This is what I got using your prompt "what is the earliest possible templar archives build brood war". Seriously bw players are like the most AI-illiterate people in the world

The earliest possible completion timing for a Templar Archives in StarCraft: Brood War is between 4:15 and 4:25 in-game time (on Fastest game speed).

Reaching this timing requires a pure "naked" tech rush that foregoes all early combat units (skipping both the opening Zealot and Dragoon) to direct every mineral and vespene gas point straight up the tech tree.

Build Order (Pure Tech Rush)

  • 8/9 – Pylon
  • 10/17 – Gateway
  • 11/17 – Assimilator (mine with exactly 3 Probes immediately upon completion)
  • 13/17 – Cybernetics Core (placed immediately as the Gateway finishes)
  • 14/17 – Pylon
  • 15/17 – Citadel of Adun (placed immediately as the Cybernetics Core finishes; costs 150M / 100G)
  • 16/17 – Templar Archives (placed immediately as the Citadel finishes; costs 150M / 200G)

Key Mechanics & Considerations

  • Gas Timing: The Citadel of Adun costs 100 gas, and the Templar Archives costs 200 gas. An 11 Assimilator with 3 saturated Probes accumulates exactly 300+ vespene gas by the time the Citadel finishes, ensuring zero idle time between structures.
  • Unit Spawn: With the Archives finishing around 4:15–4:25, the first Dark Templar begins warping in immediately and finishes around 4:45–4:55.
  • Competitive Reality: In actual tournament play, Protoss players rarely cut corners to this extreme because a single scouting SCV, Zergling pair, or Zealot can cancel tech structures or eliminate workers. Standard competitive Fast Dark Templar builds incorporate a Zealot or Dragoon for base defense, pushing the standard Templar Archives completion to roughly 4:35–4:45 (with the first Dark Templar finishing around 5:05–5:15).

how SoulKey's ZvZ is trash coming from people with no data to back it up...

I remember a couple months ago I showed how he had below 50% win rate during his "bonjwa" era in ASL, but I guess that sort of data doesn't count?

The funniest thing of all with Soulkeys ZvZ is that like a year ago or something Artosis uploaded a random game on ArtosisCast (I watched all of them so I don't know which one) where he spent the first 3-5 minutes talking about "what sets apart the best, like TaekBangLeeSang, iloveoov, Boxer, Nada etcetc, is that they are all super good at the mirror match up. Which makes sense, since in the mirror you have the exact same tools as your opponent and so the only thing that matters is your skill."

There is no one that doubts that Soulkeys vT and vP is insanely good. Revolutionarily good. Perhaps best in the world. Obviously. But to defend someone that has below 50% win rate in any match up, especially the mirror, during a supposed bonjwa era, is like 12 year olds defending their kpop stars.

Starkheiser

If you have a matchup you really dislike, but you like the other two matchups, imo your goal should be to minimize how much your dislike for TvT negatively impacts your view of the overall game.

Years and years and years ago, I played a lot of SC2. I played T, and after about two years I just hated TvP. It reached a point where my dislike for TvP literally made me rage quit the entire game.

My advice to you: find a one base build, either 2 fact vulture rush or 2port wraith, and just do that. And nothing else. And just take the lower win percentage from a "bad" build and view it as a ticket to getting to enjoy TvP and TvZ in 66% of your games.

Mini is probably the worst example of "mental game" in the history of competitive sports ever since a Homo erectus said "how about we throw this stick at that lion over there and see what happens?"

He is one of the best and most innovative players in the world and has the best prep and most ballsiest and reckless (in a positive way) build orders in the games history, but he is not only mind gamed by the enemy, he mind games himself.

He will be in the losers match in a Ro24 against a washed up B-ranker known for proxy BBS on a two player map and go Nexus first without scouting twice in a row. In a Ro4, he will be up 2-0 against Soulkey in pure domination making Soulkey look like a noob, only to then lose 1 probe to a scouting drone at minute 3, tilt his head, and then throw all three games and lose 3-2.

I've been a fan of Mini going waaaaay back, and no one was happier than me when he finally won his ASL, but that doesn't make me blind to his ludicrously obvious weakness: his mental game.

I remember that one game against Snow like 2-3 ASL season ago, both did some usual PvP shenanigans and suddenly it was like Snow had 1 reaver and 10 probes and Mini had like 25 probes and a control group of units or whatever and it was beyond clear that whenever things are not 100% in Mini's control, he tilts and loses.

(In Asia you are either poor or unbelievably rich in eu4 due to how trade works)

Fixed that for you

Starkheiser

Nope. I tried Galapagos->North America and it didn't work and I fought a war with Portugal just to get Piwra and I can't move it there :(

Starkheiser

Got it, thanks! I'm currently doing a Prussian Teutonic Order -> a couple of tag switches -> Rome wc, it's 1712 or so and I just switched to monarchy. But do you think going theocracy might be better for such a campaign?

Starkheiser

Thank you for not calling me an idiot and actually explaining the situation for me! :)

I have heard that I can turn into a monarchy just by reelecting the same guy and getting really low republican tradition. But is there any way to turn into a theocracy as well?

Also, suppose I start as a monarchy. Is there any way to flip to a republic early game? If it is good, it might be good for me to try playing as a republic until 1550 in my next run and then turning into a monarchy just to see how it feels.

Starkheiser

Yes, I spam disinherit on virtually any heir that is worse than 4-4-3. It's also a good way to dump excess prestige since you're pretty much always capped.

Starkheiser

You might be on to something with that thing about the negative modifier to absolutism. I personally like to play into the late game, maybe that's why I don't like them?

Starkheiser

My point about 6-3-3 is that you are essentially guaranteed that as a monarchy so long as you disinherit enough bad heirs.

In a republic, a 6-3-3 leader costs 4 years of 4-1-1 plus 4 years of 5-2-2 for you to finally get a 6-3-3. So for that 12 year period, if the guy lives long enough, you have averaged a 5-2-2 leader for 12 years. And that is provided the guy lives for 12 years. When I'm playing monarchy, of course it depends on my rulers age, but I will often disinherit 5-2-2, but in a republic that is somehow my reward for giving up 40 absolutism? And suppose the guy dies after 8 years, then you're back to a 4-1-1 ruler.

There must be something else, right? As I said in OP, even if you didn't get a penalty to the republican tradition, it's a bad deal.

Starkheiser

I've found that the wiki isn't always updated to the latest update. But looking at https://eu4.paradoxwikis.com/Theocracy#Holy_Horde, it neither says that it will stay or be removed if I tag switch to Poland and then the Mongol Empire.

Starkheiser

R5: Hungary got a PU on both Bohemia and Austria in my game as the Teutons

Starkheiser

By the way, do I keep it if I switch to Hansa? Otherwise I might keep it and conquer a bit more of Europe; I recently dismantled the HRE so the world is my oyster ^^

Starkheiser

Thank you very much! Yes, that T2 thing is why I'm mortally afraid. I'm on my like 12th run as Gotland and it's the first run where Poland didn't get Lithuania and I'm actually making serious progress, so I really don't want to mess anything up lol

Starkheiser

Thank you!!!!!

I understood all of it except "If youre playing ironman, i advise to to copy that save on day 0 (so that you wont need to roll again, if you fuck up or just end up unlucky)." I used to only play normal but I've recently found the joys of Ironman but the constant restarts are killing me. How do I copy a save on day 0?

Starkheiser

What strong countries are left? If you follow the mission tree you end up on unfriendly terms with Denmark, Poland, Sweden and Muscovy, and I found that France/Austria etc are too far away to care. But maybe I need to play it slower?
