It lags on Firefox desktop for me lol

FINALLY VULKAN SUPPORT. Still don't get it how they managed to release it for DX12 but not Vulkan

SleeplessSloth79

Alright, so, to make it easier to compare, Krea2 Q8 @ 1MP takes me exactly 21 seconds total. So if 7900 takes around 12-15s and my card is slower, this makes it, eh, around as expected more or less, probably.

We still are comparing almost bf16 quality of Q8 and int8convrot which is good but is more lossy than Q8. Not that I wouldn't use int8convrot myself if I could.

SleeplessSloth79

Haven't tried Moss yet (really want to just haven't had time yet) but here are some concrete numbers for Krea2 and MMH3 (which also works great):

Krea2 Turbo Q8 (with Qwen3VL 4b bf16) @ 2 megapixels: 3.98s/it
MMH3 Q8 (with Qwen3VL 32B Q4_K_M) @ 0.98 megapixels & 5 seconds: 62s/it. Pretty slow but I usually run at a lower res. At 0.5 megapixels this gets down to 23s/it.

Note that I run a slight OC on my GPU: 240W power cap + -150 mV undervolt. It's 5-10% slower at stock.

Not saying that it's fast. I actually don't really know the numbers for the Nvidia counterpart at this price range. But it's the best I could manage for my card and way-way-WAY faster that it was before (I remember having to wait for 10+minutes for a Wan gen. And that was WITH a lightning lora lmao)

SleeplessSloth79

Yep, Q8 exactly as fast as bf16. It did require whipping up a custom kernel to achieve that (+ some edits to get it working with the new dynamic VRAM feature in Comfy (which is actually a life-saver for me)) but that was a software limitation, not hardware. In hardware they all run using fp16 math anyway, so it'd be strange for them not to run at the same speed. My AI agent did it in like 20 minutes and now I use Q8 for basically everything in Comfy on my card.

I should probably upload this and some other optimization stuff Claude did for me (a custom RDNA3 HIP attention kernel that maxes out the TFLOPS on my card). Naturally it will have a giant "made by AI, probably unmaintainable" warning on the front page. But if it works, it works. My gens run considerably faster, which is the most important part for me. Maybe it'll be useful to somebody else as well. Radeon cards have a lot of potential speed, the software side is what is limiting it in my experience.

For this specifically, something I just want to run fast and won't ever touch again/have to maintain, I've had great success with just throwing Claude at it, giving it a baseline Comfy workflow, and having it profile it and even write some raw HIP kernels to max out my hardware. That's a bad idea for something that needs care and attention but this works great for a custom 600 line HIP kernel which just works as expected at max theoretical speed.

SleeplessSloth79

That's only true for Nvidia GPUs though (and RDNA4), so keep that in mind. int8 on my RDNA3 RX 7800 XT is slower than bf16, so there's no point whatsoever to not just run bf16 instead. Or maybe Q8 which is almost as good as bf16, exactly as fast as bf16 but takes half the space on disk.

SleeplessSloth79

They completely rebuilt it, it's not cl_crosshair_length instead

SleeplessSloth79

There's a built-in dot crosshair type now, does it not work for you?

SleeplessSloth79

I used to blame 64-tick servers for all my missed headshots in CS:GO. Thanks to CS2's sub-tick, I now have mathematical proof that my aim is just garbage

SleeplessSloth79

Now? It's been like this since forever. Once upon a time I was one of those edgy kids haha. Nothing has changed

SleeplessSloth79

100% was in Java. I remember clearly how I teleported to the nether for the first time in a world and almost fell down because I spawned right in the dead center above a huge lava lake.

SleeplessSloth79

I do let it sometimes but I have btrfs snapshots that are read-only and can't be removed without root so I'm fine even if it decides to nuke everything

SleeplessSloth79

I miss the "Discussions about these articles on Reddit" guy. Always loved reading the comments after reading an article. Looking up if a reddit post for an article exists, especially from my phone, is really annoying.

🧢 I voted CAP!

I replaced my Spotify subscruption with Youtube Premium and couldn't be happier. No ads while watching YT on my TV (which I do daily) AND lots of music that Spotify doesn't have, so I had to go listen to on YT anyway? Yes please. I just hope they don't raise the prices anymore

SleeplessSloth79

Eh, no. If style is the only reason for using event!() then I just won't use it, thank you very much. The separate warn!(), debug!(), and trace!() macros make it way easier to visually filter these lines out when scanning for the most important bits of code in a function, no matter what logging framework or even programming language is used.

I'm open to changing my mind if there's a good technical reason for using event!() but for now I'll keep using my debug!() that I've been using for years since way before AI

SleeplessSloth79

I'm pretty sure you could in theory offload to the dGPU while the display is connected to the iGPU (like muxless laptops do already) but it will decrease performance. I usually just switch back and forth but I use local LLMs that much.

SleeplessSloth79

I've been playing it just fine. The performance isn't that good but it's been playable for me. But definitely worse that CS2. Waiting for a native Linux build, pls volvo

SleeplessSloth79

I no longer have this fear after setting up btrfs hourly snapshots and making sure that I under no circumstances can ever modify them or remove them without root. Now I don't really care much if I accidentally remove something I wasn't intending to because I just do a quick cp -r --reflink=always /.snapshots/1/snapshot/foo/bar /foo and it's back as if nothing happened. It's a really great feeling to never have to worry about losing files (except for my drives dying but that's a different topic altogether...)

SleeplessSloth79

Can't believe I scrolled through all the comments and haven't seen Half-Life 1 & 2 be mention ONCE. What is this heresy?

SleeplessSloth79

They are implying that it was written by an AI, not by you.

SleeplessSloth79

Never used the GUI but this probably toggles between the different FPS limit values. E.g. my MangoHud.conf has fps_limit=0,60,163 for "unlimited, 60, and just under my 170 Hz refresh rate for VRR" and the toggle FPS button toggles between them one by one. Perhaps you only have the one value in your config? Try adding a limit of "0", too

SleeplessSloth79

Never experienced something like that, sorry. I don't personally ever play with framegen on.

SleeplessSloth79

Mangohud doesn't see pre-framegen framerate, so cap at the post-framegen framerate.
