MacBook is not connected to Mac Mini. It's linked via Universal control. MacBooks can/should be plugged in to power source at all times. It's better for the battery. If you need a computer I would go for MacBook first. They can work as a desktop setup with the purchase of a monitor. And still be mobile. M5 MacBooks are very powerful

Mac Mini M4 is hidden underneath the desk via aftermarket drawer. It's so small and light that I can get away with it 🙇🏻‍♂️🙏

Exactly! My Mac Mini powers my Main (Heavy Lifting) and Extended Monitor (WhatsApp, IMessage, Slack, and GEN AI.) And I use my Macbook Pro M1 for Video Calls. Ipad is for check list, voice memos, and voice dictation. They are all Link keyboard and mouse to via Universal Control

It's super easy. I bought a ACER PM161Q used on Ebay for $35. And I have mounted on a magnetic monitor arm for Ipads - pretty cost affective. And as for the connection, its connected to my my Mac Mini M4 directly via Mini-HDMI to USB-C (plug 1) and 2nd USB-C as the power source (plug 2). I hope this helps! It's important to note that this is not a High Def monitor - it's a 1080p, rotated 90 degrees. Its just good enough to read text. I use this screen for all of my messaging apps (WhatsApp, IMessage, Slack, and GEN AI.

This is a 14-inch (16-inch as well) M1 MacBook Pro (Late 2021) which does have a notch. I believe 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro (Late 2020) does not have a notch. 🙇🏻‍♂️🙏

The vertical screen is actually a 1080 Acer 15.6" I bought in ebay for $35. You can get them pretty cheap. It's plug and play, with some settings adjustment. I highly recommend it. 😊
