model, maybe the normal map which helps make a model more realistic. There are height maps, roughness, metallic and others depending on the graphics "pipeline." All of these are 4k textures that get down sampled during runtime to accommodate your graphics settings. But every one gets them. Now keep in mind that is just for one model. Some models might share textures, but in a game like COD there are thousands of models. All with their own set of textures, it all adds up.

This reminds me of a few years ago when fallout 4 released a HD texture pack. It was 50GB, which at the the time was larger the the base game.

Shasteam

https://learnopengl.com/Getting-started/Textures

this has some good info on that.

Ill look over it again when I get some time. Good luck

Shasteam

sounds like the ground textures is being loaded at all if it is defaulting to the knight texture.

Shasteam

with glActiveTexture(GL_TEXTURE0) if you only render the ground does it work?

also if the textures are loading correctly

Shasteam

you should try changing the bind texture function to glActiveTexture(GL_TEXTURE1) and see if they both get the ground sprite

Shasteam

Well looking over your code I see you have a constructor managing the creation of your sprites. So I assumed you used it to create 2 different sprites and are trying to render them both. The issue is when you go to bind the texture in your Texture::bind() function, you activate texture0 ie, glActiveTexture(GL_TEXTURE0), so when you render both sprints they are getting only GL_TEXTURE0.

can you link the code where you render the sprites and your shader

To find a route you need to pick one. Best way to do that is to look through available jobs in industries that interest you and look at the requirements. Work backwards from there once you find something that sparks your joy.

/r/cscareerquestions would have better answers for you

Shasteam

Unfortunately knowing about "data structures/algorithms, linear algebra, discrete Math, and OOP" ..etc as you said, is the absolute bare minimum. That is stuff that would be taught in the first year to year and a half of your time at college.

I would look at a BS in CS as the floor, as you work towards that goal, work on personal projects focused on jobs that you would want in the industry.

You do have a few years before you graduate to work on your own coding projects that might impress some employers, but not having a BS is not gonna get you past the resume screening.

EDIT: /r/cscareerquestions will have better answers for you probably

Shasteam

Unlikely, you should try to find a job you would like to get, and work backwards reviewing the experience requirements. Maybe it can be in the programming languages you are learning.

Shasteam

I would suggest https://gameprogrammingpatterns.com/ even if you are not interested in real-time game rendering it is still a fantastic resource.
