A character should be balanced around the current gamestate yes. Hypotheticals do not matter in this case; what matters is the food on the plate. We dont know when draft will be implemented. It could be anywhere from 6 months to a year minimum. That is enough time to where a character should be balanced around the format.

And even with Draft it doesnt change that baba is downright uninteractable as a spirit character. Thats just boring design to make binary matchups

Deadlock is a shooter moba hybrid. You cannot ignore design that stomps out the shooter half as “its just a moba”. The camera, controls, and characters, (the Three C’s of game design) are all built mechanically around shooter elements. Deadlock is just as much a shooter as a moba.

“Its a moba” its a bad faith arguement that ignores WHY the game has the mass appeal it does. It’s shooter elements brought in more players than its moba elements did, as evidenced by how much of its playerbase came from OW
