I feel it wasn't supposed to be an adaptation. At most it was supposed to be a prequel, but even then, they changed the foundational premise of the universe.

Goat was the badass of that film

It was simple ridiculous joy incarnate. It'll never be critically acclaimed, but what's not to love? Better than Time Bandits.

It's harrowing how the ending of that movie really was the best ending possible for that character. That part was terrifying well done from a psychological perspective.
