Just this game is buggy as hell, if you don't have item for experiment, then entire research process will be stopped. You have to manually go into research tab and manually pause projects which have missing components.

SleepCodeRepeat

Distant one :)

Próbowałeś usiąść na toalecie?

SleepCodeRepeat

Why light?

SleepCodeRepeat

Why play ridiculously easy game then?

SleepCodeRepeat

If tripwire is connected to a frag grenade, then demolition expert is your best buddy, but if it’s connected to elf grenade, then no luck :D

SleepCodeRepeat

As someone pointed out you can tune just checks, so it solves one problem

SleepCodeRepeat

Yes, except it’s not about choices (I think that conviction system is brilliant btw.) but about seeing world building object description. What is the purpose of locking me out of it?

Regarding difficulty - I was playing on unfair (from act 2) without any guides, just reading descriptions, and I was able to steamroll everything. Game seemed pretty easy so I was upping difficulty.
Unfair should be labeled to normal. It’s not like I ‘ve spent 5 hours on excel preparing this run.
Operative was useless just because it was faster to skip turn and delete everything with soldier/navigator. It’s not my fault that someone made game like that.

SleepCodeRepeat

Makes sense, I thought this affects skill checks in combat, but it was explained that it’s not the case.

SleepCodeRepeat

What choice do you make by skipping lore text that changes nothing in game?

SleepCodeRepeat

Bump up difficulty level and you will see 😄

SleepCodeRepeat

I thought free rerolls applies only to lore check? If it applies to everything then it's good.

As for DMG I think that are better items, i.e. the one which gives you +40% fire rate, Or this ring that gives +30% dmg if you have 8 or more AP (which is handled by your officer)

SleepCodeRepeat

Good point, I was just playing on Unfair. Uninstalled game already, but would love to check how that fight would go on max sliders.

Is game fun on max sliders (like chess, not excel)?

I'm considering second playthrough but balance throws me off. I wonder if there is a way to make this game more demanding and somehow fix this carry/single turn focused gameplay, but in general my impression was that buffing hp would only force me to optimize my build and not go in direction of making supports/tanks useful.

SleepCodeRepeat

Ouch, so then description was confusing for me, I thought it applies to combat checks too.

I probably've hurt myself for no reason :D

SleepCodeRepeat

Ach that other better item was also Tainted Phylactery which scales from lore xenos :D

SleepCodeRepeat

Still not that good, at most ~20% extra damage to xenos. I guess it's DLC item, but doesn't change too much.

SleepCodeRepeat

> If it bothers you enough, you can just custom difficulty keep everything else the same but give yourself a massive buff to Skills (think it goes to +50)

The problem with this is that it affects also rolls in combat - am I correct there? I'd rather give myself -50, so Cassia does not stunn everything that's not stun immune in the first turn.

SleepCodeRepeat

I don't think so.

Just you should go for perception (not dodge) on your soldier to fix this.
Dodge does not always work, but going first and deleting bosses always work :)

IMO dodge is not a significant issue even on unfair difficulty. In case you encounter enemy with really high dodge (i.e. Uralon the Cruel) then Cassia can go for Killzone Stratagem (forces to reroll dodge) which is enough from my experience.

Advantage of this over Jae is that your Grand Strategist goes first, so it can setup everything in his turn and it's just faster - less clicks.

SleepCodeRepeat

> The lore checks don't really gatekeep anything anymore than any other kind of challenge

Yes, they just remove some world building, so why do this?

> I completely disagree with point 4 although maybe thats because I haven't yet played on the hardest difficulty.

The problem is that all lore is based on intelligence, which is useless stats (operatives are weak). So you need to bring some dead weight to do lore checks, Jae is ideal because she has high base bonuses and can max 2 lores with ease.

Of course all of this doesn't apply if you do not play on unfair difficulty, because then you can do skill checks without a problem.

SleepCodeRepeat

This is fair point about game not explaining everyhting, but you can retrain your character and offset bad choices.

SleepCodeRepeat

Skills do not matter, i.e. stuff is based on intelligence, not logic; strength, not atlethics etc.

Medicae if you are using medkits can be used in combat, but why would you use medkits in combat? Everything dies at turn 1 anyway.

SleepCodeRepeat

Ye, that's also silly. But maybe it's understanable to some extent, otherwise you would always pass every skillcheck, and your characters wouldn't matter, right?

SleepCodeRepeat

Ye, but there are only so many characters who can do lore, as it depends on INT (which is not really useful stat).

SleepCodeRepeat

> With some of the description only checks are also there to provide you with more information about the immediate situation and the idea is that if your party isn't good at that skill they may need to make a choice about how to proceed without that information.

Except it doesn't work like that. Checks which you mention happen usually during dialogues, and then I agree that it's reasonable. But checks which you do by clicking magnifying glass do not really make much difference, just block general wh40k lore from you.

If you play on normal it doesn't matter, but if you play on unfair, then you have to invest everything into lore, max intelligence and then it's not enough.

SleepCodeRepeat

Replayability in this game is killed by bad balance.
