Now that we'll have tons of new players on xbox, how about fixing shooting range PvP? (self.HuntShowdown) [BUGS :snoo_facepalm:]

I want to point out that the toe loop is adjustable. I wear mine loose in town, and tighten it for serious hiking or sports. With the toe loop they attach much more firmly to your foot, preventing any slippage. This is probably only important for serious sports; if you are hiking with a pack you might get minor slippage but I'm not even sure about that. I once played ultimate frisbee in chacos and was delighted that they attached more firmly than most athletic shoes. But that's a pretty extreme use.

I may be talking myself out of the toe loop on my next pair as I write this.

The other mention I want to make is wearing the whole strap loose for casual wear. This allows the shoe to fall away from your foot on every step, moving air between your sole and the the shoe. This keeps your feet cooler and less sweaty/smelly. Odor is the one downside of wearing sandals as standard summer wear. It's easy to clean Chacos but you've got to do it frequently.

Okay, now it's showing up as 3.1 Pro in the web interface, too. So yes, now it's available and perhaps worth the subscription cost again. I similarly thought 3.0 was very disappointing. I haven't tested 3.1 yet.

Simulation_Brain

This is weird, but to me it looks like 3.1 pro hasn't been added to the web app but has been added to the Android app. That's as of today. Perhaps they just didn't change the text on the web app? But it's definitely 3.1 pro on the Android app. It doesn't say 3.1 for fast or thinking.

It's not about human-like motivations or desires. It's about instrumental convergence. We're going to deliberately give them goals. How they understand and pursue those goals is the question. No doomer worth their salt thinks they'll have human-like motivations or desires, or that they'll enslave humanity. The real concerns are different. They're not that complicated, but they're not entirely intuitive, either. If you're interested, look up instrumental convergence or an AI x-risk FAQ. It's not clear that those dangers can't be avoided, but they're not just random irrational fears.

Oh yes the rain was so good! Atmospheric and game-changing in interesting ways.

Simulation_Brain

whaaaat nice!

I don't know Post Malone from a hole in the wall, but I enjoyed the way they worked him into the event. I don't need or want him to "play a character". The guy seems to genuinely like Hunt, that's enough to use him as an advertisement. I want this game and games like it to flourish; commercializing it and having it appeal to more and new players is part of that. Similar cross-marketing schemes could be so much worse. I applaud them for making the celebrity inclusion not-bad.

Simulation_Brain

I hope so! As a console player, I can't wait to grind to feed you kills and loot! ;)

Simulation_Brain

Yes - it's not better than any person since that's how it was trained. But it might be almost as good as the *best* person. Who most of us wouldn't get to talk to.

This is not something you have or don't have. That is a true fact.

That's a story you're telling yourself. It makes your life easier in the short term because you don't have to try.

It makes your life a lot harder in the long term.

Get better, not bitter!

I won't be able to change your mind about this. But there's no disagreement among people who study this stuff - like me. The same is true of intelligence, btw - you're born with an IQ but how you apply it by learning new skills makes all the difference.

Arguing with you isn't going to help you. You have to decide whether to help yourself or just complain. I'm sorry it isn't easier. But it is worth the effort.

Learn, and life gets steadily easier.

Simulation_Brain

My that's awkward. Welp, I'm glad to have it back. Thanks for pointing this out. We'd given up on trying it.

Simulation_Brain

Okay. You're clearly really down about this.

You're treating this like you don't have any control over the situation. You didn't hit the jackpot with your situation, personality, etc, but that doesn't mean you're out of luck, or even that you need to work very hard at it.

Just google how to be attractive and follow some of the easiest advice (don't do anything dishonest; it poisons your soul, and it isn't necessary).

BTW normal is not promiscuous sex. There's an estimate that maybe 20% of guys have 80% of the sex. You're seeing that top few. But young people are having less sex now than at any point in history on average.

When you're feeling a little less down, just google how to be attractive, and do some low-effort stuff. Keep doing it, for yourself, friendships, and career, which also benefit from you being attractive (since attractive really mostly means "not a major mess").

Then sign up on a dating site, and google how to select/take photos and how to write a profile. This completely bypasses you being shy - this was what made it possible for me to be successful at dating.

Your request is that they should give you a chat so you can yell at people? What a compelling argument. Having you vent your frustrations far and wide would make the game so much better for the rest of us.

This is a great explanation for why there will never be a chat system.

Simulation_Brain

Wait WTF? The button just doesn't work on console!

Simulation_Brain

Soooo not only is there no fix but no comments for a month?! Wow! I knew console was the redheaded stepchild (can we still say this) of the Hunt world, but I didn't know stepdad was that busy!

Nicotine is a very strong and a effective stimulant when you first start it. You get a tolerance rapidly, and you're stuck sucking down nicotine just to stay in the same place. And it's hell to quit - more addictive than heroin.

I don't have chronic fatigue, but I unless someone has had very good long term success with nic for fatigue, I'd stay the hell away and look for metabolic or disease/infection solutions.

Speaking as an expert, I'm having to give Shapiro credit for coming up with some of my best ideas before I did. I'm sure there are some experts who think he's full of shit. If they think that this aggressively, I'm pretty sure they're full of shit - because sensible people know they can't predict this stuff that well. I spend full time trying and don't imagine I know everything.

Simulation_Brain

He is not probably right. He's pissed because David got in a squabble with a group he'd started. I was there, it was nobody's fault and certainly not Dave's.

Simulation_Brain

Making this argument about anyone is logically inconsistent. A stopped clock is right twice a day, so this type of ad-hominem rejection will confuse the hell out of anyone who tries it. So if anyone's opinion should be discounted out of hand, it would be this internet commenter. Just don't assume everything he says is wrong; it's just random.

I also just happened to be thinking "shapiro is a genius" before finding this odd emotional rejection. I'm a full time AI expert, focusing on the future applications of LLM agent stuff that Shapiro thought of before any of us.

Sure he's not right about everything, but dismissing conclusions because they're his would be super dumb.

Simulation_Brain

Thanks, I'll check into this before buying a capture card.

Simulation_Brain

Wow, thanks so much!

Simulation_Brain

Placebo vape helped me even with no liquid. She still has to want to quit. It's like being depressed for two weeks.

Simulation_Brain

Really? I always do WT2 for faster advancement and rarely die in early game.
