I used Home Assistant and Node Red (I was deep in the weeds of home automation at that point) and I just used a trigger word with my smart speaker to start the clock.

I ended up losing my job and moving, and that ground a lot of my more advanced automations to a halt, but if I had kept going I definitely considered using a TP-Link smart plug (with energy monitoring) with my electric toothbrush so it would know the charge was different once the toothbrush came off its charger and start the clock shortly after that, but I never got around to it.

There's a way to completely balance it out. Let's go, universe.
