for chess specifically, stockfish uses a neural network as well sine 2020, though that does have somewhat chess-specific design and i'm not sure what it's trained on

don't think llm companies will go as far as training on zero human data but they certainly do something like self-play (synthetic data)

the core of it is the same from what i've seen of the past, though there is a tutorial in the works and some worlds have a green lightbulb robot where you can call a mentor for help (and there's a lot of mentors)

i can say cpu performance should be better, unity was holding them back so they pulled the game out of it and are now only using it for rendering (with plans for a new bespoke renderer)

no real problems, it's just very silly

or rather, it does result in breakage with proton 11 whose container lacks a library, but the solution there is to use proton 10 :p

i will note resonite is Weird by virtue of being two entirely separate processes, engine and renderer (and on linux it runs through proton but then breaks out of proton and into the main steam container so it can run the engine natively)

that and it being notoriously demanding even on pc because of what it's doing (the world is entirely uncompiled, kinda by necessity)

but also the Mobile-Friendly checkbox when creating sessions suggests android compatibility was at some point in the cards so who knows
