Hey man, I lost my dad just under a year ago, not to suicide, but to cancer.
At his funeral we played music from his favourite band, Crowded House. For literally months after I couldn't/wouldn't listen to any songs from the band. It just hurt too much. Then one day I found myself humming along to one of their songs that was playing in the background. And instead of thinking about the terribleness of losing a father, I remembered all the wonderful things about him.
I just wanted to reassure you there will come a point, maybe very soon, maybe much later, when the good memories will overtake the hurt and the bad.
And you'll realise, like me, everything will be okay.
Much love.
