Een corrupt en achterlijk kiessysteem past prima bij een corrupt en achterlijk land.

I sent them fake identity information. Only my name was correct, the rest was altered. ;)

They replied with the information they claim to have of me. It's a very minimal set of basic information, like name, e-mail, IP address, registration date, etc.

I did some network sniffing myself, but I couldn't find any suspicious information being sent. In other words, I can't find anything to confirm the claims of the topic starter.

The problem with Wordpress is not PHP. It's the lack of skill among the developers. Most important issue with Wordpress is no MVC. Wordpress built on a framework like Banshee would be great.

Discord and Cauldron VTT, which is free.

Sounds like AI drained intelligence from some people.

Shendryl

A player interface… amazing! Interesting that nobody has ever came up with that idea!

Trump is not the problem. It's those dumbass idiots who voted for him. When Trump is gone, those idiots will still be there. The rest of the world really needs to be 100% independenr from that idiot country.

Shendryl

Well, a lot of Americans are in fact dumb. Very dumb.

Shendryl

Seriously, hoe stupid must you be to believe this bullshit? Trump is not the problem. He's just the result. The real problem are those dumbass idiots voting for him.

You can give the free and open source Cauldron VTT a try.

Shendryl

You want something free? Take a look at Cauldron VTT.

"I’ve vibed…."

You can stop right there.

And because this, in the future, there will be a lot of work in cyber security.

I'm not kidding. In my early days of software developing, assembler was not an uncommon language. Back then, I used inline assembler in my Pascal programs to speed things up. Years later, languages like Java were common and I started noticing that only few of the young people knew assembler. And it's not about knowing assembler, but knowing assembler requires knowledge about the CPU, about memory and how to address it. Those young people didn't knew anything about it. Software developers hardly knew how the computer really works. And that lack of knowledge later extended to more than just CPU and memory.

Today, people start using AI. Like this project, 99% is done by AI. If we continue down this path, we end up with software developers not knowing about how the computer actually works, but also not knowing how software actually works. And to those who say "that doesn't apply to me, I only use AI to assist me". Well, that's where it starts. People are lazy (not intended in a bad way). We search for things that make our lives easier. That's fine, but the lazy part can also be found in software development. Sooner or later, too many people will rely on AI to write code.

We call AI 'intelligent', but I think it can better be seen as an advanced statistics. Given a task/question, it will provide you with an answer that's statistically seen the best one. Statistics based on the information it was trained with. Like I said, I've seen a lot of bad code. With what code was that AI trained? And writing your own code keeps you sharp. It keeps your skill up to date. Using AI for all sorts of tasks makes you lose skill. And you said AI code 'needs to be closed watched'. I full agree, but trust me, sooner or later everybody will blindly trust anything coming from AI, because "it's so easy" and it has always been "good enough".

I work in cyber security. I've also worked in software development for a short time. I've seen a lot of code, specially during code reviews. Good code, but also a lot of bad code. Really bad code. When I write code, I do my best to write secure code. I even go further than that. I try to write provable secure code. Not many people do that and AI surely doesn't do that. AI can't do that, because it is not intelligent, it just does statistics. If you understand that, if you know how a computer really works and if you know what kind of code Average Joe writes and that it has been used to train the AI you're using... well... then you don't use AI to write code for you.

Shendryl

Real software engineers don't use AI…

UVTT is indeed a standard for VTTs and as far as I know the only one. But is not really a universal one. I'm ignoring it in my VTT, as it doesn't work for my VTT. It also doesn't have a useful function in general. My advice: build your VTT according to what you wanr in a VTT and ignore the rest.

Stop turning a fantasy role playing game into a video game. Get rid of the 3D stuff. Go back to the roots of RPG: fantasy stroytelling in a DM/player cooperation. Use 2D maps for combat or moments where distance and/or positioning is relevant.

Shendryl

Well, that's why it's open source (and free). You can check and host it yourself. And be honest, have you ever verified every root certificate in your brower to see whether you can really trust that one?

Shendryl

It's the Windows certificate store that's the challenge here. And the Windows certificate store simply ain't cross platform.

Shendryl

If 'do it yourself' is the answer to everybody asking for some assistance, this world would be a bad place.
