As far as mobile GPUs go that’s always been the case and not unique to this.

I dont see it that way. I came up from infrastructure. As far as I see it, you have two tracks, from software eng or infra, and I dont necissrily mean SA. I was mostly systems engineering, debugging PCIe bus, planning infra for HPC, storage etc. I mean knowing it. Like explain which compute can be used for software devs AVX512 stuff.

I know some C# some rust, I am pretty confident in posh, bash and bat.

My daily life now consists of automating what the devs make, be that helping them auto compile via CI/CD or auto deploy. Maybe they made in app in python and need it put in a container. I help, I automate, I deploy.

I look at what the software people want to do, I look at what the business wants, I find the cluster to put it on. Most of my life is in .yml

Do you didnt. That game didnt even release until 2 years later, with beta the same year.

Sounds like a human did a successful upgrade and someone missed WSUS config or it wasnt tasked for testing, and you seem a little salty you may not be a senior?

Solaris17

Thats just because people with problems bitch the loudest. No one is holding up signs saying how awesome there hyper-v stack is because it just works and I dont want to pay attention to it. In the case of those clients with networking ticket, I am sure its because there networking was garbage.

I have seen it so many times even with things like proxmox where shops just point that shit over a single iSCSI path back to like a NAS on a 10Gb link and expect it to be sunshine and rainbows. Its cool if it works for your needs but to call it enterprise.....like chief.

Thanks for saving me, all these years later denvercoder9

Once I was RDPd into one of my offices and I was cleaning AD.

I had taken over from another admin and it was really still the "listen to the ground" stage of my tenure, so no rocking the boat while I learned the infra.

I had 2 windows open.

AD Users and computers
&
Group policy management

I am sitting on my couch and I just get done making some configurations and moving some GPOs to new folders and re working the tree.

I moved all the GPOs out of a folder.

I minimize the windows and run gpupdate.

Everything is as it should be.

I bring the window back up

I delete the old folder

I lose connection to RDP

I was in user and computers

😄

Thankfully this specific branch office was only like a 1 hour drive.

Spent the next several rejoining everything to the domain. I enabled AD recyle bin before I left.

Other then the obvious not rates, and you should replace that cable now, this 100% looks like you did not use a service loop and you should.

Solaris17

Yes Linux client pleaseeeeee

I thought he was trying to rebuild an engine.

I just got done building a "steam machine" with a 7900XTX I had lying around and a 13900ks from my closet. Honestly, I love it, my SO loves it. Most of our games are on steam, and it really breathed new life into the living room and the hobby. It replaced the switches and the xbox and the playstation. In family sharing mode it was a real no brainer for us and it was a fun project for me and allowed me to utilize parts just gathering dust.

I never really post here because for some reason its a bunch of bazzite and cachy zealots, but if you have the parts and want to go for it, it can be a lot of fun.

That said, I would consider it a console OS. I would not make this my main OS in any way.

Solaris17

Not sure why you’re getting down voted. Intel ARC cards work, and I have a DIY steam machine with steamOS and a 13900KS and there is no “supposedly” about it it starts and plays games, has for weeks.

Grab the 310!

Solaris17

Nice thanks for this!

Solaris17

Damn, I'm sorry to hear that, but thanks for the follow up. Congrats on getting married though! Enjoy it; don't let the memories of this place get you down, sounds like it isn't worth remembering.

BROTHER I summon thee!

Solaris17

I'm calling the tab.

Solaris17

Lots of jokes, but no one asked if you actually did. So I mean, Do you?

Solaris17

How did it go 2 days later?

Solaris17

Finally someone said it, thank you.

Same experience, thanks so much for getting back to me.

Did you manage to get Wayland working? It worked fine with my 4090 and the repo drivers but not anymore with the new ones. Even wiped my machine incase there were config gremlins and I can only get a basic 1024 session to work. X11 seems to be working ok though.

What's been going on since spring 2023? What have I missed?

Broadcom finally decided to take blood from a stone with VMWare and the brand is currently un-aliving itself.

All the new startups are too new to have gotten there first AWS bills yet, so mid level managers dictating 1:1 lift and shifts to the cloud is still on the rise.

Uptime is more important than ever but even fewer places have backups than before.

Everyone on LinkedIN is an AI avatar now.

You are supposed to use opentofu

There are 300+ open source w/ business model K8 frontends

You still cant order any hardware but its not because anyone is sick, its because all the GPUs are being used to generate 1024x1024 robussy stills

Im pretty sure they tried and failed again to bring back futurama, or maybe that was next year idr.
