I wanted the different factions to attack your colony, but not so badly that you can't ignore it if you have some good guards at the edges.

There should also be tenant happiness and the potential for a rage spiral if people get super unhappy and start leaving.

This is a great tip! I wish I'd known this when building my 1/1200 size collection! I ended up using too much glue on a lot of parts. This would have been far better.

Using a bit of gel glue to hold a larger amount of fluid glue is something I had never considered before! Thanks!

For the future, I think taking pictures with some kind of size reference is useful. 1/700 will be quite large, but it's hard to imagine what size it is for those of us who don't build as many ships as you do!

Ok I got logged in. The build is:

• 4 medium pulse laser

• 2 lrm 10 artemis

• 6 tons lrm ammo

• STD engine 200 (64.8kmh speed)

• 2 double heat sinks, one in each torso

• Leg armor down to 29 tons to fit this.

As i said I have only stopped playing this because i think the HBK-IIC-B does it even better, using 4xlrm15s instead of 2xlrm10s at a cost of fewer pulse lasers. The iic-b fits more LRM tubes than any other medium and that allows it to do its role best, which is adding dos when the heavies are trading.

I have nore time in the 4j than almost any other mech. I think its one of the best platforms in the game.

You are playing it all wrong. Fundamentally a mechs role on the team is to put out more damage than its counterpart ok the enemy team can soak up. The LRM answer to this problem is to deal a lot of that damage before the enemy can even lock you. As a medium you only need to deal 300 damage or so to be worth your small weight, but you can easily do double or triple that on the regular. You cant tank enemies and youre not fast enough to run from lights, so its all about the damage to armor trade.

What the LRM does best as a weapon is fire over the top of mechs and obstructions to multiply your team's frontal firepower. In a given chokepoint you maybe have room for 2 or 3 assaults. Your job as an LRM medium is to add damage without using front line space. So when your team has 2 assaults facing 2 enemy assaults you want to have 2assaults plus a medium of damage tipping the trade in your favor.

So you dont need to be fast. Stay with your assaults and heavies. Be behind or near them and dump missiles on their target at the same time they are doing it.

Later on, you can also use missiles to pick off far away enemies who are exposed, to force enemies out of cover that doesnt have steep enough walls to block missiles and into the open for your team, and also to force some enemies to keep their heads down while your team is exposed fighting others.

The 4 lasers you use mostly to punish light mechs who come after you and the assaults so the assaults dont get turned and exposed to an enemy push.

The medium LRM boat is the best use of this because it takes tonnage that doesnt mean much armor-wise but adds damage to the front line without taking up front line space.

I have since graduated to the only mech better for the medium LRM support role which is the HBK IIc variant. It carries more tubes, more ammo, and runs cooler and faster.

Artemis is why you dont run lrm20s. You have limited ammo and without artemis you lose 25% of your ammo to spattering around the edges so you burn through ammo faster but dont get any meaningful increase in effective damage over artemis 15s.

I do the opposite. I hoard my map votes to force alpine.

Its one of the few maps where having the right build for the map puts you at a huge advatage

A lot of RAC builds actually fit the smallest possible RAC for psychological warfare. I have a singke RAC2 that does basically no damage but it gets people to stop shooting back at me while i hit them with heavy PPCS where the actual damage comes from. The damage of the RAC2 is basically a rounding error but the screen shake and blinding feels like 4xRAC5 and people react to it as such.

An easy approach is to check them all and vote for the people and things they all agree on.

Then you end up with a much smaller list of things to think harder about.

If it sounds like ball bearings inside your engine, it might not be far off that.
