My 18-year-old son is a baseball ump after playing for like 10 years. I think he's on year 2 or 3 of doing it, actually really enjoys the job. This is pretty much par for the course. He doesn't let it get to him, he hands out one warning and then after that he ejects. I don't think he's ended a game like that, but he's said partners he's worked with have done exactly that after managers or coaches keep throwing a hissy fit.

When he played I used to keep score at most of his rec ball games and some of the COBRA games. I genuinely enjoyed it, allowed me to watch the game. The number of parents that would get so insanely upset over one call _in a 10U rec ball game_ is insane. One of the umps said "Only scouts at these games are selling cookies, your kid ain't getting into the MLB today so pipe down or you're gone."

I travel often but am based in the US. In South Africa for a month, no problems. Literally used CC to build a prototype on the flight from Dublin back to Florida and no problems. Home internet, cellular, at my clients’ sites, doesn’t matter.

I’m more upset about the pricing and usage. I’m on a Max 20 and used to get through the whole week on Opus with room to spare. Now I burn 20% of weekly in a single day with no change in how much I do and after optimizing my workflows as much as possible.

Going to start trying other models to see how they stack up. Sol isn’t that bad but I don’t like OpenAI either.

Now I just need to figure out who that is and how to contact them. Pretty sure I can figure it out. Like I said I know it's not the missionaries' fault, they're just kids doing what they were taught and believe is right, but man trying to get an apostate back into the fold? Barking up the wrong tree for sure because I'm going to extra hell according to what their cult teaches... or maybe that's the whole challenge?

225k on an ‘03 S80. Barely got 11k out of a 2025 XC60 before it felt like it wanted to rattle itself apart. I’ll take my S80 back now…

2025 XC60 B5 Plus, just serviced and inspected last week by Volvo. Check engine light came on a few days before service, which prompted me to call and schedule early. They said it was good to go.

Go to leave on a 700-mile road trip this morning. First rest stop, check engine light is back and the car started shuddering under acceleration. Like HARD. Sound from under the bonnet sounded like if you had a cup of dice and shook it (like Yahtzee). Had to abort and baby the car home 2 hours into a 10 hour drive.

Wasn’t a leisure trip, it was for a funeral. Almost stranded on the side of I-75, with my 3 kids, in the Florida heat. Car is back at Volvo and they gave me a loaner for now.

Bilewater was annoying because of the maggot water and such but it’s a very well done area. Putrified ducts was well done but those mosquitoes that zip back 14 miles at the hint of a swing are the absolute worst. More annoying in act 3.

I did this one last night after like 50 attempts. I use tools extensively in my play through.

Reaper crest for 2 red tools (tacks and cogflies). Thread storm, poison pouch, volt filament, and the tool that makes your bind quicker. Got rid of the silk stealing bastards permanently, and did all Shakra’s quests so she helped me.

Flying bee dudes were deleted with electrified silk storm. Released a couple cogflies to help deal with the non-Conductor flyers. Big bell guys were taken out mostly with poison tacks. The rest was just chaos and trying to dodge and use the awfully slow swing because of the reaper crest.

Mine saved me from the line on the sidewalk at the end of my driveway a couple times. Nothing there but a line of paint lol. That or the trash can that’s half a meter from the driveway, it likes to auto brake for that too.

Although when I was at a red light once, it tightened my seatbelt and threw up a warning “rear collision imminent”. Scared the crap out of me until i realized that someone swerved one lane over at the last second to miss hitting me.

Only thing I don’t like about newer Volvos is the software. It’s absolute trash.

2023 XC90 Plus, never kept a reliable LTE connection in a major metro (Orlando, FL). Reset the modules and irritainment system almost every second drive cycle.

Traded to a 2025 XC60 Plus because I wanted something smaller. Interior lights sometimes come on after engine shutdown even though the setting is enabled to turn them on. Remote start renders my car unusable if I try to start it before the remote start timer expires. I have to go into the app and shut it down and THEN I can start the car, otherwise it’s stuck in an infinite loop and won’t start.

Also the YouTube music app frequently fails to load the media after starting the car but I think that’s an issue with the app, not Volvo’s shit software.

My son cheesed this bastard last night by just walking away after it summoned friends. Just went near the exit doors for a few seconds and the flying flaming loogie hocking bastards just vanished lol. Get a few hits, dodge the smash attacks, and went just out of range when it summoned.

I always give fake info. Unfortunately most sites won’t accept 504-555-1234 so I just hit random numbers after the area code to make it seem legit and just repeat until it accepts it. Never got a call. I have an email address specifically for crap like that, which I check maybe once a year.

The ONLY dealer I’ve never felt pressured or badgered to do anything was a Volvo dealer. Everywhere else it was the same pushy sales tactics. Maybe it’s the same at other luxury dealers, but that one Volvo dealer made me a fan for life.

I’ve got two stainless steel water bowls with built in ice packs. I fill one and freeze it overnight and we swap it with the outside one daily. Even in this blistering Florida heat it says pretty cool most of the day. Mostly squirrels drink from it but also birds and snakes.

Odd. Went there a few years ago and booked a northern lights + whale watching tour. I got a call from arctic adventures saying the whale watching was canceled due to high winds but northern lights was still on for that same night. Offered to refund half and keep northern lights tour (which we did) or refund everything. Got the refund on my card in a couple days.

What surprised me is I got an actual call from a real person, not a bot, and not just an email or text saying it was canceled.

Sucks you and others had bad experiences with them, my only one was good, and this was just in 2022.

If you need to go the pharma route, see if the manufacturer has programs for helping patients afford their medications. The company I work for develops software and provides those services for certain manufacturers and lots of patients get their medications cheaper or free depending on the pharma company’s programs. I’ve never heard of those two drugs c diff but we are working with a manufacturer now on supporting a c diff medication (can’t say what one, legal stuff our lawyers would crucify me for.)

Every single time I get clothes with those tags on them I watch the cashier like a hawk. Last time I took my son to Macy’s to get some slacks and such for a dance, I had to remind the cashier for every single fucking item. A pair of slacks, dress shirt, two pairs of sweatpants, and a pair of khakis. Thought he’d get the point after the first thing but nope, just another new seasonal warm body barely trained to take money and bag clothes.

Aviation. $175/hour to rent a small Cessna and futz around. For a few hours of flying I’m able to put in an order for boro rods and oxygen that will last me… probably a few hours.

I don’t fly anymore but I do blow glass at a local hot shop in exchange for helping with classes (getting color, safety demos, gathering a punty for blown stuff…) Haven’t worked my torch in months because boro and oxygen is expensive and sweat equity is cheap. Plus hot shop time is my social time so yeah.

I love my GTT Scorpion with the Lynx center fire. Able to get a pinpoint flame but with the second stage I’m able to melt through some thick boro rods pretty easily. Pretty efficient too, I run it just fine off a 10L oxycon at around 20-ish PSI. Probably do better on tanked oxy but gets the job done for me.

It's the only place I could put them without the wrath of the HOA raining down on me. At least behind the privacy wall they can't be seen from the street and you have to really look to see them if you come up to my house. They've been up there for a few years for some rehabs that we released (that have since moved on) and they've had occupants off and on, but this is the first litter of kits I've seen in them.

That and we (myself, my kids, or their mom if she's here) will sit outside with a bowl of nuts and toss treats to the little ones so they know we're friendly and are a safe spot :)

This video is from the N1 near that very tunnel. Happened not that long ago. My ex wife almost got blown off the road around Table Mountain bringing our daughter to dance class that day.

Worked for a global oil and gas company many years ago. They made us do a “job safety analysis” every time we did something. I worked in IT in the office buildings, not at a refinery or platform.

I pushed a large, wheeled copier down the hall from one print room to another without doing the JSA.

I’ve got several hobbies, all art related. Oil paint isn’t cheap, good porcelain and natural clay can be expensive, and fabric isn’t the cheapest thing around. Glass, though, tops them all.

In the hot shop I use studio glass for hand blown stuff, but at home I run a torch. Borosilicate color glass rods and tubes aren’t cheap. At all. A solid 2 stage torch will set you back about a grand. If you don’t want to haul oxygen cylinders to and from the welding shop, you can spend a bunch on concentrators and a home fill setup (unless your torch can run off concentrators alone, like mine.) I’m always looking for cheap boro glass like shorts and seconds, but even that can be expensive. Then there’s fireproofing and ventilation. Oh and a kiln to properly anneal the glass. And tools.

It’s unlike anything else, though, and the hot shop or flame studio is my happy place.
