Respectfully, Ethan has an IRL family that I'm sure will be there for him through this, as shocked and disappointed as they may be. Ethan's own father is no stranger to lascivious behaviour in his own marriage after all. Hila even says in her initial statement that she has to navigate co-parenting now, so Ethan will still have access to his kids, even if only for half the time. So I think that fans are entitled to react however way they want and I don't blame them for writing him off as we really don't know these people and perhaps we never did. Some will be more forgiving than others, which is to be expected. We should all just hope that everyone involved, even Ethan, can learn to move forward from this somehow and to reduce the damage here as much as possible.

Ofc! And it really is hard to wrap your head around something like this...the Deorio segment did genuinely offer the catharsis I think we all sought this past weekend. I don't think it's a stretch to call it an upset of epic proportions, but nor do I resonate with the parsociality of some of the people who feel entitled to something from the crew. I just hope that everyone (including Ethan) comes out of this unscathed and set forth on a good path. My heart aches the most for Hila, their boys, and the amazing crew we've come to know and love over the years. I really hope they can overcome this and continue to let their talents shine!

I'm also amazed by your partner's ability to clock that behaviour!!! Even I had somewhat normalized the dynamic, though whether it was me subconsciously not vibing with it or just getting busy, I slowly began watching fewer eps over time. I guess it's hard to notice these things when the shift is so gradual to a daily watcher/vs someone who pops in every now and then.

It's still sad to think about everything and everyone that he threw away, and for what? But ykw I'm optimistic that this isn't the end. Let's see what's on the other side of this hiatus, whenever that may be.

He did a great job imo. He highlights the community reaction all across the aisle and offers his own take. He has always been a level-headed commentor in these types of situations. There are parts that will make you laugh, others that will make you cry. Overall, pretty cathartic. I recommend the initial coverage and would say the follow-up is more elective if you just wanna see more clips. I'm partway through that one right now myself

Fair enough, and I do agree that people need to take a step back for their own sake and remember that no one, no matter how much they insist, is an exemplar of any one concept e.g. fidelity, honesty, fairness, etc... people are not static, they're fickle and human. They say one thing and do another. They change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. This ought to show that we can't let these figures dictate how we feel to such an intense degree

But also, I cann't fault anyone for feeling a way about this. Not trying to be hyperbolic but it's like side-eyeing people who are/were sad when Dolly Parton died. The majority of people don't know these figures personally, but have assigned some emotional value to their idea of that person, perhaps because of whatever was going on in their lives at a crucial time, perhaps they anchored a lot of comfort and security to that figure. I won't fault anyone for coping in these harmless ways and feeling impacted by this on some level. I've been keeping up with Ethan and Hila on and off for 15 years and while I can't say I've taken it as far as some people, I'd be remiss to say it didn't shake me up at least a little.

Bro completely forgot that Ethan built his personal brand in part on denouncing cheating wife guys, being a self-proclaimed herald of what's right, and worst of all, claimed that the reason the lawsuits were justified was because the rules of engagement changed when they came for his family. Then proceeds to destroy his own nuclear family. Nobody gives a fuck if Tarentino does the same thing because he was never shoving all that in our faces.

Girl. I say this as kindly as possible. I think you need to take a step back and reassess your relationship with figures like this. No person, famour or otherwise, and no matter what values they claim to tout, is a monolith. Put that energy into being as decent and authentic a person as possible and learn from these mistakes. It's a bit unhinged to be taking things out on your partner and to me, is the chief sign to log off and go do something for yourself that has nothing to do with this drama.

At the end of the day, that's all this is in relation to our lives: drama. To Ethan, Hila, their kids and the crew, it's a waking nightmare that they are trying to make sense of and figure out how to move forward with as little further destruction as possible.

If you must, seek community with the people here, console someone, write a heartfelt message, write an angry draft just to get your feelings out, punch something (not your partner), but don't be acting like you/we are owed further information. It's pretty obvious who the mistress is at this point and frankly, there is nothing Ethan can say right now that isn't going to sound like an excuse, explanation nor justification of this. His repost of Hila's statement is actually perfect for this reason.

Hang in there. And remember, in the best case scenario where the crew returns and carries on the show, we should try and keep the subreddit as healthy and free of vitriol as possible, no? Find an outlet for this energy in the meantime.

What indicates to you that he chose the mistress? That he doesn't care or feel bad? The world came to know that he destroyed his own family less than 48 hours ago so he's probably got a million other things to prioritize right now than telegraphing who he does and doesn't follow.
